ELI5 please
Thank you for making thatvreaction apply to everyone, not just the women characters.
The difference is that he calls you something different based on your gender:
- To males: "Handsome"
- To females: "Beautiful"
But it's fantastic that they had a bi/pan-sexual character represented in the game that actually gives you such a flirtatious compliment.
People are so starved for representation that they will hallucinate it
This isn't really representation and doesn't deserve any praise
You don't like that some people feel represented?
I don't know if you meant to reply to me, but nothing else makes sense, so I will reply
I don't like people patting the million-dollar corporation on the back for "representation" where there really is none
This "representation" only exist on a meta level, the NPC is WOLsexual and not truly bisexual or gay
If you consider that representation, then that's fine, but I don't really agree with it
People should have higher standards for representation than that, but maybe asking XIV players for higher standards is a fools errand
It felt like harassment
Interesting. I interpreted it as him just trying to butter me up to get work.
I think the NPC was just being super friendly to a stranger (me). Either way it gave me a good laugh lol.
I will never know if it's an actual representation, only the writer knows about it. But imo that's not for me to decide. Interpret however you like, just don't sh!t on other's plate.
I thought this was a cute little detail!
So far all I'm reading from your reply is "this isn't representation because I say so even though I have yet to explain as to why, and if you still think it is then your standards are abysmal".
Also, this is a seasonal quest that is available at lvl15, at which point any unknown sprout adventurer will get it... Whatever Wolsexual is even supposed to mean anyway.
I just feel like you were looking for an opportunity to piss in the OP's cheerios because they felt represented, which frankly, is crummy no matter how you try to justify it. Just let people interpret things how they want, why do you care anyway
WOLSexual, adjective
1. of, relating to, or associated with sex or the sexes, or one's personal belief that their fantasy-based character has specific orientation in their own mind and isn't based on any factual real-world representation regarding a 'Warrior of Light', originating upon lore from Square Enix's critically acclaimed online MMO, Final Fantasy XIV.
There, I made up a definition that hopefully anyone can live with.
