Bahamut Story Arc theory.

After watching the Grand finale of FFXIV 1.0, I think we can safely say I bahamut is going to be onee of our main targets in A realm reborn.

Since it would seem the the primals drained alot of aether power, causing the Sealing spell to fail, because it obviously worked the first time they did it, but second time around it failed. Either A Bahamut got stronger (due to the aether drainage perhaps Bahamuts powers got enhanced) or B the twelves Power over the course of time was losing strength.

Either way, with this story arc (assuming we will be working our way towards him), I believe that we arre still going the need the power of the twelve and us adventurers to truely take him down, we will probably need to go to certain places where the gods are at and either, A prove our strength to the gods to get their power imbued into us or B go to very far places that is guarded very well an get to where the gods are and pray to activate that particular Deity.

Then after all Twelve gods have awoken, we would then proceed to rush through the stronghold of Bahamut and face him in a final showdown.

Even add times where Bahamut finds you in your weak state and gives you a rough time.

I think we should just ask this guy for help.

I hope we can use atomos to drain bahamut of his aether and empower ourselves for the fight! Cid will help us for sure, or maybe steal some magicite armors and nuke him mecha style!

After being freed, you would think Bahamut would continue it's rampage on Eorzea. But clearly as we are transported into the future, people have had time to rebuild and many survived. So something happens after we are teleported away, either Louisoix went ahead with his 'other' plan (the one Cid talked about) or something else appeared and stopped Bahamut. Sort of like how Nidhogg was never defeated but merely remains dormant inside an island on a lake in western Coerthas, also I would say Nidhogg is due to awaken now. 2 destructive Wyrms alive and kicking.

A little theory I'm thinking of at the moment are the 12 do not actually exist. They are merely objects placed at certain positions in certain areas to channel the lands aether (sort of like how Stone Henge and the Pyramids of Giza are on leylines and people think they channel the earth's energy) to seal Bahamut. The Tomb of Xandes (Mor Dhona's twelve) is the trigger for this aether weapon as it is closest to The Crystal Tower and the old Allgan king (possibly the man who designed it and sealed Bahamut the first time?) Now as it was discussed last night, I came to the assumption that maybe The Twelve were 12 Allgans who gave their lives to seal Bahamut the first time. With common knowledge that Bahamut was never truly defeated, the Archons (Louisoix, Urianger, and 10 others who are supposedly the 12 reincarnated) waited for the day to come where the knowledge they've been passed down would be needed.

With Bahamut controlling Van Darnus, Bahamut could have easily told Darnus what needed to be done so when he was awoken that he would not be resealed. Go into these areas and draw out the aether from deep within Eorzea with these devices. The Primals (for now just Ifrit and Garuda) would draw upon the aether of these lines and continue to become stronger themselves, for that is their selfish goals to consume and be the only one, even if they themselves talk of The One Primal. Van Darnus would have destroyed the Primals on his own to sacrifice their aether to Bahamut but why do the dirty work when adventurers would take on the Primals. Adventurers backed by Bahamut's own enemy, an Archon. It's win-win for Van Darnus and Bahamut. If the adventurers lost then that's less people to stop Van Darnus so he could accomplish the goals, if the adventurers won then the aether would be absorbed by Bahamut and he could grow stronger.

I believe Atomos came into the equation not to help either side. Atomos is Atomos. It was merely doing the job it was created for and that was for balance. Atomos could have merely been draining the crystals of their channeling powers and once the aether crystals became orange they could no longer drain the land and leak aether upwards to Bahamut.

I also believe the Twelve are not gods nor primals. Maybe Allagans or just the symbols/weapons/rocks that allow for the incantation.

And I'm kinda hoping our primal will be Alexander so we can reenact this scene:

He's found and made some AMAZING points. To sum it all up, the reason we hear a voice singing during all this disaster...dun dun dun dun, our Primal is Siren.

I'm wondering if anyone recorded the 1.0 story-line cutscenes to look over. I really would love to go back over the scenes to find clues as to possibly what has happend in the past as well as upcoming events. SE has once again peaked my story-craving instincts like no one else but they can lol!

As far as I could tell from the End of an Era Trailer, the "keys" that fell from Dalamud were the "power" of the Twelve to seal Bahamut, just as Lousioux and the others were trying to re-do but failed. Again I need/would love to go back over the cutscenes and take a deep look into them!

Hmmm that theory has been around for quite some time, but I don't think Siren is our primal. Especially after they announced her just like Fenrir, Cait Sith and Typhoon. Something cool (boss or lesser summon) but not very important. And they didn't say a thing about Bahamut before they put it in such a great role. So thinking about the biggest summons from FF history, Bahamut and Alexander were the ones Yoshi hasn't talked about yet. Who knows ;P

Bahamut was atleast hinted at. Dragons and Dravnians worshipped a Dragon Primal. Van Darnus drew on Bahamut's powers and used one of the most iconic moves in the game. Looking at Ishgard and drawing on FFIX sure I could see how Ishgard could be Alexander and Ishgardians are some of the most religious zealots in Eorzea. But:

I doubt Fenrir would be our Primal because I see it more associated with Menphina and the Moon. Cait Sith and Typhoon I don't see as having any association with our characters. While Siren makes sense with the various NPC dialogue and singing we hear, not just at the end of the world but as we enter the world. Either what, whatever Primals claims us, we will fight it. Oh yes, and we will win.

