I'm kind of tired of the "gacha" on the Cosmic Exploration worlds.

I understand that the RNG is there to stretch out the content, but the actual experience of engaging with it just isn’t rewarding. Spending 10–15 minutes gathering drone bit chests only to turn them in to get fireworks, materia, or minions worth less than 50 gil doesn’t feel rewarding at all.

Cosmic Fortune has the same issue. For two planets now, I’ve ended up buying the items from the market board because all I ever pull are prisms, materia, or furniture.

And before anyone says “the content has only been out for three days” this is the exact same "reward" loop that's been there for two planets now. It consistently feels unrewarding no matter which planet you engage with it.

Again, I understand why the system exists, but could we at least get some form of bad‑luck protection? Something similar to what you implemented for the First Light relic rewards in Pilgrim’s Traverse?

Maybe for every "bad" reward be it the materia, prisms, fireworks, you get a counter and if the counter reaches x you are guaranteed to get one of the rarer rewards?

I agree, I think they should implement a pity system at least. Maybe SE thinks because there's "no real money" involved they don't need a pity system. But time is also valuable (+ it's also sub money) and if you collect credits and drone bits over and over again and don't get anything out of it then at some point you start to think why bother. You could use that time to do content that's more fun.

I spent a full day doing the gold gathering loop until I had enough gold for 40 dronebits, I got the following artifacts:

When it first came out I nicknamed Cosmic Fortunes “The Wheel of Pain” but it’s ended up not so bad for me. On both Sinus Ardorum and Phaenna I ended up getting everything from it while I upgraded my tools and ground cosmocredits for the purchasable one-time items and various dyes. That’s mild good luck, but if I had been unlucky the deterministic grind would have also given time for anything I particularly wanted to come down in price on the market board. I have not checked out the new dronebit system on Oizys, but I suppose time will tell if it’s better or worse than Cosmic Fortunes.

I don't want a pity system, that would just make it more of a gatcha. Just get rid of some of the junk like normal cordials/water cordials and replace them with hi-cordials, stuff like that. Attach a flat reward to them like some cosmic credits.

I built my FC workshop only to farm Gil so I can buy rewards like these, which means that I am not engaging with the content that much anymore, which means the game becomes stale and obsolete. If Winterers expansion doesn't drastically change this course, then I might lose any reason to stay subscribed. So yeah, I hope they will implement some actual FUN mechanics cause just buying MB rewards is not a real solution.

That's not really a bad luck protection as much as it is "I don't want to touch this content"

and using market board as a cop out excuse for not improving a miserable system is not really a good precedent to create.

That'd depend upon the rarity of items. Mounts and emotes would probably not sell below a few million for a very long time.

Agreed, I went back to do the Ishgard Restoration and the Moogle fortune cards were p miserable for me too =/

I would have to redeem them each stack so I could get worthless items and repeat when I was crafting for Sky builder credits which were often in the thousands too.

Finally, I usually always buy all the earlier old Cosmo rewards, but so far the new emote is around 17m and the spider robot mount is around 7m so I'll be waiting a few more weeks before they are more affordable to me too.

all phaenna items are below 200k for months, it wont take a long time. Give it 4 weeks at the very max

What I find the most annoying isn't even the gamba, since for the gamba wheel you eventually start getting most things if you're active in the content enough to just make your relics go up, and whatever you're left without because of bad luck you still have the market once prices have plummeted...

What I find the most annoying is the time actually spent to run all over the map just to gather trash junk like everything that's not a gold chest essentially. So the overwhelming majority of those dronebit endeavors. Feels like the content is really trying to make me waste my time, which is really something after the producer has been talking constantly about how the time players have is valuable in the past months. That has to be a joke.

I had 76 drone chests after completing all relics, took me 2-3 hours collecting them all, I got absolutely nothing worthwhile out of them. Great respect of my time, SE!

Disappointed with "archaeology" just being more gambling. I wish gatherers had some proper archaeological gameplay... *cough*

How it feels not giving a crap about Cosmic Exploration and not having to deal with the awful gacha system.

I mean I guess they need a way to pad out as much of your gametime as possible but doing that as well as churning out more recolors of the same boring mounts is kinda spitting in players' faces imo.

After playing around with it a little, this system really is a waste of time.

The only prize that's maintained some value is one mount, which I guess is a new one. So the pool is essentially: one mount. With 20 or so items getting devalued in the market, 10 low value items, and various worthless items. I think Controlled Chaos went from 200k to 2k in less than 24 hours.
So a lot of content that used to be good for gil, just got worse, and for what? So they could say they added a system? It's like the Crescent Isle chests all over again, but probably even more worthless.

I'm curious, is the market flooded with mounts that won't shift?
Or a quite limited supply that even though it is, still doesn't shift?

Most of those sell for cheap after a few days since everybody bots crafting relics so we get abundance of items. Including the ones where you need mount tokens. Why would someone farm and waste his time on that when you can buy it mega cheap after 1-2 week?

