Commendation Crystals? Can we purchase them?

What is with the Red Commendation crystals being only available at extremely high ranks for Crystal Conflict? Can that be changed?

And before everyone of y'all come out of the woodwork to lambast with GitGuDlOl! YoU jUsT sUcK.

What would be the trade-offs you'd find to be acceptable to earn them in a way that you can get them even if you can't make it to the higher ranks. How about if you can't obtain them through skill, how about through time invested? Meaning you'd have to buy a whole bunch of wolf collars from the trophy crystals from the pvp rewards board. I'd pay 30 or so wolf collars for one.

That seems like a fair trade off of playtime. On top of the 10 wolf collars already needed to purchase a hellhound weapon, that's like what 3-4 months of play for a regular player to earn a single weapon. Since you'd need two crystals for an augmented version. That's 70 wolf collars minimum to purchase. Maybe round it up to 45 collars a crystal so it'd be an even 100 collars per augmented hellhound weapon. That satifies any argument against this no? Time vs Skill/Luck.

Again that seems fair. That's an equivalent trade-off for time invested. And it allows the players that can't go up in ranks to eventually earn one. Eventually being the key phrase.

And I can hear the elitists saying some dumb stuff like 'oh but it'll diminish the sanctity of the weapon'. Forget that, the amoumt of time it takes to even level the pvp rewards board and then to even rank up in CC, it'd be a cold day in hell before anyone that doesn't play 16/7 be able to get ahold of one. So respectfully, spare me the sanctimonious high horse talk.

Honestly i don't Enjoy the hellhound weapons or how some of them look. I mean it be nice to spend some wolf collars or such after finishing the series. Be cool if you spend 300 colalrs you can make some of the pvp job gear (which i think its based upon the 80 AF gear) be used for other classes

I mean these weapons should be a bit rarity. Nobody wants to see them around too much or it would mean nothing. They are already rare because it requires that you are at least diamond for 1 crystal. So 2 seasons are needed. Before, seasons would last much longer so it would require even more playing. It also shows that you know how to play pvp and crystaline conflict in general.

Reaching diamond rank on itself isn't that hard considering that many people get lucky streaks these days and just get to their desired ranks while being absolute anchors to carry otherwise. So if you get a lucky streak, you might as well rank up easily. Platinum has no demote, so you can be plat 4 very easily.

Also play one job, trick pony it and just play that one. Learn its spells, learn other jobs and what they can do against you, learn their cooldowns and learn CC.

Learn to play VPR currently, people have no idea how to even kill one below crystal.

Okay give me ultimate weapon for grand company seals, and we have a deal

It is just not. It is maybe for you, but I can get like 25 collars by playing one weekend series. So what do you think players are doing if they can go A) play ranked 100-400 victories on average? so double that for matches played - if not even more for those that grind their win streak.
Grinding wolf collars must be less efficient than playing ranked.
Then you also have players that played The Feast, and with the collar changes now sit on hundreds of wolf collars, yeah me. I can just buy all the Commendation Crystals then and have no single reason to ever play ranked again. I guess some other PvP players are the same - so ranked would be less populated, as maybe they wanted 2-3 weapons with glowing effects - now they don't even have to play for it. Like what's the carrot on the stick here then?

I guess in 8.1 they could add new ranked unique items to obtain, and put commendation crystal as part of the series rewards as well on rank 14/29 or something. Then you can play series and get 1 weapon I guess. While there were 2 PvP ranked seasons in the same timeframe.

While i do understand fomo and wanting something u cant currently get.. you cant really have them hand u a reward for high rank pvp on a silver platter. Its all decided on ranking so if u dont even play rank why get a ranked weapon?
That's like asking for an ultimate weapon but u never played ulti. I mean we have glowing trial weapons so its a decent trade off and if u want something cooler n exclusive then... play ranked?
Ur asking them to remove the incentive of playing ranked pvp.

