More mount types in ARR please

When I think of a fantasy game like Skyrim the first thing that comes to mind as a mount are horses.

Can we please have some horse mounts in ARR? Not everyone has to be using a chocobo give us some variety.

I believe Yoshi-P mentioned in the Special Talk Session that they will be adding more mount variety to ARR.

It would be cool if the new Summoner class could summon an ethereal steed or something along those lines.

There will be more.

Edit : But yet, for me the Chocobos replaces the horses in the FF universe...

Fern-something- stated that chocobos are from Eozrea, there are horses on Hydaelen.

Red Chocobos, Blue Chocobos, Green Chocobos, Black Chocobos, etc...

I don't mind the idea of summoned mounts of a few very sensibly chosen mounts, but I'd just prefer choco breading and lots of colour's and some variations..
Alter tails and things maybe, beak length or some with plooms or something around the head? dunno

But i really think choco's should be the main mounts, an by far the most common, it is FF after all.

Golden choco! lol, I loved breeding choco in VII

I'd rather them focus on making Chocobos more unique and robust instead of tossing a saddle on every toothed monster in the game.

Its in the game for sure. We just dont know how in depth. Though he did make a little joke that it is very colorfully done. If thats any sign of what to look forward to.

Well we do get a magitek mount that we ride by its neck - would have preferred being inside it. . . but maybe they didnt want to insinuate that we could use it for fighting.

Magitik cars maybe, I wouldn't mind those.

no on stupid mounts, chocobos, magitek, and the stupid goobu is enough. GW2 doesn't even have mounts sooooo be happy.

I was thinking about nyan moogles. Riding a rainbow shitting moogle.

I'd rather like to see mobs' mount like ahriman, drake, ogre. Of course the one I would fall in love with would be personal airship to fly over everything; but that will one day come for sure.

I think the coloured chocos looked kinda stupid.
But like someone else said, chocobos should be main mount as it is Final Fantasy after all. Just make them more customizable with different gear (like add more barding stuff etc like we already have).
I don't see the need to have loads of different mounts, I'd rather have something else in the game... Like pets we have at our house or something.

I would still like my Ahriman mount. Guess that lost out to the goobbue wtf!? i was hoping the ahriman would grab you with his feet and you would hover over the gound but not too high as to not make it like flying.

SE won't even have to insinuate... people will start demanding it days after it's implemented anyway. Not asking. Not suggesting. Demanding. How do I know? Because I read these forums.

It goes something like this...

"Well, -such and such- MMO*** lets you fight on your mount, so there's no excuse XIV can't, unless SE is lazy, because it's not that hard. They could totally do that in a week. I don't think he was ever actually in Gridania. They were riding around in areas outside Gridania, in the Black Shroud.

They'd already indicated that mounts in cities would be a no-go with the current version, and they never changed that opinion throughout all of Yoshi's time as Director/Producer. They haven't clarified one way or the other what would be the case for 2.0, but I'm inclined to think the same reasons that existed before still exist now.

My personal position on it is the same as before... leave mounts outside of Cities. The most compelling reason I've seen for it has been in line with people "just wanting to be able to". It doesn't add to immersion. It doesn't add to gameplay. It's an eyesore and an obstruction for people trying to find their way around or get to NPCs, etc.

Yeah I am in no way sure, that's just how it looked to me.

Hard to say also how I feel about it. I don't feel like it hinders anyone or detracts from immersion. I would say, however I wouldn't mind a automatic dismount for standing still for x minutes feature. If I want to use my bird to traverse a town it should be my right to do so, but if I just idle for hours at a AH window (if they ever get a clue) I think that's a bit obnoxious.

It won't bother me either way though.

Yea i think horses are the plain jane of mounts. They are really not appealing and very boring not that i think they would ever happen in this game. We do need more cool mounts though.

Horses wouldn't fit the world and would make Chocobos seem irrelevant. I personally only wanted Chocobos, but to late now. I just hope mounts don't become as gimmicky as they are in other games. It is worth remembering that only Chocobos can be customised with gear and fight with you in battle so they are still more awesome than anything else.

Horses? no way, this is Final Fantasy. Leave the horses to Odin lol. We will be getting more variety though. it's already started with the goobues

I wouldnt mind riding Odin's horse..... But yeah it wouldnt help chocobo's at all.
