Why make Priority weapons when the system already does a lot?

Seriously when doing skirmish and other things, how come people always wanna do priority based things? when the system already lots who gets what? its like you win so than the system does a lot, highest person win he gets the weapon. Ok now he got the weapon, now everyone lot again. A different person gets the highest lot now you pass the weapon to him? Plus there are way to many ppl out there that ninja stuff. I had to go through 28 skirmish's to finally get my WHM cane to drop and this is all we do is priority because thats what everyone does. Out of the first 27 skirmishes i got about 16 of those drops somehow but i politely passed to the ppl that called the weapon, i could of easily used the weapon on my other job, but i didnt call it the other guy did so i passed it to him. Than on the 28th run my cane finally droped and i was the only one that wanted it, but the BLM got it so i asked him to kindly pass it and he switches to his WHM and goes "But I have a WHM to I can use it" takes it and jsut warps out. So kind of a rant thread but still the point stands. Why do ppl wana risk stupid ninja idiots and losing your loot on priority when the system already lots and randomizes it for us?

It was your choice to keep your drops or hand them out like Santa. Nobody is setting these rules and if they don't like you keeping your loot, then you can find another group. The content is easy enough to do it with a pick-up party, and it has massive playability since people want to multi-meld and can only get one at a time, so there will always be people doing Skirmish.

It's why I despise pugs for this type of content. Just don't do pugs....or at least pugs that set arbitrary rules such as this.

Pugs? Unless you mean Pugilist, or that fish mob from FFXI, I don't understand what you mean by that.

Loot system is definitely rigged. It tends to drop to the same person more often than it should, your own words kind of prove that. However, the loot system in general is stupid.

I dont like being a douche though. I know that my fault im sorry. I guess having this happens builds up my black list though so i dont have to deal with creeps like this anymore. I know ppl like you wont understand this but they way you play a video game really shows how you act in real life. if your a giant dick like this in a game chances are your a giant dick in real life and wont have any friends. so good luck with that.

PUG = Pick Up Group
PGL = Pugilist (It's not abbreviated as PUG thats just what ppl use cause they can remember it easier.)

What does priority here means? certain person gets before others or you pick which weapon you wants before a run?

Before you do the run everyone in the party says what weapon they want so if that weapon drops it doesn't matter who it drops to they pass it to the person that called that weapon.

To be honest, it isn't dickery at all. You are subjecting the already-established looting and are questioning why people loot on it again after that.

The way my LS does it, or any pick-up group for that matter, is that before we go in, we decide on who gets what drop. if 3 people want an axe, and the axe drops, then those 3 people roll for it. Whoever wins gets the axe, rinse and repeat. That way, everyone only picks one item and if that item drops, its easier and more efficient for them to get what they want instead of some douchebag claiming all items. You don't need to hand them out like Santa Claus, but for god sakes, don't complain here if your item dropped and you decided to give it away to someone else. You should have kept it for yourself and then if the item dropped again, someone else would get it.

Oh okay, I do remember PUG used to be the abbrev for Pugilist. That's what got me confused. Anyways, even when in a PUG, those rules should still apply to any party leader that has common sense.

Don't join parties when you can't agree to what they want to do.

Frankly, if a weapon drops to me that I need, I'm not usually going to surrender it. I'm perfectly content to let the system handle it and keep it objectively random.

um, maybe i didnt explain it good the first time? For the sake of time lets just say me (the WHM) and the BLM did skirmish we went in I said i wanted The Cane, the BLM said he wanted the Axe. The cane droped to the BLM so what your saying is the way your LS does it that means that he woulda passed the Cane to me. But he just warped out. So either you just mis understood me before or no thats not a dick move at all.

I agree if I would of joined and no one wanted to set priorities, I would of still needed the WHM cane but the BLM would of gotten it and he would of kept it and i wouldnt be mad at all cause its his.

The reason im kinda mad is because we didnt do that our leader wanted to do that stupid priority rule so i was just like ok ill call it that i want the cane, he wanted the axe. So I shoulda got it cause i called it. If i didnt call it i woulda been perfectly ok cause thats just the way the system woulda distributed it out

That is the way most pick up group does things because while the system does the randomized system itself, it doesn't know what jobs you want to gear up. Does the system knows you want WHM cane? i dont think so.

If there is no clear loot rules, you might not even get WHM cane at all because someone else that doesnt even want them might keep getting'em and decide to just sell it after.

