In a perfect gaming world scenarios, who would you like to have a special guest appearance from all the previous FF series from FF1 thorough FF13-2?
Do you mean a main character/hero/villain?
Gilgamesh.
As for a main character... Cyan Garamonde so we can have samurais in his image!
I'd rather not have main, or important, character from a previous game in this one. Characters like the Magus Sisters and Gilgamesh who have appeared in prior games already in different forms would be okay to me, though.
I personally think only Gilgamesh, Cid, and Biggs and Wedge are allowed as actual characters. Recurring monsters / animals / themes / technology is common but characters with an actual personality I could only be okay with those mentioned above.
Anything else would be blatant fan service and is a bit low brow in my opinion.
Cecil Harvey! Every time I think of Final Fantasy, he is the first character I think of. And then Squall of course. Cloud is like the Iphone, no matter what we do, there is going to be one somewhere. Let's leave him and FFVII out of it for a while.
Vaan and Penelo as villains! We need some airship battles! :D
Again, I really think main characters such as these should stay in their own world. Gilgamesh has been known to travel through the void, so there's a good reason for him to be in this game. Cecil, Cloud, Squall, Zidane, etc? Why in the world would they be in this world? Maybe something like, for instance, there was Male Mi'qote named Zidane or similar that had something to do with Thieves, then that would be an okay thing to me... But otherwise, none of those characters have been known to leave their home world. (Except for in Dissidia, but that doesn't really count. >_>)
But that is the thing, since it is part of the Final Fantasy series, it does count. We didn't call Bahamut inside Dala so how do we know that they won't throw us another curveball? The general feeling is that people don't want to see the main heroes brought into the game, but if they did it I am sure they would do it with some class.
With class you say?

We already have class!
Actually, multiple people were speculating that Dalamud was a prison, and then some speculated it was holding Bahamut. I wouldn't mind there being characters that reference/reflect one of the main heros, like with the Gem of Shantoto. I just don't want to see Cloud with his buster sword, or something like that in this game. Something like a Summoner NPC being named Rydia or something similar would be acceptable, in my opinion.
The only place id feel comfortable seeing them would be a monster arena. A place where you pick 3 friends and fight through a monster ranking. I think its a place where cameos would be acceptable, and not in-your-face enough to derail the main game from its tracks with fanservice. Even then id expect them to cover the blatant cameos with subtlety, for example 'Mystery Ninja'.
Like the ff13-2 collesium?
This could be utilized to fight "dev-team" combinations, or things like face 3 people from FF8.
Something like that, i know theres a PvP arena coming but this would be nice to run alongside. I think thered need to be a rank system for unlocking more difficult fights, but generally i think one thing this game really needs is a source of content that provides accessible, difficult and interesting fights, without the complication of gathering 8 people. (solo, 4-man and 8-man divisions?) Since its also outside the story it pretty much provides the freedom to add whatever enemies they want. The biggest problem with adding cameos from other FF installments is the canon implications, and arenas tend to absolve that.
leave 7 out of it? You mean Darnus who walks through fire like sephiroth?Darnus who was basically a legend amoung the army of the empire who goes bat shit crazy like sephiroth? summons a meteor like sephiroth only difference is that Darnus pulls a Kefka and actually succeeds. oh btw Hes leader of the VII Imperial Legion.
Anyone but Sephiroth.
Fran, and she will introduce a new race ;)
Yes something like this even though Yoshida already said that the PVP will includes vs against his Dev-Team and including Wada as an event.
However, the idea behind this cameo appearance for PVP would be to sorta like climbing the floors in a tower and the further you reach, you can select multiple monster/characters from previous FF series.
So not neccessarily in a sense of climbing the tower but to basically move forward through the branch structures laid out. This would be a great additional ways to earn Achievements and Gils or Weapons/Armors.
Rewards could be unique vanity skins. From varying FF-series, and suddenly we have an idea everyone wants in on!
Hildibrand is hired to investigate a series of rumors surrounding a mysterious traveler defeating adventurers and collecting their swords/weapons...
Hildibrand+Gilgamesh sidequest storyline. Make it happen SE!!!
You brought this on yourself.

Somehow I don't think the world is quite ready for the Gilgabrand or is it... Hildamesh!?
No. Only thing close to acceptable is Gilgamesh as a boss.
Gilgamesh but I'm already in the gam............oh wait never mind
We already have Gabranth-looking villains, and I'm glad with it, he was such a cool enemy... :D
Voiced by John D'Maggio, please.
I don't know how I'd feel about them bringing back actual characters per se other than the recurring, but bringing back weapon, limit breaks, environments, and other series staples might not be so bad.
If anything, FFXI was lacking more than a bit in that regard.
Cid is the only character who is supposed to be in every FF game.
No other characters please..there is such a thing as going overboard with fanservice.
(stuff like summons, themes like crystals, etc. are fine as well, I don't consider them as characters)
Would rather not see characters make a re-appearance, I'd like new characters so the game has its own signature (I think one of SE's problems is riding off previous games success, a la completely killing FF7 with all the spinoffs). Monsters/enemies would be quite neat, though, such as the Magus Sisters :)
Sorry guys, but after what i've seen in the end movie, I'm not even sure if there's any element from FF7 at all.
In fact, the whole idea really resemblance of FF6, especially the transitioning part between world of balance into world of ruin. Having empire and especially magitek armor are already dead on.
I would say if there's guess appearance from past FF, I would vote for Terra herself, especially since her esper for has close resemblance with elementals from the woods. XD