I absolutely despise the records. There's nothing fun about spending 5 minutes running around to get junk. Guessing they wanted to give us a reason to go back, especially with only 3 relic steps this time, but man. This is not the way.

I'm referring to the mount and emote that you have to rng drone modules to get, specifically the latest ones. Since it is locked behind this mechanic, the supply of those items would remain quite low for a while, so their prices would remain high.

The mount and emote is probably never going to dip too low in price because it's a hassle to get the items. And quite frankly I'm happy about it, because it's a source of gil for people willing to do it.

The only thing that's going to happen is that the people with 5 submarine farms will just buy the chests or items and funnel their gil into other players and get their gil back within two weeks, further increasing the amount of gil in circulation.

Bumping this back to the front page based on further drone module farming sadness.

Yesterday I gathered and uncovered 79 relics (I must be well over 400 by now by my recollection) and of those 4 were gold and yes, you guessed it I got 4 old hairstyles. It took me 2 hours to uncover them all.

The idea, even if it's gatcha, is fine and it's something a little different for when you're done with your relic tools of choice, but the loot tables being stuffed with worthless items means that I don't break even if I decide to purchase the modules vs hard farm them.

More rewards by 7.X should NEVER have meant stuffing the new OC/CE/DD content with 1 or 2 new items and the rest be literal old crap you'll certainly have (or can buy with pocket change on the MB) if you've played the game for more than an expansion.

The devs have always been really bad at RNG and droprates for items, but wow do these drone artifacts suck.

The only way to get either of the new items is from a gold lootbox? The bronze and silver only have old garbage? And even if you get a gold lootbox you might still just get old garbage?

Yeah, the new emote has been around like 14m for a few days now, but I guess I'll probably never get it since that's way over my budget for emotes too.

For me, it's not just one the moon but everywhere, like in OC.

It's nice to have rewards, don't get me wrong. But, look at anything from OC or Cosmic exploration : The price of the rewards gets so low because the rewards are way too easy to get with just pure RNG.

It's been a while since I felt a "Yes! I've finally got it!" moment like I had with my copycat bulb in Eureka. Yes, there is still some RNG here on the drop, but, you actually have to work to make the Cassie fate pop, then, clear it. It gave some sense of engagement back then, a reason to keep going with the relics, while it is highly satisfying when it drops - And more important, the drops are ok so many people got it, but, not way too often that the minion is worthless after 1-2 week.

I love cute mount, cute minion, but, I also love to earn them. To feel that I've worked for them.

And for that, lootboxs are so dissapointing. SE, you don't have to give everything inside a lootbox, and make it so easy to get.

For cosmic exploration, instead of getting drops from gold/silver/bronze artifact... I would have prefer to have chances of actually finding parts of artifacts or a currency that allow me, eventually, to reassemble the parts into something - a mount, minion, emotes, anything. And not something that drop too often. I would be ok with the "you need to farm at least 50 gold artifact for a mount".

RNG is not always a problem, and in MMO you have to put some RNG so people have something to do, but bad rng exists... And giving too much rewards too easily is also bad rng.

That's probably it. Everything is for new players that play the game for a month or so, so that they can do the new content instead of having to do "old" content to get those rewards.

The closest i can think of a "bad luck protection" or a pity system for cosmic fortunes (a.k.a scammingway's wheel of scams) would be the Big Bang tickets or the eventual pity rolls/guaranteed drops you get after having done enough times. Flawed but if you engage with the content long enough you will get everything there.

The drone bit archaeology gacha though is just straight up horrid. My advice to anyone would be to save the containers (the drone modules, or the sacks themselves) until they adjust the drop rate values from the feedback everyone is giving them. Since you can store them up best to wait imo.

I don't have any idea why the artifact / drone system has RNG within RNG. First it's random what chest you get (bronze/silver/gold), and then it's further random what item you even get from the chest.

For those that do remember about the bunny fates in Pyros, it used to be the same kind of soul crushing rng:

1) hope you actually get a bunny among the 100+ players doing the fate with you
2) hope you get a gold chest (extremely low rate)
3) hope you get the actual loot you're after

Needless to say, anybody that can run a binomial probability equation (there is calculators on the internet for that) will quickly see how low the rates for what you're after actually plummet. But beyond the math, even when you win, you still lose in the next rng step, that's very masochistic to play in a way.

The only thing that really annoys me is getting cordials or fireworks on Big Bang wheel spins lol if I’m not getting the super shiny minion, mount, emote or glam out of it, at least give me rare dyes or materia 12s.

Implement something that could be fun -> proceeds to put unnecessary materia as main rewards and 95% chance to just pull them. If you are lucky into 5% then you get useless glamour gear that costs 50 gil at marketboard.

How many of you did deep dungeons and you wonder "should I get this hoard from higher levels and risk dying?". You get it, you waste time only to realize that from those 3-4 gold / plat ultra rare hoards you get 3-4 materia lol.
