11 clicks to repair my gear 11 WTF 11 clicks
cry me a river and drown in it
I don't might repair being in the game, but needing 100% from another player in order to sell/trade items just sucks.
....Open your gear tab, seek repairs, make sure you have dark matter. Problem solved.
Since you're obviously new to FFXIV I'll let you in on a secret: The entire foundation of the game is laggy.Quote:
I have never seen a repair system so laggy and unintuitive in a big brand mmorpg.
Don't know the specifics on what they're doing for repairing in 2.0, but hopefully there'll be that repair-all option for yourself in addition to the one they have for other players to do it. I think simply having the tool required for the repair in your inventory and not equipped should suffice.
I remember seeing in one of the screenshots that an "Adventurer" level was required to do a repair on an item, so it could be they're phasing out the whole needing a crafter to repair things anyway. We'll just have to wait and see.
The reason this isn't fixed yet: replacement refs.
I'd also ask where's the gameplay in any of this?
Gear breaks slowly (thank god!) but it's effects are barely visible in you normal month.
Fixing it doesn't require doing anything special so why is it there?!
If death penalty is the only reason then they should have come up with more threatening and real thing to avoid. Gear half damaged or not is barely noticeable.
This has a lot to do with balance. SE is trying to cater across demographics. This means that casual players will generally be deterred from taking part in risky content if the consequences for failure/death are high. A casual player already has less time than a more hardcore and going back to recapture EXP or gil or anything for that matter is fairly archaic. If casual players are "closed off" from most content (which a penalty would cause) then you lose that chunk of people.
I'm not saying that this right or wrong but I understand both sides of the argument.
Also: replacement refs.
I hate how long it takes me to repair my gear..since my bf and I both have everything to 50 we just repair each others gear to save time lol. I also HATE how the fing timers reset when changing to a craft job...I REALLY hope they fix it so when we change to a craft job our 15 min does not reset. -_-
That would be too exploitable. Imagine farming keys in natalan as an example with a full group who has all 7 (soon to be 8) jobs leveled. As it is now you have 8 15 minute abilities every 15 minutes in that party, but if each party member changes jobs immediately after they use thier 15 minute ability, they could use another which would actually give your party a total of 56 15 minute abilities every 15 minutes. Hello exploit, how are you today?
I think she was more getting at having the timer continuing to count down from where it was when they swapped instead of completely resetting.
Hell, I remember a com rep posting something before that they were looking at spells with long cooldowns such as Raise not reset their cooldown timer when switching classes/job. Never saw that come into fruition though.
I was talking about the same thing. It's the way it is to keep people from exploiting the timers.
You couldn't use the same 15 minute ability in less than 15 minutes, but what would keep you from switching jobs and using one on the next job giving you more than one every 15 minutes? That's why they reset when you switch jobs, it's an exploit counter-measure.
Or just let me make the repair while on any job if I have the class leveled to do so... You can't actually fail a repair so don't even make me switch to a different class to do it.
Also, let me just repair my pants while I have them on. I know it makes no real world sense but it is a pain to swap to my weaver needle, take off my pants, open my inventory, repair pants, put back on pants, put back on BLM weapon.
Well, I can see that being an issue. People alternating battle voices and stuff then going back to another class. I agree with Babydoll though, there should be a way to differentiate it between swapping between another battle class and crafters/gatherers. I don't see anything wrong with your timers being ready to go once finishing a round of gathering/crafting. It's not like you can carry a bunch of people through stuff on a crafter/gatherer all the time to exploit this.
This doesn't help you if there is nobody around to repair for all the classes you currently need. Your solution to repairing quickly is waiting for someone else to do it, then thats even more slow and unreliable.
And i've been playing since beta. Yes the entire interface is convulted and laggy but the repair system is a shining example of this and that is what we are discussing.
Perhaps you should think before you open your mouth.
Happy Friday!
While I can’t share all the details on repair in A Realm Reborn, the lead developer for the system told me that once you become the class required to repair the item you would like to fix, you will be able to make repairs in 3 clicks.
I believe this is much faster than the amount of clicks being listed in this thread.
Nice, clicking the damn button has become too much work for people.
The biggest reason that a fix to how many clicks some things take - which also has to do with latency and server responsiveness, since most of it isn't clientside - isn't here yet, is because.. well.. Why would they bother fixing the majority of 1.0 and spending so much dev time and resources in doing so?
2.0 is around the corner, and it gets closer to arrival as each day passes. They're putting all their efforts on the new engine and game, seeing as 1.0 and it's engine are going to be scrapped entirely. There's no point in fixing something now that'll be easily implemented later.
If they were going to fix those kinds of things in 1.0, they would have done so already. The reason 1.0 is still shit is because the engine is shit. We all know this.
Make it 1. "Repair all".
Wow.................................................................................... how pathetic that they have to make the game even more simple....................
Nice ^^. Now i dont have to reset all my timers just to repair gear. And no more changing gear. +1 for this. A simple fix but a good one nonetheless.
Its like Dark Cloud in PS2, whatsamatter, sometimes i cant afford to fix all of it but isnt that the challenge. what Lv are you? Hmm do you die a lot or go on levequest by yourself. If you have 25.000Gil + than you can afford for everything to be fixed. I do have a issue with finger fixing. Does that bring down STR---> not sure but well thats more the reason for 2.0 to be next year, right

Think repair system should be simple not as a chore!
lol i also think of instant Leveling. lol haha The devs put a lot of hard work doing the repair system. I must check my gear constantly and thats good because i often forget what I put on half the time. haha
The Chore is buying thats what is hard. lol I need a tailor for my constant changing of clothles lol my myself am happy with just Blue-jeans lol
