Yes yes very funny SE. Can I humbly request that we skip this feature for the next few expansions? We barely get any interiors in the overworld as is.

Or instead of taking away a fun feature for some players just add more regular interiors for everyone else.
I'm sure the devs were ready for some bitterness from races that aren't lalafells trying to enter their spaces. It's all by design.
At least make the doors so small that a max height Roe can't reasonably enter by ducking.
I thought this was about the Dwarf homes on the First and then got very confused when seeing the actual screenshot.
It does make me wonder if Square-Enix is savvy about "no Lalafell allowed" social spaces, so them making "Lalafell only allowed" spots is their way of poking fun at that, lol.
I wouldn't doubt that since the Lalafell discrimination (that's a strong word but it's all I got to describe it) really isn't a thing in the casual JP community or at least is anything like the English speaking one.
Also, there really isn't much in these buildings for other races to really feel like they're missing out. It's just a silly easter egg for our only short race.
Yoshi-P mains a Lalafell Black Mage. It's fine, you're not actually missing out.
Oh, I think we can let the walking emergency food supplies have a little bit of fun and feelings of exclusivity before they're fattened up and sent to simmer in the stewpot...
Annnd.. of course by that I mean it's just a lore thing. Don't take it too personally.
I can understand feeling a little bad when the game has consistently stopped giving us nice interiors like we had everywhere in ARR—expansion maps have been such a downgrade on everything overall and we have yet to catch onto the level building quality of ARR from 12 years ago...
And when they finally decide to add back some of those, only to discover that they're barred to all race choices but lala? I think it's definitely a design choice of poor taste, no matter how you'd like to ad hominem the OP for it...
What spurred me to post this was, in fact, finding that the entire Pelupelu side of Urqopacha has not a single interior you can enter as a non-Lalafell. There is an inn for travelers in the north-east-ish part of the map that could've been a good excuse to have Pelu styled interior in a taller house... but those rooms are locked off.
Overall. It's not the end of the world. Its just annoying since good interiors are a rarity.
Every race deserves a place only available to them.
Suggestion, implement some optional side quest that gives you a 'mini' scroll key item. Use it to apply transformation buff, enter building. Or incorporate it as a permanent key item in the mainline story which has this fringe benefit and a throwaway line to hint at such.
Reminds me a little of that bar in XI where it rotates between what races can enter.
I like it :) no talls
I'd be fine with it, if it was somewhat balanced out. Add an equal number of places that Lallafel can not enter. Add some step that are to high for Lalaffel or something.
I'm so sorry we don't see eye-to-eye on this matter and cordially invite you to try out a lalafellian exclusive item recently purchased that I feel will alter your perspective and elevate discourse. We only have one such article at present, but we shall diligently work around the clock to install more should it raise the bar for our short limbed friends.

Need some places with a BIG front step on the porch to get in so non-lalas are restricted from entry.
End the discrimination against Talls, no more single-race spaces! Tell those popotos to build a bigger house!

Being serious I can see both sides of the argument I guess. We have so few interesting or actually accessible interiors that it’s sad to get locked out of one because of race.
At the same time though, isn’t the whole point of video games having those kinds of fun/interesting/weird features? Like houses only Lalafells can enter, or like a weird food only specific races can digest, areas only accessible by certain races or whatever. I think it’s part of making a ‘game world that feels like an actual world’ and not just backdrops to look at while waiting for raid queues
Actually, though, where DID the weird, almost mean spirited sounding memes against Lalafell stem from? I don't actually know why it's such a thing.
I knew they built/originated from Sil’dih but I didn’t know about Ul’dah being already established before they took it over, which does explain why it’s superficially ‘built for other races than Lalafell’ than say, Tomra. Honestly I barely remember much of that lore; did the Sil’dih not have some relation to Mhach as well? Or maybe I’m just assuming because ‘both black mages’ lol.
That being said it’d be cool if (however it came about, echo or whatever) we got to see Sil’dih and they all live in buildings too small for other races to enter. Like Tomra on a bigger scale? lol
I mean I can’t speak for anyone else but I put the /s thing to denote that it was a joke/sarcastic comment not meant to be taken seriously. Personally I think it’s good that Lalafell are shown to have their own unique cultures/architectures/etc and they should use more of it. Rather than them taking the easy route and just having everything be the same size / structure / etc.
They are little amorphous potato people that it seem like a majority will always be on extremes about, either disliking them, or feeling like they are the only race that feels right, which leads to both "racism" and "supremacy" memes, with neither side knowing where to draw a line, and simply because the anti-Lalafell side is more numerous, that side ends up feeling a lot louder.
My only take on Lalas is that after years of watching Lala players unironically demand to be taken serious, I played a Lala alt, and now my ability to take them seriously has been immensely reduced, they straight up have cartoon physics on some emotes...
Lalafell built Belah'dia which separated into Sil'dih and Ul'dah. Both built by lalafell. Or at least ruled by lalafell; they've been in Sil'dih and Ul'dah well and truly long enough for the architecture to reflect their influence, but apparently lalafell like building things much too big for them.
As far as memes against (or for) lalas go...I don't know. I wouldn't find them creepy if the game didn't have dirty old man lalafells and intimations of hyurs and roegadyn finding Tataru sexually attractive. But since it does, and many of their emotes are childlike, I find them creepy and try to ignore them (except on my alt that is always dressed as a moogle--dwarves also mitigate the creepiness somewhat).
There's also a Pelupelu house in Wachunpelo with the same restriction which I guess makes sense since they're another small race.
Personally I think the bit is funny and a neat little easter egg for Lala players - I will however complain about the Pelupelu house having the restriction though because as a minimum height femra.... I can definitely fit through the door, let me in!!!

Maybe we should just accept that there are some spaces that are unavailable to the inferior races.
If lala only is allowed, make other race-exclusive areas too, that would make way more sense than just skipping this the next expansion, after all lala only areas are in the game already.
Roegadyn-only area: Gym
Au Ra-only area: Sunbathing spot
Hrothgar-only area: Barber/hair salon
Miqo'te-only area: Hunting ground
Viera-only area: Femboy hooters
Oh, that house. I forgot where I've seen it, but there was a streamer's clip that had a Godbert player dancing his way into the house with the Manderville mambo.
Oh I didn't know they added another Lalafell only house this expansion, that's fun! :D
Going to go check it out later today!
They've given enough free fantasias this expansion that if you want to go check it out then you can just drink your magic juice, go in the house, and then revert back to whatever race you want, as long as you do it within an hour. These are just flavor locations, its not deep enough to get so upset over.
I understand that you want more overworld interiors and I think that's a pretty darn good idea myself.
I also am pleased to have some kind of meaningful(?) range of options for the little folk.
