I decided I would try playing FFXI during this period as well as start laddering again in Starcraft. I'm also riding my bicycle more now since the weather is cooling down. What have you got planned?

Stockpiling yarn to give to all of the miqo'te upon ARR's launch.
8-12 months? i think thats maybe a bit excessive? im hoping three - four months, SE cant afford to try and build up the fanbase all over again...
ya.. thats a little too much and im also hoping its not too long of a down time. They really can't afford to take too long, they already lost the interest of a lot of ppl with the first launch lol. Taking too long might make even more ppl lose interest and get tired of waiting :/.
8-12? Are you joking? The retail releases are early 2013.
I doubt it will be 8-12 months, although likely more than 3-4.
I think 8-12 is a bit excessive. 6 months is more likely IMO.
Alright, how many more comments can we get saying the exact same thing and avoiding the actual topic of this thread? Go.
Probably see if my mithra in XI still exsists, if not, I've always got Mechwarrior Online, and Halo 4.
cry my self to sleep eveynight waiting for AAR to come
Is that game even good? They really fudged the series up with bad story and multiplayer after 1 and 2 imo. Any game to come out with "Halo" after those 2 have been pretty poop in comparison.
Back on topic, yeah 8-12 months is extreme, more like 3-4 months. Do not care that other people have said the exact same thing. Anyways, I'll probably be busy with my new job that I start, oddly enough almost exactly when servers go down.

Cross-stitch.
... no seriously. I'm gonna cross-stitch, I got a great new pattern and it's gonna take me forever :P
I thought about going back to WoW but to be honest the new expansion is a joke and while my husband is having fun playing it, I just think going back to WoW right now for me would never live up to playing FFXIV anymore, so it wouldn't be very fun. So I'll maybe do other hobbies.. cross-stitch being one of them. I'm also a hobbyist photographer.. you know, do things that don't involve sitting in front of a game for hours every day.
People that say there won't be 8-12 month downtime is putting quite a lot of faith in SE, remember, we were supposed to have a flood of information and weekly updates ever since Gamescom, not to mention we should be preparing for Beta in about a month.
I myself will be playing PSO2 still and XI's new expansion as it's pretty obvious that will be out way before ARR.
The thread is... How will you spend the 8-12 months of downtime?
People are simply going off the title of the thread and stating it is not going to be 8-12 months... your over exaggerated title has destroyed most of what topic you could have unless people actually believe that it could take them 8-12 months to get the game out at which point then they could talk about what they will be doing for said 8-12 months time frame...
But I will give you a little hint so to say... and the cat knows all the secrets just to let you know... (it will not at even 8 months for the game to be done... in fact it would have been better for you to have said 2-3 months at most...)
In the downtime that we may have... I will be filling my time with the joys of all the anime I still need to watch... I must say at lest you humans can make some good things... :P
The cat is bemused =-.-=
will spend it in the beta
isn't the beta in december?
The truth hurts
Go back to playing Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.
In a way yes though there is a lot in a name... I probably will not have any fond memories of playing any 343 games... but I will remember all the good bungie games I played. When it comes down to it really the game is still under microsoft so I think that answers it all right there...
The cat is bemused =-.-=
8-12 months?.... Um.. Holding out that long will probably kill the game before it starts.
all right then.. I will indulge myself in Zone of the Enders HD Collection, Dust 514, and maybe PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
I don't think you know what the truth is... but you will make a trollish type thread which will get at some people...
The truth of the world is only visible to the few who know where to look... and I don't think you know where to look... so I wouldn't try to pass off what you think things will be as some truth you have no idea about...
You humans are odd creatures... oh how I wish to one day dissect you and see what really makes you act the ways you do...
The cat is bemused =-.-=
SWTOR free to play, D3 when it isnt bad, BL2 DLC.. oh and actual more important things than games when I get around to them
Yes.
Even though the best game in the series multiplayer-wise was Halo 2, and I didn't really care for Noble Team all that much, Halo 4 is going to be freaking legendary.
Halo 3 finished the fight, and ODST added some interesting back story into events between Halo 2 and 3.
Can't wait to kick some Promethean arse, or dominate in Infinity Slayer.
My only question is will the gap between November 6th, and ARR Open Beta be long enough?
I really think that Halo 1 was better, but that's mostly because I enjoyed the story a lot more and the fact that it was so different. Multiplayer was really fun too. I was unbeatable in a Banshee :D. Mainly I think it was the innovations that kept me more interested in 1 than 2 and hopefully ARR will have that same innovative feel that 1.0 had that's kept me here so long. (Except done better, of course ^^; )
But yeah, it's gonna be hard to find a game I can really put time into and actually care about. I don't know what it is, but for me a game really has to have soul put into it for me to really love it and that's what made me really like FFXIV. It really had soul put into it, granted they were on a limited tight schedule, dated technology and the game was a little too... brown. With all these games like Tera, Guild Wars 2, Diablo 3 or Modern Warfare 7 1/2 Super 1337 Edition all I can see is copy paste formulas for "over-hyped game in a can" type games and I just can't get into them because it's always the same old crap :/
And it's really hard to find a game with actual integrity these days because all of the titles I grew up with are becoming sell outs and comepletely ruining the franchise to make more money (see FFXIII, Pokemon Black & White, Ace Combat Assault Horizon, Battlefield 3, Diablo 3, any Modern Warfare title past 4, ect) and I've been getting really worried that FFXIV 2.0 will join that list with all the new info we've been slowly fed like starving stray dogs. To me it's looking more and more like a copy paste type game and I really, really don't like that at all.
I think that's enough for this rant, hopefully I'm not getting too off topic here.
MOH, Watch the new season of the Walking dead, Battlefield 3, probably new BO, Guild Wars 2...maybe pick up some of my old games to play game
....
think that should be enuff
I hope they take 6~12months to release 2.0 then I will know the game is actually done
