Just thought I'd leave this here.
no email once again ; ;
I'm ok with not receiving mail. I'm not ok when people who quit the game long ago, that werent even there at the end of the world, received a mail (true story). Nice way to thank those players who sticked with the game all along since even before day 1. I'm just sad.
yeah also very sad that people who applied for 1.0 beta that didn't get it, still didn't get in for this one, even signing up with the same account but very happy [people are getting in to make the make better :D
Isn't it despair?
Or are you un-pairing things?
If you unpaired your email from your account, I bet that's why you're not getting any.
I read this thread and was like "wtf is this"
Then I read another thread about emails and I'm like "WTF!"
Now I'm posting here and I'm all like "wtf....."
People knew that only a small percentage was going to get in the alpha. Didn't they say the servers can only hold 800 at the moment before it crashs.
As I said, companies, SE in particular, never choose the people they really should. It's just testing, but I can actually see where you're coming from in logic. "We want to focus on getting current players in", I bet most of the invites goes against this.
Guess we'll see what happens when more people wake up lol.
They said no such thing nor was this ever the case in JP testing. They stated after 1k in a zone is hit it starts to lag, that was the first 2 phases.
@ Elexia : All true :\
More than likely they spread the invites over the toast that is the player base. It's no yolk that long time players didn't get an invite, but hey that's fine fair play. Congrats to those who got the bacon in the end.
There is always beta, in late jan, eairly feb whenever they decide to have it.
Killing this misinformation before someone reads this nonsense:
800 players PER ZONE.
Zone: Single area of the game world.
The dev. team is working on having 1000 players per zone.
In other words the server is currently able to handle 800 players per zone without massive lag issues (they never said crash).
Anyway; I am a little bummed I haven't gotten an e-mail. Hoping that it will just take time to receive one but not holding my breath.
I wonder how many people in this thread actually got in and are just hiding it =p clever clever~
Considering anyone who DOES get in isn't really allowed to publicly say so, you'll not really know.
Wrong!
Gridania is many zones!
Every time a character crosses a zone line and loads into a new area (whenever the screen shows the area's name in gold on a black screen) that area can hold 800 players/monsters.(Combination)
So do the math:
Old Gridania: 800
New Gridania: 800
Central Shroud: 800
and so on~ for every zone.
This is exactly why this misunderstanding has to be stopped~ It leads to misinformation.
Anyway; This is off topic now.
Still want a #$*^ing e-mail.
Yea, Yoshi-P did say this...They wanted to get people who stopped playing into the Alpha and Beta...and people who never played the game at all as well. The people who stuck with it are unfortunately on the same list as people who didn't support the game. I get it...but it's frustrating as well.
I kind of understand the logic behind getting the people who stopped playing to be in the Beta, since it will be closer to the finished product. I don't get it all that much for Alpha.. If they stopped playing 1.0 because they felt like it was a total mess, I don't think they will be willing to put as much effort on an alpha testing as most of the loyal players would.
Why are you guessing at numbers when we have the correct information right from Yoshi-P's mouth?
Quote:
First off, we’ve managed to eliminate all the critical issues that surfaced due to heavy server stress, which is caused by an increase in players. So, right now, we’re safely running the game with around 800 people in a single zone.
This number applies not only to players, but enemies too. Here we have around 700, with 400 battles taking place simultaneously. That’s what we’re having our testers do right now. It’s come to light that the server becomes laggy when we go past the 800-player mark.
We’ve managed to identify the top 20 causes for this, and will be working to address the issues next week, along with all the bugs our alpha testers have submitted. We’ll temporarily stop alpha testing next week. The test has been taking place on two worlds already, and we’ll pick things up the week after for around five days. If everything looks okay, we’ll move to the global phase the week after that. We’ll probably be keeping the servers open 24 hours for our overseas players and for the aging test, and hope to have everyone participate from 11/26. We’re planning to give out a lot of accounts.
You need an active account, as said in the application requirements on the alpha page : http://entry.ffxiv.com/alpha/index_en.html
Well signing up for the Alpha requires you to log in using the Square Enix Account Management...So at the very least you would have to have an active SE account which is free for anyone to make.
I don't remember if having an active XIV account is required.....never mind it appears Patafix solved that one for me. lol
On my LS forum I made a poll:
just for fun to see peoples responses XDQuote:
Did you get an Alpha email ?
1. No - I genuinely did not
2. No - I may be lying to protect my alpha pass
3. Yes - I genunely did
4. Yes - I may be lying to make you jealous
Will there always next time right :(
People who don't even know what a zone is, are bitching about not getting an email?
