8.0 massive class balience reworking

Its funny posted while back that 8.0 gonna have a lot job re-baliance and reworks people where like (show links or not happening)

but every time yoshi-p opens his month every interview he has hes spelling it out clear as day. unless people living under rock snorting copium. 8.0 isnt gonna be like last expansions always had. hoping 8.0 job ability reveal be as boring as they always have. think again. they are actually doing something alot ppl may not like but at least there doing something

8.0 isnt coming out until 2026-2027. why do think its talking so long. long like realm reborn long before heavenward came out. we getting something big really big.

I'll believe it when I see it. Yoship cant even say any specific ideas or direction they want to take the job rework into apart from not wanting to touch combat design but that is exactly what constrains job design so much nowadays. As of now there is 0 reason to believe SE is actually going to shake things up in terms of job design. They didnt even get creative with phantom jobs.

Yoshi-P specificly said about 20 so interviews now that 8.0 is about job -re-balancing and changing there whole thought job design. countless times. if think other wise your on copium. how daft one must be think that there not gonna do anything saying it 20 or so times in last year or so even before dawn trail was released

the biggest thing they could do is a level squish down so that every job has their full kit up to 100 in all the ultimate fights (so it needs to be squished to a minimum of level 70, ideally more). this also has the benefit of fixing the issue a lot of jobs have where they lose a significant portion of their damage when they sync down. (viper, reaper, black mage, etc.)

if they that that then they need remove all base jobs from the game and job crystals are no longer a equitable item and probably start any class you wanted to at level 1 watch also also be very good for the game if level cap 70. be able to play any job want from level 1 not mention reworking all class quests cause there is f-ton of them

First and foremost, 8.0 is taking longer to come out than previous expansions because we went from 3.5 months patch schedule to 4.5 months patch schedule over the years. When it's taking longer for major patches to come out, logically, that means that the future expansion release date will shift accordingly. That will keep being the case for expansions coming after 8.0 as well, as I don't think that they'll ever shift back to 3.5 months schedule.

As for what's planned for the content to come, we'll see first bits of it during first FanFest in April. We have job re-balance happen every two years in one form or another, and while it looks like they're planning general QoL and balance updates to be the central point of 8.0, I don't think there's much point in broad speculations about what it's going to be until it actually comes. Yoshi-P can't say anything concrete until the release anyway.

that would require reworking all of the original jobs, as well as reworking all of the original job quests. it might be too big of an ask

Actions trump words but he does mention it often and I see no reason why he would lie. If anything they will try and it will be disappointing before not happening at all.

You say you want those of us who don't believe in 8.0's ability to live up to the expectations of job design to be wrong, and to look at someone like you and go "you were right!"

Well, yeah... Me too. I think I speak for all of us who lack faith in 8.0 when I say that we would love to be proven wrong. There's not much else in the world of gaming that I'd be more happy to eat my words about than this. I don't take pleasure in doubting XIV and then being proven right. It sucks.

Yoshi-P also said jobs would not get simpler in an interview that released 6 months before the release of Dawntrail. We should not be praising promises.

I can count on zero hands the number of MMOs that have massively reworked all job classes after 10 years and it has gone well.

I would wager the bulk of subs are players who play for the story and overall vibe of an expansion and no amount of lying works on them. Hence we have DT where honestly, content in general is not that bad. Its mainly story that repelled everyone away.

Let's be honest job design was largely already ruined in Endwalker outside BLM but it was tolerated because EW was highly rated. It was only when the story went beyond the Zodiark arc that the game saw a very slow decline over a long period.

It taking that long has nothing to do with the reworks. It's just their formula to take that long now. And we all know that once SE has a formula, they stick with it.

They talked about "Skill Trees, Talents and Ability Points" as ideas they were discussing for 8.0 in an interview prior to 7.0 release. They clarified these were just ideas being floated, and not what they would definitely do. But given just about every other game, especially in this genre, does this successfully to avoid the problems SE currently has with jobs being "samey", it's the most likely scenario.

Blue Mage has a successful implementation of this although it's not got the sort of User Interface that would accompany it in most games, so we already know it can work.

Rebalancing and changing can have a lot of different levels. We may see huge changes just like we may see really superficial ones, simply because Yoshida doesn't disclose what is the design philosophy coming into this rework. We just don't know what to expect.

People like myself thought encounter design would be drastically changed based on what they hyped through Dawntrail's Fanfests - and it happens is more of the same, just faster. Still better than what we had in Endwalker, but still in their safe formula.