Perhaps they could make it so ranks the Platinum and lower get a certain amount of "commendation shards", where a certain number of these could be traded in for 1 commendation crystal.
This is similar to what some other games with ranked pvp use for rewarding players of all skill levels, to encourage people to keep playing, and continue pushing to improve their rank throughout the whole season.
Without incentives for lower rank players to regularly play ranked pvp, the queues for those ranks can often die out before the end of the season; preventing both those at that skill level and individuals that wish to begin climbing ranked later into the season from playing.

While this might not be the best implementation or what everyone agrees with, it may be fitting if the devs plan to add further ranked pvp rewards purchasable with commendation crystals.
I find that new items should be added, as many players who have consistently placed high in ranked, are already sitting on tons of commendation crystals that they nothing left to spend them on.
With the right balance, the rarity of these items could be preserved, with better players able to get newer items immediately, while those that finish in lower ranks may be able to save up to purchase them at a much later date.
This would make commendation comparable to how players can clear and farm extreme/savage rewards either current, later into the same expansion with better gear and echo, or unsynced years later, rather than equating commendation crystals with ultimate weapons (I understand that this is not something all players would agree upon).

The ironic thing is that we had this system, wolf collars were given out precisely because there was only top100 rewards and nothing else. So suddenly every tier got a wolf collar amount at least, even if it was lower for lower tiers, which made everyone get something finally. Great system on paper. Which relied on one thing, like you said "if the devs plan to add further ranked pvp rewards ". Well, they didn't. Changing the system now, assuming they do, feels rushed. I was never a fan of the commendation crystal I think, I wanted wolf collars to stay valuable, because now they became inflated.
And the only way forward seems to be to add even newer reward item, that replaces the old one now. This all wouldn't have been necessary if top100/300 kept their ranking reward items in the first place - but as they do get nothing but a potrait background now, there needed to be new incentive. So new is always better right? Nope. But whatever. I really like that they did the animation effect to hellhound weapons though, I requested it multiple times - it was a good way to breath new life into it.

Almost like they need a new item to do what wolf collars did - item amount based on ranking tier - so you can slowly accumulate it, even if you are bad in PvP - you will get your item. But now you can buy wolf collar by crystals, so wolf collars are no longer suitable for it. I guess could do something like Silver-Platinum gets 1, Diamond and Crystal 2, Omega and Ultima 3 Crystals. I still feel like you should get them from the Ranked Mode at least, and not by playing frontline with roleplayers.

I am always curious about people who post these things.
What are their credentials? How much pvp do they play?

There are so many weapons in this game. Literally hundreds. But you want this specific one that comes with a highest level of achievement for CC. It's not even that good of a weapon in my opinion. So why do you need it?
You wouldn't come to an ultimate raid forum and ask for an easier way to obtain weapons, would you?

There is a lack of pvp achievements that force people to aim for higher skill... especially for CC.

They wanted the crystals for weapons upgrades tied exclusively to queuing in ranked crystalline conflict, and you're asking that they make it available for purchase using a currency that's obtainable through cc, frontlines, or rival wings.

If your argument is that you should be able to invest time to get something that normally requires skill, just use that time to actually develop that skill. This would quite literally solve your conundrum and take the same as if not less than your proposal. If they wanted it available for wolf collars, it would be.

I do think we need more things purchasable with Wolf Collars though.

Oh wow it really does. I'm guessing PVP is not so popular in China?

I think its a little silly to be able to purchase them, but I can see them reworking how the rewards are gained via PvP Rank and how many Comm Crystals are given out, then just change the Augmented Hellhound rewards to be priced appropriately so you might not get it this season if you're a lower rank but can next. Honestly I just want more rewards because as it stands I couldn't care less about the glowing Hellhound weapons and would rather have something akin to old The Feast armors getting a new variant that can be purchased with Comm Crystals as a Coffer for a whole set.

No thanks, I like PVP having rewards. I have only stepped in CC three times so far I think, but I appreciate having to earn rewards to give players the motivation to grind.
