Has there been any word on what will happen to all those old "dated" items we may still be carrying around? Not like it's the end of the world if they want to axe them entirely, but is this to be assumed? Has anything been said? I know I have a few things kicking around that I still use on lowbie jobs, stuff I haven't felt the need to replace with modern versions. I don't mind replacing them, but it would be nice to hear if they are just going to vanish into the ether or something.

I think they should stay in game not just because I personally own a lot of dated stuff and some of it is my favorite gear and whats left of dated stuff is good for materia; but imagine if you're one of the players who left a while back, and you come back in 2.0 to find that...ALL your gear is gone...
They should just find a way to pay attention to which items are in the game currently, and erase from the dats the ones that aren't. And as people NPC stuff and convert it to materia, the dated stuff will naturally cycle out. -

I'm pretty sure they are just going to remove the recipes so that they cannot be remade in the future. Then they'll simply allow them to gradually disappear as people SB or vendor them.

I sure hope they don't get rid of them. I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, but I keep a few items just because I'm sort of attached to them. Like my first hauby. Plus, it might be kind of fun to look back at the Dated stuff when it's not available anymore. Kind of like it's Legacy exclusive gear. :)

Currently it is possible to perform synthesis using old recipes even after the recipe revamps, but when A Realm Reborn is launched, players will no longer be able to synthesize things using these old recipes. On top of not being able to synth these older items, “dated” items will be considered “Untradable” items.
You don’t have to worry about your dated items disappearing but make sure to obtain the old items that you’d like to keep on your character before ARR arrives!

Should just delete all dated items... They serve absolutely no purpose and will just be more items that need to be kept in the database for no other reason than "just cuz" or "omg memories".

Seeing as I just came back to the game recently and 99% of my inventory is dated... this is kinda a heavy blow to me, but eh.. what can we do :\ maybe I can offload some of it somehow now( not really, nobody buys it anymore because you killed it) ... vendoring it when we paid a hell of alot more is not sounding like a fun night for me.. but again, you have made your desicion.. you get final say, but remember you will have alot of upset customers when they see it.. lets just hope they can shrug it off as easy as I am trying to lol

i want to keep my velveteen doublet vest, since there isn't any non-dated gear like it. and some other pieces that i like to dress my retainers in, like a uniform, no new gear looks like it.
