This sounds awful. I don't see how this is in any way making it easier for players to use. Surely, easier to use would be drag this item in to this set. If you want it in another set, drag it into there too.
You can only form Free Companies under the same Grand Company? What about all those linkshells that exist because of the lack of Free Companies from launch, all with existing members in all 3 Grand Companies. All those linkshells hoping to change to a Grand Company when they were finally released? These too end up disappointed again because they can't all join the same Free Company.Quote:

Plenty of people since it's how you search for +1 and/or melded gear with stuff that gets flooded out by low prices. Also no, it's not an awful system unless you're calling an AH an awful system as they're virtually the same system.
You should have been worried about it a long time ago. Also no where does it say you're limited to 4 people, I don't know how you even read that wrong....it said nothing about a max just a minimum amount of people needed to start one.Quote:

That's not really the point. Asking someone to get two of the same piece of Darklight gear just so they can easily use it between classes is ridiculous.
Also reorganizing or swapping/unequipping/re equpping gear will become an enormous hassle if you have a lot of unique gear that can't exist more than once in your inventory.
The letter clearly states that you CAN use the same piece of gear you just have to do the switch manually or use a macro, you know, exactly like we already do. Gear sets are for specialized swaps for example I would have felt bracers with +pie on my BRD set and felt bracers with +STR on my WAR set or something, because macros do not take into account things like materia etc. get it?
I know. But Kafeen asked how we can get 2 same u/u gear.
That we can only put an item in 1 gear set is not the best, but at least the normal equips would be out of the inventory. For u/u gears that we want on multiple classes but don't want to farm twice we can only let it in the inventory and equip it with macros outside the gear sets.
I hope we can equip gear sets with a command so we can use gear set command and equip command in one macro.
example:
/equip main "the weapon you want"
/gearset "your DL set"
with this your complete DL set would be outside your inventory and you need only all the weapons in your inventory.
A new ability called "Sprint". So we can run faster at the cost of TP.
Sprint seems more like a universal skill, it's being used on every discipline.

I really like how Wada asked some probing questions, like at the end when he asked why one of the chars was running on the spot, YP didn't seem to answer the question though, is this going to be the norm at release? Would love some clarification.
Also I'm still not sure about gear sets and needing duplicate gear, that is just a step backwards to me. I know you can create macros to bypass this but meh, not liking that at all.
I know its pre alpha and we just won't know until we test it ourselves in beta.
I'm also a little bummed about the worlds being separated, I know YP says players can choose if they want to play on a JP/NA server etc, but we all know as well as he does deep down the majority of us will choose their region, and while I think its going to be better in the long run its still very sad that after all this time its going to change quite dramatically and that europe will get the short end of the stick as so many different languages, though that has never really bothered me but its always a struggle trying to convince people that you as a player is more than comfortable doing said content from sheer experience via the auto translator. the timezones are so distant its just not healthy for many players to not be playing in their primetime to get things done.
I do love these 90min live letters though, can't wait to see some character creation and the benchmarks!
It's possible, lots of post release MMOs have 'treadmill inertia' these days.
This is what I'm worried about though, I really don't want SE to bow down to these western mmos, I'm sure its to do with lag on getting abilitys off or w/e if you get my drift.
Maybe I'm in the minority but this is why I play XI/XIV only, I'm very nit picky when it comes so simple things to the eye like character movements and realism, well I wouldn't even call it that, I think think its half assed work, I really hope they can find a work around or fine tune that treadmill stuff somehow.
I have played so many other mmos in the past and they all have the same woeful controls and character movements, maybe some of this stems to me starting out with a SE mmo and getting used to it but meh it looks awful. ; ;

As am I and you are definitely in the miniority based on any topics regarding XIV's graphics lol. I've played a ton of MMOs and none have paid attention to the small details as much as XI and XIV did. XIV has it's problems, but the fact your character can track something with both their eyes and head working separately is attention to detail very few offline games even utilize.
Starting off with SE's MMOs is likely why, but the fact WoW got popular is the other reason why every MMO is essentially the same, since prior to XI and WoW MMOs were trying to have their own identity..nowadays it's just "who can make the most money through subs."
Hell, AN will make a killing off people that simply want to have the commander ability and don't want to grind for it lol.
He probably just let it slide because he have been saying throughout the video that the there were still errors and bugs in that version and even commented on why the tails were missing. Maybe he just thought "it's a unfinished game, I can't be arsed to comment on every little bug that comes up". I think that thing was due to lag or latency since it only affected other players and not his character. But I guess we'll see. :)

Still watching it, I'm not very far in, but HOLY CRAP @ Gathering changes! About time we can just pick what we want to go for. No more stupid Hot & Cold mini-game either, omg I love it <3 This is so much better.
Can't wait to see how they've changed fishing. I like the crafting changes too for the most part, though it might become a lot harder to HQ higher level recipes with this change.
