Why can't you finish seasonal quests you've already started?

Like it says in the title. I understand seasonal quests being time limited, but the NPCs shouldn't just disappear and leave it unable to be completed. I can go back and do seasonals from the past that I've completed in new game plus so I doubt this is a spaghetti code thing..... so why?

Because its what you already said its a LIMITED event, so if you really not be able to finish the quest when most of the LIMITED SEASONAL Events are up 2 Weeks then its really your own fault

The NPCS and the Deco are Assets which are activated when the Event starts, is the Event gone, the Deco and Assets are gone too, its not about a Spaghetti Code or anything but why should they let 1000 NPCs stand there all the time?

True ! After all SE is a pretty small indie company, they dont have to money to offer phasing just so people can finish their quests ! And why would they ? They got people like you to defend them!

they phase so many other quests... why is it hard to believe they could phase this? i honestly don't see why allowing people to complete a quest after they accept it even if the event is over is a bad idea. people have lives, they're busy. to you, 2 weeks might be a long time, but to others, it might not be enough time. if anything, allowing them to complete it a week or so after the event is over is better than not at all :x

all games are like that tho if you don't finish it well delete it because it will not come back. it isn't only a SE thing

These quests 99% of the time take 5 minutes to complete as well...
If that is a lot of time for you in 2 weeks maybe mmo's just aren't for you. Like sorry, but not sorry

God forbid people are not at home for an event while still paying their subscription, some people might be in hospital helping a loved one, or travelling abroad temporarily, or any other reason.

But in typical FFXIV community fashion, people come at the defense of SE instead of simply understanding that most other game companies use phasing for cases exactly like this, and it uses basically no resources as it's only triggered when needed.

Keep encouraging SE's shortcomings though, go you.

Yea i defend it because im fine with the state of it you know why? because i do everything in the game from ultimates to savage even casual triple triad, im not such a crybaby which does only 5% of the content and then cries "there is nothing to do"


sorry to tell ya but every mmo is the same in that case, limited event gone - cant finish it, done your own fault

because the seasonal event is over

They do give you the dates that the event runs over....

I figure, that when it expires, the quest can no longer be turned in.

You could say the same about many IRL time-limited offers, but you aren't going to get them when you jump up and down because you're late.

Yeah it's a pretty known fact that IRL you have a phasing system that would literally fix that very same issue in game. It totally happens IRL too.

If you didn't finish the quest in time. That's a you problem, not SE's.
Why should they add more effort and resources to keep a limited time event active longer? Specially when they constantly remind you when the event ends every time you log in.
Limited time events are exactly that, only available for a limited time.

yeah this company is really known for any effort at all and putting resources towards the game

at least make it believable if you're going to use that defense, barely any money is being put towards the game, we havent had viera hats in 5 years, same for hrothgars, stop trolling.

I started in agreement, then I realised
given watching the irreverence much of the player base has for anything that doesn't accelerate their savage progress, you would have lots of people just picking up the first quest and then disappearing, hollowing out the community aspect.
Then you'd have people picking up the first quest abandoning it, so it doesn't go into their log and complaining to support.
Then if they did allow evens to be finished whenever they'd have to be more careful about designing every event to be soloable, and complaints of they don't. (Many have involved Fates of one sort or another)

I get OP, but it actually seems quite unworkable really.
No therr has to be some incentive for lots of peole to be in certain places all at the same time.

In fact I think game+ style only be available during the event in question.

However, seperate matter, but events should never be recycled, but rather every event should be new +2 or more old ones.

(There is no need to assing blame and say people are 'at fault' for not finishing content though.)

Every MMO has limited seasonal events that last 2 weeks. Them being available only for those 2 weeks is not necessarily an issue as that's the standard.
What is not standard and I wish SE would improve on based on other MMOs is to allow receiving the previous rewards aswell during said seasonal event (like Runescape giving you rewards from previous years, or WoW seasonal event shop just adding the new item for the same currency you get every year). I doubt SE would ever fix this since they just add old rewards straight to the online store for real money, so removing that would mean losing a source of revenue :(

If you have time to pick up the quest, you have time to do it normally (it takes like... All of 5 mins, sometimes not even that). If you couldn't get on at all during the period.... Yeah that sucks, I get it. I think they should allow past events to be viewed and possibly get the old rewards that way instead of the shop, but I know that wouldn't happen.

It's becoming clear that the best events are behind us. It's a shame that content will probably never be played again. It would be nice if we could replay old ones, but it would be difficult when they involve F.A.T.Es and group content.

There's quite a number of little things that they've never brought back or maybe brought back once and then never again.
- The 2 or 3 Theathrhythm-style songs you get to play during Starlight Fest
- The Couple's Maze during V-Day (which seems to be behind the Sanctum of the Twelve)
- little fortunes you could have read if you're in a party with someone during V-Day
- Two Halloween dungeons (one in Haukke Manor and one in Tam-Tara. The Haukke Manor one kinda exists every year still, but not as a dungeon)
- full on special areas

I really liked the last area for Starlight and I have a fear that we may not see it again.

Seasonal Events are not available in New Game +. Occasionally when they've brought back events like the XV collaboration they let players that already did it replay them but even then it was only available while the event was running.

Because it's a limited event.

There's always going to be someone whose dog was kidnapped by a gang of cats while they were climbing Mount Everest to find their grandfather's ghost or whatever, and thus they couldn't finish the event in time, no matter how long you extend it the period (even though most of them just procrastinated). In the end, everything is ephemeral - which, by the way, is literally the overarching theme of the game. Stop trying to dig your claws into every little thing.

If I remember correctly, the Sneaky Hollow special area from the Saints' Wake event has been available every year (since its addition in 2022). It's an area that's similar to the Starlight Stalls, so I'd say chances are pretty high for it to be a permanent addition to the event.

You can not finish a seasonal quest that you have started after the seasonal event has ended because after the season passes, both the seasonal event and the season itself have ended.

Almost like OP was asking for a way to finish the quest after the event has passed, aka phasing like in any other game.

I hope so! They have been pretty decent with keeping both of the Halloween areas there.

The quests quite literally takes 2-5 minutes to complete.
And no, you're not entitled to rewards.