Hmm, i am kind of taking a shot in the dark here but in Final Fantasy IV Bahamut was the eidolon that was on the moon (also i read somewhere that the moon Bahamut lived was called red moon but i dont really remember that detail from when i played it) and since in XIV his prison was an artificial red moon, maybe our primal is Asura, the Queen of eidolons in Final Fantasy IV. She could be the one singing as well :P

I've recorded every cutscene "cleanly" from the journal (no ui/textboxes cluttering the screen) and in 1080. Only ones I don't have are some job quests (only had paladin and dragoon to 50).

I'm not entirely sure where I should post this theory, but here goes. Upon rewatching the opening CS of XIV, we saw that Midgardsormr was attacking the empire and laid to rest in Moh Dhona releasing all of the primals. This was the birth of the primals which set out to take new refuge onto the land. Bahamut was the only one who was not summoned because he was already imprisoned in Dalamud, thus meaning he is not a primal. Nael knew that Dalamud was more than a lesser moon as he referred to all primals as "False gods." I have a strange belief that Nael knew that Dalamud was actually the prison of Bahamut and felt that Bahamut was the one true god to cleanse the impurities of the land.

Just my theory.

I just want to see Deus van Darnus return ala NeoExdeath. Would be so awesome if his pure desire to cleanse the world brought him back from the void/has him to regenerate within Bahamut's labyrinth.

I just want to see a crazy amalgamation of Amano design style boss again. Either that or something Necron-esque.

If you take knowledge we DO have, it's safe to assume that a powerful Wyrm/Dragon can speak to people whether they're imprisoned or sleeping. Nidhogg speaks to and controls the Dragoon from the AF Quests, so you could say Van Darnus might have been controlled by Bahamut. I'm not sure if we can rule out Bahamut not being a Primal as we don't really have a safe definition of what they truly are. You could also assume that Bahamut tells Van Darnus that the other Primals are false gods and that only he (Bahamut) is the true god. Bahamut could easily be The One that Ifrit speaks of but I'm not so sure, even with Odin I wouldn't be sure that HE was The One. Got a feeling this goes really deep. So many cards need to be brought to the table:
Ascians, Paragons, Dravnians, the rest of the Archons. Whomever taught the Garleans about the Primals or where they learned about the Primals and their power, and Ishgardians. I have a feeling many of these answers are in Ishgard, they're more of religious zealots than the other 3 city states so I'm just assuming and hoping (lol) that they have more passed down knowledge.

Thanks for the compilation of cut scenes and videos! I almost forgot the Opening Intro CG and when looking back at it now, is that the past he envision when he touched that card during the CG at the table?

That huge serpent like with wings that breath lightning of some sort and took down that Garlean ship is that the past or present I wonder? You can see the primals shooting down into Eorzea too. Not sure either or SE had change the storyline midway 1.0?

That's Midgarsormr, Guardian of the Lake (Silvertear Lake). The Battle of Silvertear Falls took place 10 years before we appeared in the game, thats why Mor Dhona had time to change.

FFXIV story is getting so intriguing now that 1.0 is over and 2.0 is within grasp. I'm actually even more intrigue now than before!

Who knows we might get another Job upgrade from Bahamut like in FF1.

Yeah this games lore, storyline, etc. has always been it's biggest draw for me. I really should have spent more time digging around when I had the chance, there's a ton of stuff I would love to know about in this game.

I would like to see more of Ishgard as well. It would really seem that Ishgard would hold the answers we are looking for when it comes towards wyverns, dragons, and wryms. The direction of the story really seems gigantic when it comes to primals. It would be nice to see more lore of when the primals came to be.

SE's lore update calls Bahamut "The Elder Primal" so yeah he is one of them just way more superior I would love to see Garuda,Ifrit,Siren,Titan,Ramuh,Shiva and Leviathan fight Bahamut

Yeah, about time SE gave us something. lol I was about 80/20 on him being a Primal. Course it says 'elder primal,' that could mean elder as in very old, or elder as in The One that Ifrit was talking about. That we won't be sure of since we've all see Odin. Even then Odin or Bahamut may not be The One.

Yeah it would be cool to have a fight with the Primals, but that really depends on the Beastmen tribe, not sure if they can come together like that. The Ixali and the Amalj'aa maybe.

Indeed it would... FFXI had something similar the primals fought side by side the emptyness that was swallowing entire lands before falling asleep this was in the Lore but SE never delivered a CS of this I hope Yoshi-p does this kind of lore justice with an amazing CS.
