What if we have Crysta shop items that include cosmetic enhancements, housing furniture, or in-game mounts for a limited time, and the option to exchange Gil in large quantities into Crysta?
Keep in mind if this feature is used strictly for Crysta, cosmetics skins, mounts, and furniture, it will not be a pay to win feature.
As it is for the moment, there are many ways to purchase Crysta, ranging from credit card payments, to paypal, and I imagine there might be a PSN feature for the PS3 version as well. However there is not many ways to utilize Crysta, so I was thinking of ways to make Crysta more functional to enhance our swag.
It is okay to disagree, but please leave interesting ideas below anyways. I for one would like to transfer gil into crysta.

I know I have a similar thread going.. but transfering gil you can earn playing into crysta wouldnt net any money for SE it would actually lose money. Somebody would have to first purchase the crysta and then sell it for gil in order to make it a profitable thing for SE.
And I am not a fan of cash shops unless there is a way to obtain it by trading your in game normal currency to other players for thier cash shop currency ( crysta ), therefore giving everyone equal oppurtunity. With game time you wouldnt have something in your hands nobody else does.. but special mounts and gear on the other hand... It's just not right in a subscription game to have unobtainable items for some -

as far as the idea of furniture goes, that wouldnt be a bad idea for a gil sink. I think they said we will have houses in ARR, a small affordable type and a bigger more expensive type.. being able to further customize the home by means of using gil would help create an even bigger gil sink. sinks are always good for the economy.
However at the same time, if there's no way to legally obtain gil for cash, there will be people willing to buy it from a 3rd party bad man site to get these items :\ RMT sucks -

Look... if it is cosmetic only then I have no problem with it. They will also need to be U/U.
Change your hair tokens, chocobo themed ballerina skirt with crap stats, sparkley fish tank for furniture where i can go buy a Ala fighting fish from the LL NPC and drop it in, all ok.
I am not ok with being able to purchase any items that will help your advancement in the game in any way or form nor am I ok with being able to convert Gil to Crysta or sell Crysta for Gil.
Anyway, not everyone can actually purchase Crysta in case you were unaware, so the whole issue is a moot point till that changes. -

This is giving an unfair advantage to people who pay more.
It's important to recognise that MMORPGs should not just be the usual 'hit level cap and grind dungeons for gear' -- I mean.. if you want the game to survive and be popular to an extent.
Everything in this game should be purchasable with gil.

Not in terms of hitting level cap, and getting 'end game' gear. But is that really all there is to a game? If all you do is look forward to hitting the highest level and getting the best items, then I'm afraid no MMORPG will stay popular or fun for a long period of time.
I refuse to pay more to access content outside of the 'western norm' (excluding GW2 - Nice direction they took) in games.
But anyway, your idea is sort of useless as everything you're coming up with can just be made purchasable with gil. -

Eorzea however now supports user created add-ons, giving power back to the player. Enix are unable to prevent the use of add-ons illegally so instead of spending a large amount of time and resources fighting it they have embraced it like many other businesses lately. Managing the content themselves allows them to enforce guidelines and decide what it is that is acceptable and is not. This benefits the players by bringing them closer together and preventing them from accessing dangerous and malicious material outside of the company's control!
Steam recently Greenlighted a community created version of Half Life. It's cooperation with fans like this that validates why Valve has so many loyal fans!
Whilst I don't like paying to achieve and people achieving what I have in a few clicks of a button takes away the value of my work however if Enix were to manage real money trading themselves then it would be done correctly and we wouldn't have the catastrophe that players encounter each and every day from RMT. -

The problem with turning gil into crysta, and then back into game time to make more gil, is that the cycle does not give SE any profit or even cover the maintenance costs for the servers. The only way the cycle could benefit SE is if there were other ways to generate revenue from players that spend more time playing the game, such as from necessary microtransactions or in-game ads (which I'm sure you don't want).

I personally think that if it is done similar to the plex system in Eve it would work well. If you don't know how the plex system works: You use RL cash to purchase a sellable in game time card. That item can be sold to other players and the value of that item is completely determined by the economy. It makes it very difficult for RMT's to make any money off of the game when the people who have been going to the RMT's for gill now can do it in a way that wont get there accounts banned. Also SE makes money off the deal. I do understand that it presents a "pay to win" option but that is mostly effective for new players only, and you start making some in game money the the purchase more gill option begins to lose it's value. For example, after getting to a point in eve you could make enough in game currency in a day do pay for the timecard.
I could spend al day talking about all the reasons I love this system but I will leave it at the basics.
In short, I think it's a great tool against RMT's and it can be good for the in game economy. In my opinion the pro's greatly outweigh the cons. -

Right, but what is proposed is the opposite of Plex. There's no reason for SE to do it unless they really want to pay out of pocket to remove gil from the economy, which would be odd.
