Staff cut

So I heard that Square had cut some of YoshiP’s staff to save money. Don't know if this true or not, but is there any leads that is true or not?

A quick google indicates that this is hearsay rather than something that's actually true. CBU3 is carrying Square Enix, so it doesn't make sense. If CBU3 were cutting staff, every gaming journalism site on the planet would be writing about it and FFXIV content creators would have had videos up about it with citations.

I'm saying it's not happening. Your friend likely just misunderstood the Yoshi P quote about having difficulty with new hires, due to Japanese people being inexperienced and the language barrier making it hard for them to bring in help from Western applicants.

If staff were being cut, it would have been reported by gaming journalists the world over, especially Jason Schreier. He generally tends to be all over big staff cuts and layoffs in the games industry when they're happening.

I see, guess he might have heard form a source that isn't reliable. Then again, this is the internet we're talking about. Lot of information has been throwing around it's hard to know which is speaking the truth or not.

So even though nobody can find a source for your FC members claim and said member hasn't provided a source either apart from "trust me bro", we should be vigilant about some hypothetical situation that, even if it were true, we can't do anything about?

I've heard of no such thing. Regardless, SE is hiring right now, even for FF14 roles.

There is a common thing that goes around amongst players where they claim that Yoshi-P should hire more people, but the reality is they are hiring right now and have had FF14 jobs going for years. They've been hiring battle designers especially for years and it seems obvious this was due to the planned battle content increase in Dawntrail. They have also hired graphics engineers a lot since the Graphics Update was announced - to the point that this job is almost always available to apply for.

They've actually hired scenario writers and designers a lot too, but there's virtually no chance that is for the MSQ and that they'd be putting them on sidequests for a really long time.

OP, if you did any kind of easy searching, Creative Studio III isn’t cutting staff, they’re hiring. Someone’s FC buddy might be mixing up wishful thinking with actual news.

Sounds like misunderstanding on your friends part about Yoshi's mention of difficulty with new hires. He was bemoaning that new staff doesn't necessarily mean instantly better production from the team at large. New staff have to be trained to learn the code they're gonna be working with. Among other nuances I won't be bothered to bullet point.

Nobodys been fired recently from XIV. Some bad actors on the english side of things are more likely to be on the chopping block and as previously mentioned..... There'd be big news about it if it happened.
