yes! me too. great request
IIRC, it's because all gear is modeled to have your character wearing shoes, and if they removed it would look wrong. Also, this is why long boots and heels don't change your height at all, since they just reduce your shins' length to make up for the difference.
This isn't an argument anymore since they added the Moonfire Sandals years ago. When we can have flat sandals then we also can have bare feet.
I'd be happy with dyeable Lady's Clogs. The dudes have a set of flip flops they can dye but not females. Which is weird.
It's so ironic how bare feet would look wrong the way the models are designed but high heels that subtract from your leg's total height do not? Your characters suddenly don't get taller with any of the high shoes, let it be heels or tall soles.
Also, a quick google search can show bare feet working just fine in forbidden mods... Regardless of production costs, why it wouldn't work if it was engineered by the devs themselves?
I'm really surprised that the upgraded player models didn't include bare feet.
In the "I really doubt it but on the off-chance category" they did say there would be continual graphic improvements to the game. So maybe these details can come out when/if they revamp the character creator as well as detaching nails from shoes and gloves and allowing us to dye them.
Don't know why they can't let us have bare feet. When downloaded Stormblood expansion had a bug during it and delete the bare foot sandals. All did was show my character floating not far off the floor. Never did download the game again to fix the bug.
We all have barbie feet.
Only Sphene is allowed to have them in cutscenes.
Jokes aside, I think its because they did a bad job at building the engine or models or something something failure.
And for fixing it, it took them how many years to get hats on Viera and Hrot STARTED? You can expect bare feet to be on the lowest rung of the prio list for them
I support this notion, as well as feet glams that allow this or similar vibes, such as with the Moonfire set.
Let bare feet be a level 1 glam item. I know I'd ditch the sandals for swimsuit and pajama glams. I've never been a fan of games with default sandals when you don't have equipment on your feet.
The Oracle of the Light is bare Feet and that Cutscene is years old. Wonder why SE is so lazy and so slow with changes.
Only Sphene can show off her bare spheet
Have Miyazaki do a collaboration and one of the rewards be a bare feet glam.
To answer the OP, verruca plantaris?
Please, I hope they do it! we can have painted nails now in varios lenghts! I want to enter the shower or the public baths or swimming in the sea with bare feet, it looks SO weird to bathe with sandals
Why exactly do you just want to have bare feet? I'm honestly curious.
In my case it's cause lying on / in bed and going into the ocean with shoes is dumb and looks bad on gposes.
....Ofc that's one thing people coding "dark magic" have already implemented for years now.
Same as with the Viera and Hroth hats that SE refused to adress for half a decade.
There are methods, techniques, ways...
..but not for a Jedi.
That would probably be the easiest way to do it… make a level 1 glam piece called Painted Toenails or something. Default color for toenails ideally would match character skin tone, and dye could change the toenails to whatever color you want. Essentially they’d be making a shoe slot item that looks like our feet, which they already have rendered from most of the sandals.
The default sandals don't look great and in some cases are out of place completely. They also aren't dyeable. It's one of many small issues that comes out when working on glam, like having socks or leggings integrated into leg gear while your shoes have exposed skin, creating this weird look like you've cut your socks in half for no reason.
Tater finks this might be because of the time he wiggled his toes in the air in the guild house at dinnertime and put everyone off the pizza.
But it's nice to give my twelve little toes some air now and again.
So please, please free the Tater Twelve.
Wait you only have how many? Ewwwww!
I take my socks off as soon as I walk in the door, this is a great idea!
FREE THE FEET!!
We're in summer and I typically don't wear shoes at the beach. I'd like the option and going barefoot is something my character would do in certain situations. Also since there is footwear that gives you toenails why not? I'm curious why you find it so odd to want it.
Yes, let us be bare foot so when I go to the beach beside Minaa's home in Shiro, she can enjoy the feel of the sand under her foot when she is wearing her swimsuit. I do know people like Feet Prince and Feet Collector in Exodus would be thrilled to have this too lol.
Just another thing people have fixed through "dubious means" that will likely never be addressed by SE.
Well okay, they finally gave Viera and Hrothgar more hats to wear, but there's still a long list of issues that people have fixed on their own.
tbf those fixes have people floating above the ground though or clip into the ground, and you have to add other fixes on top of that prevent through "dubious means". the person showing how it was done with the sandals on the first page is somewhat right but the person that replied is also they just more foot on heel and bottom foot..
Y'shtola, Minfillia, Nanamo and now Sphene all have bare feet models, for the first three it's been that way since HW and with the graphical update making feet look less like flesh cubes it's the perfect time to add this.
I cannot imagine it would be hard at all to make a functional barefoot option, so please do it!
It's unhygienic.
This is the exact same kind of devsplaining that "Why do you want to enter houses? People don't do that in real life, are you a thief?" when talking about SE doing decoration houses with no enterable spaces for immersion LIKE EVERY OTHER RPG AND MMO UNDER THE SUN.
Why? Because it makes sense, and its a part of the immersion. Wooden clogs in the bed, in the bath, while swimming? Its a technical limitation they have not fixed nor wanted to fix forever. Much like the enterable houses is them being lazy and not wanting to design the insides of houses or inn's (Urqopacha comes to mind, you have a damned courtyard and a reception desk but no inn rooms? Shaloaani has towns with like... the jail and saloon open?)
bare feet would be a nice thing for some glams. i'm all for it

Why exactly do you just want to dress up your childlike character in a miniskirt and tanga? I'm honestly curious
Assumptions are a funny thing, aren't they?
