What happened to the Garlean flagship in Heaven's Ward

Do we know what happened to the airship that the Garleans flew up to Azys La, after Ysale wrecked it as Shiva, at the cost of her life? I don't remember it ever turning up again. Does that mean it crashed and only Varis and parts of the crew escaped on the smaller transport ships?

The ship is still there. It wasn't sunk, it still made it to Azys Lla. You can visit the ship yourself right now.


Edit: Also, Varis wasn't there, that was Regula.

I mean technically it is "sunk", that engine wont be working anymore. But yes the ship is still there, it's just functionally useless.

So it's essentially beached, useful as a fortified base, but effectively out as a vessel.

It's a major part of the Warring Triad questline, can't miss it over there.

Shiva's attack on the Gration froze it's ceruleum engines, leaving it in (evidently) permanent "drydock" (so to speak) in Azys Lla.

Due to the nebulous way that time works in this game, I don't think we can say for certain what has happened to them since Heavensward. It's like a snapshot of their situation at that point, and same for the ARR castrum guards.

There is one very weird piece of, like... psuedo-evidence? The Sapphire Weapon has Regula's synthetic auracite, which I at least take to mean they recovered his body after he died.

The soldiers with him said they were going to send his body home for a proper burial in the concluding chapter of the questline. Not sure if it was before or after the Zurvan fight.

I might be misremembering, but I believe that the Garlean commander's armor was also designed to record their data during use, presumably transmitting it back to Garlemald, which is then used to create the artificial auracite anyway, so the body might not have been required. This is why we end up throwing hands with a Gaius copy despite him being alive and going missing.

It's not transmitted anywhere. There's even a note that Gaius' data after he started his invasion of Eorzea was lost upon his defeat in the Praetorium, so all his data that was actually used was from before the Seventh Umbral Calamity. It's likely the same case with Regula.

Incidentally the Gration was not the only Agrius-class dreadnought the Garleans had - an unnamed Agrius-like airship shows up at the end of Stormblood's patch scenario in the sky of the background of the Ghimlyt Dark(and which is also later seen crashed and destroyed as well early in the Shadowbringers opening movie).

Artwork for the fall of Dalmasca in the Ivalice raids also show several of them laying waste to Rabanastre. So it's clear the Empire had numerous of these warships, it's just for whatever reason they never really deployed them that much (although after what happened to the Agrius, then the Gration and finally the one in Ghimlyt. I wouldn't be surprised if they were just glass cannons meant to look impressive but were just too valuable to risk being destroyed).
