How do you hope 7.45 phantom job acquisition and 7.55 OC gear is handled

Now I know that reception to OC has been lukewarm at best but this is more discussing progressing in the future

Mostly how right now the only “under-utilised” material in OC seems to be sanguinite as it’s the only one you can’t buy job crystals with. But it’s also a material locked behind forked tower. Do you reckon they will add new materials or new CE’s for the new 7.45 phantom jobs or cheap out and make them buyable with an existing material like sanguinite and annoy everyone

Similarly with north horn gear south horn gear is entirely vertical but the last upgrade needs ALOT of sanguinite. How do you think they will handle this going forward? Just ignore +2? Use jewellery? Go harder on mastery stacks?

It's possible they won't even have the gear related. We'll probably start over again with the second zone so they'll leave things as they are now most likely.

They wont handle it they will give more of the same and you'll like it.

Probably silver and gold coins to buy the new jobs? Not that I hope they do this or not, but I wouldn't be surprised for them to just do that because that's how the rest has been done so far.

Probably a few more jobs and a lecel cap increase. I don't expect much to change.

I'll start with what I expect:

Armor and accessories: North Horn will introduce new armor that will be useful ilvl for some, and glam for everyone else. It will be purchasable via platinum and mythril coins. It will not have the Special Attribute. At best, there might be a new accessory that's a rare drop from a CE.

Phantom Jobs: Platinum, mythril, and drops from CEs.

Currency and materials acquired in one zone (South or North Horn) will not be useful in the other zone.

Forked Tower: Magic(?) will drop something that can be used to imbue the otherwise final stage of the relic weapon with the Special Attribute.

(Yes, that is a combination of familiar elements from Eureka and Bozja/Zadnor… :p)

As for what I hope for:

A return to the weakly social/collective element of Eureka, where there was some intentionality and loose organization around spawning NMs CEs.

Phantom Freelancer becomes useful in combat (FT:M).

I can’t say that won’t happen tbh but it would be a bit boring

I've already written off the possibility of upgrading my gear past +1. Even getting it to +1 is a stretch, since gold farming is one of the least fun activities in the entire game. Quite frankly I don't care what they do for the gear.

I think there’s enough precedent that we could get two unrelated sets out of it… the past field ops had multiple sets, although they handled them a bit differently. Eureka was first used to upgrade the level 70 AF gear into dyeable form, and introduced the Elemental zone gear with special stats later on. In ShB, we had Memoria to upgrade AF gear with, but we still had Bozjan, Blade and Law’s Order gear from the Southern Front. So I could see us getting a new set for North Horn that doesn’t require having +2 Arcanaut to get, possibly using a different currency unique to North Horn but maybe not, since the currency is kept in the UI and not in inventory. Guess we’ll see…

What I hope is that, failing both versions of the Tower getting a Normal mode (nope still not over that!), that either Sanguinite is made more plentiful through other means, or an entirely new currency (maybe platinum this time) comes from something in North Horn that is Normal difficulty and repeatable in-zone without the need for external scheduling!

It’s hard to draw a direct comparison as this time we already have in instance BIS

eureka dyed AF gear in anemos didn’t affect your power in the instance, only elemental gear did, Bozjan haste gear from CLL affected your in instance power but it also didn’t have other gear that was introduced in Zadnor because it introduced valors

OC meanwhile already has both, it had in instance BIS and it has valors, so if north horn +0 gear is weaker than south horn +2 gear then south horn gear will continue to be used, but they can’t just add valors for compensate for no new gear because they already have valors with mastery stacks

I'm not a terribly creative person when it comes to designing systems, and I suspect SE is spending their creative energies on the setting, Phantom Jobs (the actions), and FT:M. I also have trouble imagining that SE would want to dump any more power into a gear set, especially with N more rays mastery stacks coming.

Unless… the new thing is to start imbuing gear with defensive boosts. And if you do it in such a way that it can be applied to both the Arcanault's +1 and +2 gear, and without losing them when upgrading a piece from +1 to +2, then you don't have to worry about Sanguinite/X-Fixatives and potentially cannibalizing the main reason to run FT:B repeatedly.

To be fair the current gear set is only 14.5% damage, the mastery stacks are the majority of the current power

But imbuing defence would be good, because as soon as you remove incentives go get +2 then the last incentive to run FTB collapses which I believe they would want to avoid

I hope they add Mime in the next batch as a job that allows you to borrow actions and traits from max-leveled jobs.

Should've been Freelancer as it's what the job is about in the original.

I'd love to just take the crit buff from ranger, super sprint from THF and raise from chemist and just do my black mage things while also able to contribute to raising if needed, or some other less serious combinations- even if not as effectively as if I were running the full phantom job.

I just hope it's not another rng grind and I hope the scaling is better so it doesn't steal your first purchase away from you. Yes, a riding map is ideal, but it should never be mandatory. That's just bad game design. So much of what could've been fun in OC was ruined by needless tedium.
