So there are quite a few amount of buffs that I was not expecting, given that there was no ultimate this patch. Guess they want more peeps to clear cruiserweight savage.

where my nastrond stacks at
Note: the new trial can also be done with NPCs. This is not a common thing they do with trials, so just pointing it out.
Copy and paste detected. That's clearly an increase.Quote:
Hammer Brush: Potency has been reduced from 500 to 560.
Potency increase from the trait Pictomancy Mastery IV has been changed from 560 to 580.
Surely the only person that uses the Duty Recorder is the Square Enix QA team. I don't understand why they still bother.Quote:
An issue when using the Duty Recorder wherein playing back a recorded duty with the name display type set to something other than full name resulted in job names appearing as initials when portraits were shown.
You know what's funny?
They buffed Auto Crossbow.
Then, they buffed Double Check and Checkmate!
Seriously...do they not understand how trash Auto Crossbow is? Because even in AoE situations it doesn't matter. Even in Savage Auto Crossbow isn't a gain - it's a loss. They need someone to seriously take a good look at the job and understand how it plays, because it's quite obvious now that none of them playtest MCH and say "hey, this button is pretty useless because of this rotation. Let's give Auto Crossbow the same treatment as the Single Target during Hypercharge". It's that simple a fix and still they botch it.
boring changes, though its getting to the latter half of the expansion where changes wont happen
At least they didn't ruin any jobs this time so congrats on that i guess.
Yet that fight is target prioritization...
Yes, AoE is part of it, but I feel like most people are getting Yan'd one way or another because the Tank gets slapped, or the Mus don't die in time due to rotational issues. It's still basically "spam your AoE" during Adds Phase as is so part of it could also be mechanical failure on others' part since there are puddles to drop.
AoE heal range changes are interesting.
Outside of the immediate future, the healer aoe changes were certainly because of m8s in p1 and p2. The add phase in p1 where you could not hit the other side with your standard aoes heals and then in p2 with the platforms. Also some parts in m7s mainly with the deatmatch parts.
At long last Pictomancer has been gutted. The most overpowered class in FF14 history is finally normal after a year and a half reign of terror that completely eliminated the viability of any other casters whatsoever
Wow. They actually remembered that phys ranged exists in their notes this time.
Phys ranged still needs to fundamentally change as a role. The PVP versions of phys ranged jobs are better taken care of than the PVE versions by a long shot.
90% of the patch notes are because of M6S lol
Well they do explain the changes now.
They said AoE was increased for DPS, Ranged Phsyical Damage was increased because their damage was too low, RDM/SMN damage was increased because they lowered it due to them being rez jobs but they realized that's uselesss once they are clear-ready, they changed Pictomancer purely to make Hammer Time a DPS gain, and they buffed healer DPS by 5 potency to bring them up to AST's party buff damage.
Yikes Pico nerf, boo! BLM had years for #1 let caster. Let Picto have another 3 expansions of #1 caster to make it fair.
The caster who, well, casts the most should be rewarded for their skill in maintaining uptime and rotation despite their massive movement nerf. Black mage should always be the strongest by merit of being remarkably harder to play at a high level of performance. Picto has like 2 casts. Summoner has 1 essentially. Rdm does channel more than those but most of its burst is in the melee x instacast meter burner combo. It also has a rez and a heal.
Boy, I sure wish people would stop mistaking dealing with inconveniences for difficulty. BLM is not hard to play, the fact that we got to move a lot it's what adds trouble solving to it and that's not difficulty.
Learning a fight to know when you move or use slide casting it's not difficulty either.
They at least didn't try to fix the issue of tanks having too many heals by giving tanks more heals...
And Healers got a buff, but the devs forgot AST and forgot a 0.
I can't with this dev team, lmao. Acting all surprised like that after 3.5 years of double enshrouds, smoothing out even more wrinkles because fuck Yoshi-P saying classes have become too simple and too frictionless. I can only shake my head.Quote:
We are aware that reaper's rotation commonly includes two executions of Enshroud during burst damage phases, one slightly before the phase begins, which is then supplemented by two executions of Shadow of Death. However, this introduces complicated timing between the effect duration of Death's Design and the recast time of Enshroud, so we have shortened the latter with hopes of simplifying the situation.
I like the healing range changes
I hate the healing range changes
What’s the advantage of having a “totem healer” and a “delayed activation healer” when every healer can hit the next instance over with every action
I think somewhere along the line 14 forgot that “flavour” is more than just meaningless visual difference
The healing range also kinda devalues WHM further for no reason. The 3 others already have the cheaper options but for some reason WHM still pays heaviest price of not being able to weave & pays more MP…? Not that they matter with state of job design nowadays, but this really reeks “spend as little time as possible on jobs while we try to—oopsie daisy, forgot this one little detail tehee~”
It's baffling that they still had to nerf Viper's AoE, considering that most DPS jobs were buffed (some even got more buffs in 7.25). It really says a lot about how unbalanced things were up until this patch. They should have never introduced high-end AoE content without first attempting to balance it properly.
I also doubt that so many jobs were truly undertuned in AoE. It feels more like BLM and DNC were overtuned, and SE just chose not to nerf them. Now M6S likely melts with week 1 gear.
I guess all we can do now is pray that 7.4 launches in a decent state, considering the game once again seems to be taking the hardest possible path towards balance.
