Would it kill SE, burn their server or make them go bankrupt to add some wards?

I just don't get why the number of waards for housing don't adapt with the number of player. When on a lotery there is only 1 house like it's the case on Jenova, and that many players are homeless, why don't they simply increase from 30 ->45 the number of wards in each area?

Solutions exists, they wanted to be fair by putting a lotery system, but many players can't get their hands on a house.

Will adding those area make SE go bankrupt and their servers burning?

I know I'm not the first one to suggest simple solution, it just feels like SE doesn't give a shit about homeless players.

It is simply so called "housing crisis" is a fake issue
You have options of sharing feature for Personal (share with other 3 players on your friend list), FC room, and apartment.
There is no "homeless" to begin with; it was just people want their "ideal"

SE has the real number of how many people actually actively accessing housing feature and that number clearly not worth for another release

I think your statement is as false as the so-called “housing crisis.”
The number of FC plots is restricted.
There are far too many personal (PC) ownerships in grandfathered wards, and I’m fairly certain these owners won’t—or can’t—convert them into FC plots, especially when it comes to anything above medium-sized plots.
You might see available FC plots in less populated data centers, but definitely not in the original NA, EU, or JP data centers.

I think it is better if they just MERGE DATA CENTER with NA, EU and OCE. To make OCEANA SERVER ALIVE! We have alot of plots here in OCE mostly MANSIONS in every town. But the server in exchange is UNPLAYABLE

It looks good for their metrics. Players who actively participate in the ward plots usually will show up on the monthly active users and quarterly active users.

I think that is a good thing. For better or for worse. In the long term

The easier it is to acquire a house, the fewer inactive players will keep their subscriptions active to keep them from auto-demolishing.

There are some people here saying they should get rid of that.Because it puts a smile in that face. That's going to be the only benefit they get for capital spent on it. Only for most of the playerbase the lose interest in it within 6 months.

So why invest in a change that's going to settle back to where it already is now? If the players cared about housing like you said they did the words would be a lot more full but they're not. The players choose not to be there. We can make the wards more alive but we choose not to. If players chose to spend as much time in the wards as they do in limsa, they wouldn't be complaining about why are the wards so dead.


If players weren't housing why aren't they engaging with the housing that's available. If they want a yard why are they not engaging with the island sanctuary outdoor housing system. Players don't want these things in a vacuum. Which is why I question the legitimacy of people concerns because of its conditional nature.

If peoples say anything about a housing shortage i'm gonna go look through the apartments and see how many housing units are open and are decorated. I want to see the complaints and measure them against what i'm actually seeing
Unfortunately the reality that I've seen, the complaints don't match the reality of housing "crisis" as it's not that housing is unobtainable, as players won't engage with the housing system because they don't like apartments. But within 6 months most grow bored of it and only login to maintain it.

Given that you can lose a plot if you don't use it, indirectly ties you to your subscription.

If you have a plot that you care about, your subscription can lapse , but you WILL be back if you want to keep it.

You were asking them to allow you to freely come and go at any given point in time without needing to ever come back.

There is no real benefit to doing this. For them. In an additional viewpoint I think that scarcity gives it allure. Those who don't have it, want it. Usually those who get it get bored with it after awhile. And keep their sub to maintain it.

But squares also gonna use that data that counts you in the consensus of monthly active users or even quarterly active users.

If you actually own a plot and maintain your sub for it, you're just helping pad their numbers. Remember your happiness comes second to the profit motive.

And right now, giving attention to other parts of the game that players are dissatisfied with will go a lot farther toward increasing profits than adding more wards would (which should answer the question that started the thread).

I doubt that those subscriptions being paid solely to retain a house and not otherwise play the game add up to a meaningful percentage of FFXIV's overall revenue. Few players are going to be so obsessed with housing in a game that they fall into that trap. Demo exists to try to make unused houses available to players without one, not squeeze money out of players scared of losing a house.

If it was really about the money, there would be no entry into estate requirement. Keeping an active sub would be sufficient. Or they'd be selling premium housing subscriptions on mog station just as we have subscriptions for additional retainers.
