Better/New Rewards in Dungeon-Roulettes for people with maxed out Jobs

So, I've been playing since end of ShB and I still love running dungeons/raids with different jobs, farming XP/Tomes etc.
I even farmed my Mentor mount during EW, because I loved the variety.

But since I maxed out all Jobs, "wasting" XP feels horrible.

Can we have some kind of alternative rewards instead of XP in that case? (And for Khloes Adventurebook while we're at it)

I'm not really picky, I'm fine with one or two of the following examples:

- Bicolored Gems
- increased amount of Gil
- old hunt-tokens
- teleport-vouchers
- additional Khloe "points" for resetting the stickers
- etc.etc.

Or even a new token, exchangeable for exclusive glam, mounts, pets, orchestron rolls.

I'd like my roulettes to be "worth" it.

I think this would incentivize players a lot more.

PSO2 did this, there was a faux experience bar that filled up and you'd get an item every time you "leveled up" at your cap level.

Getting visual rewards for capping a class that’s already capped I think is a good way to bring in spell glams

Like if I filled up 10 bars at level 100 I unlock the ability to turn mog parts into namazu parts

I really like this idea.

FFXI had merit points, which were direct stat or abilility improvements, but FFXI was stuck on horizontal job progression for a LONG time and it was the only way to let people grind out improvements when the game was capped at 75 for years. Thankfully, those permanent improvements also stuck around at 99 and were still helpful, so no effort was wasted.

Since that doesn't really work for XIV's gear progression, any of OP's suggestions could work. I especially like having more Khloe points as an option. It's either feast or famine when it comes to second chance points, and some weeks I struggle to get the right fights in a roulette and have to deliberately sign up for a level 70-80 dungeon instead of using a roulette to fill the need, which kind of defeats the purpose.

FFXI's merit system in the 75 era meant that you could use your max level jobs for EXP grind.
In FFXIV, once you get all jobs capped (or all the jobs you care about), the game just becomes a gear grind with a weekly cap and all those EXP roulettes don't give much to run.

I would envision a merit style system, but for job glamour in FFXIV.
So if you're playing on BLM you "level up" and gain a BLM job mastery point, if you do it on WAR it will be a WAR job mastery point.
The points can then be used to buy certain glamour outfits, items and abilities.
So for a PLD you might want the FFXI or Mobius artifact armor sets, or a MNK could get a Asuran Fists as a glamour ability for Phantom Rush. Could even get some retired job abilities such as DRK's Power Slash to glamour over Soul Eater.
Especially the abilities would let people personalize their jobs.

Each job would have their own points, so as to encourage people to play all the jobs for the different glamours, or just the jobs that they want to focus on.

I'd certainly run more dungeons/roulettes if I could get those stupid bicolor gemstones from something else than eye gouging fates.

Bicolor gems seems like a good idea as an alternative to just running FATEs. It doesn't have to be much and FATEs would still be the best option for quickly getting them, but a small amount every day would add up and help toward getting the vouchers.

Honestly, there should be more crossover of rewards for different content outside of the very top end, let people enjoy they content they like and get progress towards the basic stuff in most other areas.

This is a good idea. Even when leveling, the appeal for roulettes isn't there. There are so many other long grinds (PvP/DD/Bozja/gems) that give EXP on the side, so there's no reason to go through boring dungeons and CT.

I wouldn't mind that or just uncap the math tomes much earlier since I just need to do the EXDR 4x a week, and I get bored for the other days on my maxed jobs.

As someone capped at all 100 battle jobs, I would also find more incentive to log in

Same here, just paying my FF house tax and doing 450 tomes per week until cosmic exploration / occult crescent.

The rewards we get is by far not enough.

I would really love more reason to play level 100 jobs.

+1 to this, Bicolor gems would be an excellent reward for doing rouls with a capped job, especially if they're going to keep adding items that require (checks) 50,000 gemstones to earn.


If they're concerned about devaluing the bicolor rewards, could just make it so they drop when you've earned all your capped tomes for the week, or if you have no unlocked jobs left to level ie everything at 100 already.

No, you already have the ability to get everything you want from uncapped Tomestones by converting them to gil. We do not need to devalue the experience of people who actually want to do more than roulettes by making roulettes a catch-all for everything.

I know that this mindset comes from gacha game dailies where you get your 10 different currencies and build up towards something but you legitimately can still do that in this game. You just need to put in the extra effort to actually make gil via your tomestones and you can buy Bicolor Vouchers or whatever you want to not engage with outside of running roulettes.

