Chaotic is one boss battle. It should be a full on higher difficulty of the entire WoD raid.
Chaotic CoD was only a single boss fight and it was a disaster. Imagine an entire *raid* of that.

chaotic is an entire new raid with different mechanics.
it would be alot easier to turn existing AR's into extreme versions as extra content than making more chaotics (not that i want them to stop making them)

That's what I was hoping Chaotic would have been when it was first announced. Basically Unreal for Alliance Raids.

^This is. Alliance raids with all their trash and mechanics in tact tuned up for level cap. This is what people thought CAR was going to be and were excited for. CAR is basically Cloud of Darkness Ultimate - a re-envisioned fight, no trash, none of the other 3 bosses, I don't even think it has Cloud of Darkness' old mechanics (maybe it does, maybe it doesn't). It doesn't even deserve to be called Chaotic Alliance Raid when the only thing it shares with normal ARs is the fact its a 24-man. It should be renamed to 24-man Trial.
Unreal Trial treatment for old alliance raids is all I wanted out of Chaotic and instead they old Ozma to make a big extreme, which I'm sure was fun for someone but is not at all what I'm looking for in this game
Yeah because it wasn't what anyone asked for. Same with V/C. And like V/C found its player base CAR will find its. Its admittedly going to be a small one, but its going to be there. Chances are though, much like V/C didn't change into something that the people it was supposed to be for will like CAR isn't going to magically introduce a new "raid" that's closer to a lv100 Dunscaith. So yeah, you're going to get people asking for what they want to see.
sorry the best they can do is overshoot their intended difficulty and make it savage level. again.
i dont think chaotic is too far away from what the community wanted. the difficulty is good... but it has too much savage style mixed in.
like, if phase 1 is one boss and phase 2 (without that tower body check while the entire alliance is split 7nto multiple groups) as the second boss... and then like 3 more bosses it would already look entirely different
a tower mechanic where you need 20 people but at a time the alliance isnt scattered over several platforms eould be fully acceptible
i mean cid has a 18 player tower mechanic
I honestly don't think that standard fights for 24+ players can work well in high end difficulties, because of the logistic nightmare that is to set up a party and expect everyone to be at the top of their game.
I'd be happy to have more high end duties for full parties in odd patches. Currently the only things going on are the Trial, Unreal and Ultim... oops. Well, even Ultimates are not exactly everyone's cup of tea.
What if they made Unreal versions of the alliance raids? Like basically min ilvl with some DPS checks / enrage modes in some spots? And the gear would obviously need to be decent enough to make it worth it.
players should be able to help each other out if another person cant make it.
i know thats somehow against their mechanic style in more difficult content. but thats something very important for mixed groups. yeah weaker players would be carried but thats alright.
im tired of savage because it mainly consists of these high presicion body checks where noone is allowed to mess up
Lets not stretch a already lagging behind dev team to do more content that's not needed in the game, please. Let them focus on things the game really needs

So more or less what people were asking for for years and to what the clueless, disconnected dev team's response was chaotic? Good luck with them actually listening for once.
Chaotic was fun at the start. I actually had more clears when Chaotic was released than now. Even with everyone having much better gear and item level, they are still struggling to clear this or fail at enrage. Actually people now fail even harder on enrage than it was back then with minimum item level. It's crazy I know. Now It's completely dead and when you find one, it's either;
- Hard to fill, so people leave. Waiting is around 1-2 hours
- After one wipe, its raid over
- People keep failing on simple mechanics for 1000th time even though they have a clear status. That is one incredible bit.
So it was a failure in my opinion. Specially since the mount you want requires 99 materia I which is hard to obtain and Materia II is also hard to obtain. It was "easy" back then as it would reward you more with new players in. But people liked to gatekeep this and kick half of raid who wasn't eligible,etc. Was painful to clear with new people.
Would Baldesion, Delebrum Savage and Forked Tower fit into these?
Or are we speciffically saying "I want old content that's been retooled to be harder?"
I think there is a market for extreme alliance raids, given that's what most people (myself included) seemed to understand chaotic was supposed to be until they revealed it was just cloud and there was a fair amount of interest from what I remember.
In terms of audience retention Chaotic suffers the same issue as everything else in this game, there's no replayability beyond getting mounts, you do your 99 clears and you're done so you move on and the content dies. There needs to be something you can do the demimateria or whatever after you have your mounts and your gear if this content is going to survive the next patch.
Almost, IMO. I think if they were retuned to remove or change the mechanics that require field op actions and the puzzles between each boss (while still keeping roughly the same amount of danger from the trash mobs), they'd definitely fit the criteria of "extreme alliance raid". Well, BA and DRS would at least, I haven't done FT yet...
Honestly, when Chaotic was announced, I was expecting something similar in structure to the field op dungeons, but alas... and I'm saying this as someone who really enjoys Chaotic and still runs it every so often.
Yeah I basically gave up on Chaotic. I enjoyed the fight quite a bit and clearing it was fun. But farming it was a miserable experience because it took forever to get people and 1-2 people could wipe the raid. It was content that was guaranteed to die extremely fast even if it was actually a fun fight. I don't think body checks were the play when there's that many people. Our raiding community isn't really big enough to make that kind of content design sustainable. Once the really dedicated people finished their clears and moved on, it basically became impossible to get more clears in. You can still farm normal EX trials a year after they've been relevant because you can still easily stumble to the finish line regardless of player skill level, the same couldn't be said for chaotic.
On paper I was really in favor of a harder large scale raid because I enjoyed BA+DRS. But I only had to clear those 2 once to get the mount so I didn't have to suffer waiting around for an eternity for a party for multiple clears.
