Crescent FATEs are overtuned and needing to run to CEs was a galaxybrain choice

I love exploratory content. It is, by far, the thing I enjoy most in this game. I did months of Eureka. I did months of Bozja. I am no newbie to Field Content nor do I dislike it, so I feel like I've got enough experience to say y'all really dropped the ball on some of these options. I'm not even going to touch the insane Atma grind in depth, which so far has been ~7 hours for 6 atmas, none of which have managed to drop from a single FATE vs CE.

What's really grinding my gears though is the amount of time an average FATE is taking to clear vs the absolute insane decision to make people need to run to CEs vs simply joining queue like Bozja. The only reason I even broke down to decide making this thread is because I missed four CEs in a row just because FATEs take so long AND half the community decides to run off if a CE pops up to make it take even LONGER.

I'm not really inclined to think the ideal thing here is just to sit at base and wait for CEs to pop, but that seems to be the only thing worth doing if FATEs take so long, NEVER drop any Atmas anyway, and have a minuscule reward in comparison. Strongly, strongly urging fATEs to be tuned lower and to return CE joining to the same method it was in Bozja. Flabbergasted anyone on staff thought this was an improvement in the name of some kind of "immersion" or who knows what.

CE>Fates. Missing a CE is worst from a time perspective than missing a fate. When there are no CE up. Fates last less than 30s.

I do agree that not being able to queue into a CE like Bozja is very bad and a step backwards.

FATEs taking long? Are you kidding me? If I try to start traveling to one, they're dead by the time I press my forwards key... I have plenty of time to make CEs in contrast.

I personally am a huge fan of removing the tp to CE's. Seeing the huge group of people running over makes me happy. It also helps with collecting random treasure chests along the way.
That being said, I 100% understand why you would dislike the removal of it since a removal of a quality of life change willl always be seen as a negative.

As for the fates, I'm not sure if it's the scaling or if it's just certain ones but I've seen some get instantly deleted while others can take as long as a CE. Normally I've had the time to do 1 or 2 fates between CE's.

Another point about the fates. If it is one of those that takes forever, there's nothing stopping you from running away after starting to go to a CE and still get credit for the fate. It can be seen as a dick move but it is more efficient.

"Imagine having to run in an MMO". Can't imagine, this is why we can't have nice things and they keep dumbing down the game and every zone has like 10 000 aetherytes and no danger in the world. Because goodness gracious someone wants to be done with things in 2 minutes and they cater to that

honestly my main complain is actually fate dying way to fast because now most people minmax so sometime you reach it it's a 10% that's pretty much it. other then that I rather enjoy OC

Totally disagree, I love that they removed the auto teleport to CEs. That always made Bozja feel so automated and empty. Now you see people running to the event location and goofing around while waiting for it to pop, plus there's some decision making in planning where to go and how to get there on time.

Fate scaling is wonky, with low player numbers they take a while and with high numbers they vanish in seconds.

I'm neutral on the subject. The map is small enough and easy to navigate at least. But running can get stale when it serves little purpose and you just want to do the more engaging fights.

It beats standing in the base doing nothing until you can go to the location. But everyone is different as we can clearly see.

Honestly, most FATES and CE are easily readable. you won't get it right from the first time, but you'll manage. But the turtle one. I don't get it at all.

I find running on Bozja and Zadnor to be pain because the aesthetic is so… desolate.

I find running around Eureka to be a good fun, though, for the scenery and for the fun to be had in not getting yourself killed along the way.

It'll be a bit before I can see how Occult Crescent compares.

If you get sick of the zone then go do something else for a while.

The health of FATE bosses seems wildly inconsistent. Sometimes you go in there with a few people and the thing dies in about 5 seconds, other times you got half the zone fighting the same FATE boss and it takes almost 5 minutes to kill it.

I don't mind having to run to CEs. I means you get to see much of the zone more than once. Say what you will about Pagos's layout, but I do find it neat how you had to tip-toe around and drop down cliffs to get to the right cave.

I'm not sure that it makes a difference whether you do FATEs or CEs for the purposes of Atma farming.

Every single Atma I currently have I got from a FATE. I've gotten zero atmas from CEs.

My friend who I've been doing this with since the start has zero atmas currently. We've done every FATE and CE together. Except for when I had to go AFK once, he went to a CE without me. I did a FATE waiting for him. I got an atma from the FATE, he got nothing from the CE.