How about an item that gives you 10 or 20 leve allowances for 1k poetics?

Is fate grinding doing "more than roulettes"? Like, what is there to devalue from this?

It feels as if the uncapped tomes are intended to be the answer for the situation where we don’t need exp or the weekly tomes from roulettes, but they’re not good enough as rewards. Unless we actually have more things that we’d want to spend gil on.

For high level dungeon and alliance raid I think it would be really nice if the roulettes gave us tokens that we could eventually trade for their loot drops, similar to how we have the books in Savage. It sucks trying to get a piece of glam or Ultimate bis when there’s no guaranteed drops like in levelling dungeons.

I hear you for uncapped tomes, but the Neo Abrasives are a mere 4k each already, and a lot of their crafting mats have dropped in value like it's not the worst time, but it does feel tiresome.

Also, I don't understand how it would devalue FATEs either like I dread doing them, and I'd much rather do roulettes.

You're not wasting the XP. You get uncapped/capped tomestone rewards once you do content at max level. We can consider this a direct conversion from XP earned to tomestones earned. Whether you feel this is not enough of a reward is up to the individual, but the fact is that you literally get compensation for XP already.

Injecting daily Bicolor gemstones from roulettes into the economy causes prices for Bicolor items to drop. Instead of the prices of these items being valued only by how often players choose to FATE grind or fight World Bosses, they are now affected by a drip-feed of players receiving Bicolors by just doing their dailies. If I'm going to defend players' ability to choose to FATE grind or do World Bosses for Bicolors, I must also defend the sentiments of this thread, which there are two: 1) Max Level Roulettes should be worth more. 2) Uncapped Tomestones are not worth enough. Players who enjoy doing level 100 content in the Duty Finder should feel like they get something out of it, the same as players who enjoy going to World Bosses or FATE grinding.

The reason that max level roulettes feel worthless is because uncapped tomestones are not worth enough, but what is the reason that uncapped tomes are worth so little? The answer is really simple: Hunts.

Hunts simply inject the game with way too many uncapped tomes from the roughly 3 A Rank Hunt Trains that take place daily on every server, as well as the 3-4 day cycle of S ranks, with every additional instance of a zone that gets implemented with a patch adding even more marks. Not only do Hunts provide more uncapped tomestones to the economy than the duty finder, but they also provide essentially all of the game's battle materia.

Removing uncapped tomes from Hunts would immediately improve the value of all gear/potion materials bought with uncapped tomes while also shifting the primary method of acquiring said value to max level Duty Finder content, with roulettes being the best time investment. While I understand that this would be devaluing Hunts, which is antithetical to my whole premise of not devaluing branches of content, I believe that this devaluation of Hunts is warranted because they retain two integral functions to the game: 1) providing battle materia 2) offering a method to quickly cap weekly tomes. If players feel like these two aspects are not enough, Hunts also retain their unique currency of Nuts which can be given the Bicolor Voucher/Mount Token treatment to increase the value of the currency.

And finally, if this solution of removing uncapped tomes from Elite Marks is not enough to improve the value of max level roulettes and duty finder content, uncapped tomes could also be given their own unique voucher at some point.

Lets face it we not going to get any reward alterations, but at least give us a title to work towards

But more seriously, fair enough. I guess it also comes from a personal wish on my end to get to some of those goodies without having to go through what I consider the lowest pit of game design in this game, aka FATEs. If they made them more interesting and engaging perhaps I'd be less inclined to ask for bigems to appear in other types of content, but you'd be right in calling me selfish on that one.

Still, I find it a little annoying that literally every content in this game drops tomes. Like, literally everything you do gives you tomes: pve, hunts, pvp, duties, even tribe quests ffs. You overcap like crazy if you even barely play each day. There is the uncapped tomes as mentioned, but they do not reward way enough. Why doing fate brings me actual long term rewards, while some other content is done in a few snaps of my fingers and gives me access to literally nothing? Where are the goodies I can get by doing my dailies? Why do fates reward a unique currency with its unique rewards while some other content does not?

Just to point out, some of these roulettes already do this. If you run leveling roulette on a capped job, you gain capped tomestones, but if you run it on a non-capped job, you don't gain those.

But some content that doesn't convert that experience, I'd like to see that experience become something else. Maybe if I'm doing a FATE that normally gives bicolor gemstones, give me more. If I'm doing a dungeon that gives exp and poetics, give me more poetics (not like I need them). Maybe something like the PvP series experience bar. Maybe that fills up and you get some job-specific rewards. Hell, make it "special" for tanks and healers so they keep queuing.
