Lousioix anticipates the summoning will fail?

Spoiler if you haven't defeated Nael Van Darnus or done the pilgrimage (sorta)


recently i had to watch through the cutscenes again to get screenshots to share storyline with LS members who aren't playing 1.0 and it just seems that Lousioix seemed to be hiding something.

Louisoix although his preparing to summon forth the twelve through the player character he has some doubt's it' would succeed. We know that 2.0 is comming and that in the Trailer they said "we sent the strongest of us through to the future" - and as Louisoix says

"Ever have you blazed the path, a guiding light for men to follow."
"where men go as one, there is life. And where there is life, There is cause for hope."
"If i can but see you to a new future, i should want for nothing more."

So he is saying that as a Guiding light that men would follow you could be a rallying point, for if men follow you there is assuredly life and if there is life there is hope in extension insuring your survival and sending you to a new future would be insuring the hope of life?

so basically Your his insurance that should the summoning fail like he anticipates that at least you will be spared because you are the hope that the next era will be saved?

I am going to take a guess that we went on that pilgrimage to become godly ourselves, in a way. That being said, he is able to summon us into the future. Other than that, I'm dumb or something xD

I had a little bit of trouble following, but I think I got it and mostly agree. Take the prophecy as a guideline:

Stay seeds quicken in ash's grey embrace,
Valiant blades forged under the Twelve's good grace.

I believe Louisoix feels the summoning of the Twelve will work, but it won't necessarily be enough to avert the catastrophe right now. This is, for all intents and purposes, a last ditch effort. Dalamud is falling still and there's nothing that can be done in the time remaining but hope the Twelve can be summoned and some of Eorzea can be saved. So, it's the "last resort," according to Cid in Louisoix's words (this is said in the instance right after Darnus is defeated).

And, as Urianger says at the end of Living on a Prayer:

Dire though they may seem upon first hearing, the words of Mezaya Thousand Eyes are, in sooth, a promise of salvation. Yet whence that salvation wouldst come, no man can say.

Louisoix goes onto say that, "Hereafter, I make ready to receive Dalamud...", which, to me, says that while he's sure of our position and place in the things to come, he's not very certain of his capabilities and whether the Twelve will listen to our plea. As a result I believe that's why, in the end, he'll take action to preserve our lives so that we may be the salvation Eorzea needs when the time is right.

Ultimately: yes, I agree he's uncertain as to whether or not the summoning will work, and yes, he has faith that we're what will usher in the salvation, whether it's the summoning or some unforeseen act in the future.

Before he sends us to the other era, im going to get all the history on all the chocobo race standings and make billions.

So basically what I'm seeing here is Louisoix is the Gman and we are Gordon Freeman? So then the Garleans are the Combine?

Thanks Kory some of that i missed and you help clear it up. especially the part where some of Eorzea might be saved and others being damaged cause it explains the look of some of 2.0s Concept art very closely.


it'll be interesting to see what happens from what Lousioix says the next mission/s involve fighting some kind of monstrosity during the summoning and fighting VIIth legion

My husband and I are kind of hoping that the final mission or cutscene or whatever they decide to end it with will be something you do when you've decided you're done until 2.0. So maybe they'll add another couple of missions--one to deal with the monstrosity summoned in the chaos, and maybe one to see your grand company before the end (I'd love to see the three generals, Cid, and the Circle of Knowing one last time), and then I think it would be cool if the last one was similar to Zack's final stand from FFVII/Crisis Core--a losing battle but one you still rush headlong into, and then you're done till 2.0!

Of course there'd have to be a lot of warning and preparation, but I think it'd be neat.^^

Something else mildly curious, but I was recently looking through some older quests and saw that Y'shtola, the Miqote disciple of the Circle of Knowing, said:

We know now that Louisoix is their leader, so what could Daybreak be? Well, food for thought, I guess. :)

It does seem that he knows it might fail. The entire idea is a last ditch effort, He knows ful well if it even works the entire realm is pretty much screwed. We fought to stop the world from being warped by 3 primals one at a time, We plan to summon 12 stronger ones at once. So it makes sense that we's planned ahead to send hope to the future encase the world isn't completely wrecked.

And while I'd love to see the final battle in game, I doubt we will. We've gottne the acheivment and reward for completing the whole meteor project storyline already. We have the power of the echo, I'm not sure if 2.0 will retcon that. Part of me hopes it does, but part of me wants us to be able to look back and see what the hell actually happened, and get to fight in the battle once more. but guess that story was covered by wings of the goddess where we were the ones who saved ourselves 20 years ago and all.

I noticed that at the end of Living on a prayer (correct quest you are talking about) as well.

THe last cutscne in Raven nevermore casts a bit of light that the past will blaze in fire and the chosen snet forth in blinding light to reforge a disrupted Erozea. A little of the enenergy of the 12 was bestowed in the chosen.

It would be good to see all the Generals again before the final fight, but like Y'shtola said in 'living on a prayer' she leaves your company in Limsa Lominsa to tell the allied councel the location of the 7th Legion presumably to get them ready on the final result.
I don't know what SE has planned but if it's something like, you meet the allied council for "one last charge into the breach"
go to Mor Dhona fight VIIth legion soldiers for a set time period so that Lousioix can complete the summoning and then fight the abomination created by the twelves presence would be great. That way you could see everyone one last time and participate in fighting the Legion, it'd be good if the monstrosity was soloable that way people could do it at their leisure if SE makes it like you said, ends game play until 2.0.

about the Divine Chronicles i don't know much about it but with the PLD relic sword Curtana is mentioned to be one of 3 Divine Blades from the Sultan Sworn so many Daybreak is another of the three.
though Daybreak sounds very familiar as well to Dawnbreaker ( ? ) The sword in FFXI storyline that completely destroyed the Tavnazia Archipelago and sunk it to the sea.

I'm not certain. The meteor is almost here. We saw the cutscenes. Not don't there will be a final battle before shut down.

Hopefully thye have different leveled ones that all peopel can take part in. THose that got as far as Livign on a prayer can partake in the upper levels and get a closing cutscene.

Probably will be area battles in waves. OF group fights since there is a limit with the engines ability to display large amounts of characters on screen.