I'm talking about if you had the Cane yourself and if you were to keep that cane, then it wouldn't be a dick move. lol

As far as Mr. Jerkface BLM goes, yeah he's a dick and deserves to be on your blacklist. Make it known to your LS and FFXIV fansites who he is and what he has done to you. Its the best way to red flag people for content and make it well-known for their douchebaggery.

Dude...don't. trust. pick up groups. Random ppl are famous for basically not playing by whatever rules the party establishes. The more guild members you run with, the higher chance you have of the item you want going to someone that will pass it to you.

How about, because it really is more fair that the person who needs the weapon the most, gets it. Why should someone who already has or doesn't need the weapon, get it just because it dropped on him, when someone who does need it also helped in the fight?

but i do need it.

I cant really speak for every server... but most of the weapons on mine are worth about the same, so any weapon... is equal to any other weapon, most groups dont set anything, if it drops to you, its yours. You simply sell the weapons you dont want, and buy the ones you want, theres no risk... you get any weapon no matter what drops.

Because people like to help each other. It's an agreement that if someone gets a weapon you want, they agree to give you that weapon as long as you agree to do the same for them. It raises the chances of you getting the weapon you want, as long as everyone in the party agrees.

I understand that, what I am asking is why do ppl wanna do this when less than like half of FFXIV players are trustworthy.

So you did 27 runs where people were trustworthy and 1 where they weren't?

yes you did. And that is the only thing I have ever done in FFXIV ever was those 28 runs on skirmish. Ninja'ng happens constantly im just curious why ppl put up with it and dont just let ppl take what weapon drops to you. sure you might not get the weapon you want that way but if a weapon drops to you atleast you will get a weapon its alot more fair, and whats the percentage of a weapon droping on you as opposed to the weapon you want dropping on you? The point im trying to make is it will be alot safer to just let the system do it and take what the system gives you. If you are with LS mates and ppl you can actually trust than sure do priority but PUG's should start doing the "if the system drops a weapon to you its yours idgaf if you can use it or not its yours." That way atleast you will get a weapon.

Skirmish is a relatively new thing, where as pug groups have been happening for months, mainly dungeon groups. Take AV/CC for example, drops are very rare so its simply easier to decide priority on items before you enter. It would be annoying if you do dungeons for weeks and finally get your item to drop but it gets auto distributed to a mage who can't use it. The chance of getting darklight is super rare as it is, expecting the item u need to directly drop to u in order to get it just adds to the headache so it was easier for pug groups to set priority first.

Skirmish weapons can be traded but its still a headache to go in there wanting a specific weapon but u got to keep doing it till it drops to u, even when people who can't use it are getting it. On my Server not all weapons sell at the same price and some are hardly ever up for sale so its easier to do priority loot then attempt to get it through auto distribution.

This game has always had a crappy loot system, got to make do with whats there, and the best way is to have loot priority set before hand and use the /random feature when there are multiple ppl after the same thing. Lets hope for a better loot system in 2.0 since the current one is beyond trash.

What we need is a player rating site for all the douches and asses.
Perhaps people will watch what they do then...or not...heh

When something is trad-able is when whoever gets it should keep it.

Whenever I start a group (and I do a lot) I ask, "What weapons are you looking for and what is the weapon you need the most?" Then I write everyone's name down and what weapon they called. Whatever weapons aren't on the list (say, everyone wants every weapon but the staff and bow) then whoever gets it keeps it. Its about setting rules and seeing if people agree to follow them. If not, change it around and ask for suggestions.

If you join a group and need a weapon, don't be afraid to say "I need the -insert weapon type- from this dungeon" and make sure everyone knows. Unless everyone agrees on some rules and guidelines for the runs, your group isn't obligated to agree and follow what you said, but if your opinion is out there you might get it even if someone else gets the drop. (i.e. "Hey, I already have these claws, have my drop since you said you need it")

Also, don't be afraid to suggest a priority rule. If no one wants to then they don't have to but it doesn't hurt to suggest it. Don't just say it like you own the place but suggest it.

You just have to remember that you're not in charge. As a party leader you just make the team and suggest a way of doing things to the group. Mostly, it's about being flexible and open-minded. As a party member you have the right to suggest ideas to the group.

Honestly, I prefer that over the need/greed system because even that can be taken advantage of without the right set guidelines within the group.

I would read the OP's post fully if it wasnt a wall of text.