Sounds odd. From what I’ve seen, the timing between CEs and FATEs is designed for players to be able to easily squeeze in one - two FATEs in between CEs. Been at this around 20 hours and I’ve never had a problem with making it in time to a CE. Usually, the second FATE boss would be around 30% of HP when a CE pops, leaving players well over 1 and half minutes to get to the CE after the FATE.

Still Day 3 tho
You still have around 2 month to grind. Why everyone thinking they gonna finish this in 1 day.

Yeah, FATE scaling could use adjustment.

Small party take forever to finish, while "alliance number" cut it through like a knife through butter

I dont mind running to CE. the map is beautiful, and mon are not dense like Eureka. Given there quite enough teleportation I think OC is fine. Certainly a big improvement over Eureka.

Yeah... fate scaling is very bizarre, some will die almost instantly other take ages and any combination of players around.

FATEs scale based on the amount of players that fought it (or one linked to it) the previous time.

While the game does not tell you which FATEs are linked, precedent is that in Bozja, all the FATEs in a given section were linked, excluding the ones that spawn CEs.

The type of FATE is relevant: Boss FATEs scale enemy HP, while enemy FATEs scale number of enemies (not their HP), which is why there were certain FATEs in Zadnor that melted regardless of the number of players there.

From my experience, fates seem to scale with the number of players in a zone, minus those in an active CE. Kinda like Eureka but without counting those that can't get there.
Seen the Eye Tablet pop back to back. First time with no CE so a lot of player went there and took some time. After that it spawned during a CE and was pulled, after the CE people went there and it melted.

So if a zone has 72 people and 50 are in the turtle CE, then any fate will be scaled to the remaining 22 players when it's pulled.

Can't say that I agree with that, at least when it comes to CE's. Personally, I found the turtle one to be the one that was quickly made sense at a glance (and the most fun to execute) despite failing a couple of times (still do), while things like the Mythic Idol are both unfun and hard to read for me.
Different strokes for different folks and all that.

Blue = Freeze/Anti-pyretic.
Green = Forced forward dash (about 2/3 arena wide), mind the death wall.

Coins? Just pick enough coin to bring them to the one you’re tethered to. You can pick up to 2 bag of coins. (Say, need 6c? Then pick up 4c and 2c BEFORE bringing them to your tethered item)

The kb? Attack name. One penny = kb from one coin; twopenny = kb from two coin; you get the drill.

Did everyone forget about the memory of the dying grind in bozja? That was way worse than this, I finished all of bozja and never completed the first step of that relic grind because of that. At least with OC I'm over half way done. It's not a hard grind, just run CEs don't focus on the relic grind get your gear, additional phantom jobs, riding map, ect and you'll get the atmas it's not like you have to chain pull mobs to get them, you literally get it from the main part of the content.

Do you know a FATE where the boss have a gaze attack, followed by a Gaze with ?. The ? bit I don’t get, gaze at it I got petrified turn away I got hit.

An eye-shaped marker with “?” wants you to LOOK at them. The reverse of basic gaze atk.

That one fate wants you to identify the correct order to look or look away. Think of it like Her Inflorescence from NieR Tower last boss where you need to match black/white wavelengths to avoid damage.

For reference, this is also how the Kefka NRaid works as well (Sigmascape 4.0 / O8N). In fact I think it's basically exactly that mechanic, visually speaking. So if you've ever wondered how that works, now you know.

the drop was better and the second way of farming them was 100% drop so it wasn't to bad I would say atma have a slightly lower chance to spawn in the zone and the fate is around 10% in 3 hours I got none sooo

Correct. I specifically mentioned Her Inflorescence because the way you approach both cases are almost identical: identify the order of look/look away (facing black or white) + dodge other stuffs the boss throwing at you (red girl adds spewing raspberry orbs).

I spent the last 2 days running CEs after work so from 5:30-10:00 and I've already got 7 I'm not sure if everyone is hitting every CE that comes up or if I've just been lucky so far. When it came to bozja I ran that for months without being able to finish the first step of the relic grind.

well they probably never thought it out like always. they most likely just thought: now everyone on the instance can join the CE. therefore players dont have to sign up anymore.

I thought the ? Mean opposite effect, somehow I still got hit. I am guessing something to do the latency because of large group of players and just a coincidence.

This is another issue I am having currently in CE and FATE, but it seem only happening OC. My connection and latency are all fine in alliance raid or open world FATE and even in PVP. In OC I have few instance where I am way outside the aoe circle and still got hit
