I seem to be getting very mixed signals right there

Yoshi P lying? Hold the press. I had a rose-coloured view of this company, but thats kind of gone now.
What I've learned with this company / it's devs / producer is that you don't listen to ANY of their words, but what they actually DO.
The trust needs to be EARNED back.
Anyone unironically hopeful should unironically put in a lottery ticket, because you are unironically statistically better off winning the lottery than you are with this.
They say that, Then keep doing the same stuff as always.
Hilarious!
Obviously he meant the new frontlines actions.
And subjobs in Occult Crescent.
And if those go well we might see selectable actions as part of a real job someday.
The writing was already on the wall when 7.05 dropped. Then again when 7.1 dropped. At first I thought Yoshi-P maybe simply had no control over his team anymore, but I guess he is just a liar.
And until the devs get actual pushback on all of this, nothing will change. Hells, I don't think even if we give them some form of pushback by, for example, spamming live letter twitch chat with our anger, chances are that they would just double down unapologetically. The only feedback channel that we have is this forum, and it is being consistently ignored.
The answer is no, he can't.
The only feedback channel you have is your wallet. Unsub, if you're this pressed about the state of the game. I don't say this to be antagonistic, either. If you genuinely wanna see change, take away their profits. If enough players unsub, they will have to course-correct.
"We'll call the fire brigade to extinguish your burning house in 8.0, please look forward to it" says Yoshida, as he continues pouring the gasoline.
Game developers never makes promises but players sure insert that word into their mouth.
I mean this was right before 7.0 right?
It already contradicts itself back then because 7.0 had some Massive Simplification
1. raid buffs becoming 20s (ontop of already all being 2ms thanks EW)
2. Ast card system removed all RNG
3. Monk now having basically no fail state as the rotation tells you exactly what to press.
4. Dragoon changes
5. Black mage getting simplified (the first time)
When are we going to wake up and realise 8.0 isn't going to change anything for the better in terms of job design, we've seen the direction for years upon years.
I think people really underestimate how long it takes them to make changes. They just don't change things willy-nilly. The plan was that in 7.0 they change up encounter design in response to feedback, which Yoshida has said we will really only start to see now and then in 8.0 job changes are coming.
Personally I'm afraid because I like how White Mage is right now and I'm terrified they are going to listen to feedback and add some kind of rotation to White Mage that I won't like. But we all have to wait and see.
Yoshi-P publicly announced that this was a mistranslation and that he did not say that at all.

"About 3 days ago, on GamesRadar I believe. We're assuming that the person who interviewed Yoshida was different from the person who was actually editing the article. But there was mention about how we wanted to focus on evolving as an MMO, and Yoshida was talking about how we were going to enhance the gameplay, especially from 7.2 and beyond. And then, after all of that has concluded, we would look into kind of adjusting the jobs. And for some reason, the article kind of misconstrued it, and it made it sound like we would start applying drastic changes to jobs from 7.2 and beyond. And that got amplified by certain prominent Black Mage players. So, in this case itself the source was inaccurate, so I just wanted to clarify that as well."
So what they meant was they were enhancing the gameplay (aka battles) in Dawntrail, especially from 7.2 because the first tier is always easy, and then after all that is done (we know from other interviews they mean 8.0), they will look at the jobs. The article writer misinterpreted it as jobs that would change from 7.2, when they meant the battles would.
You... know what Square Enix does to unprofitable online games, right? Spoiler, it is not fixing them.
Also, you are assuming that I have not already drastically reduced the amount of money I spend on this game as an answer to the current state. I used to have multiple additional retainers and a bigger subscription. Now that I mostly play PVP, there is no need for all that. Still I would like to find enjoyment in other parts of the game again, enjoyment that used to be there before things were changed. With the lack of a proper exit questionare when cancelling a sub though, CS3 will never know exactly why people unsubscribe.
Maybe one day I'll get fully bored of PVP too, and then my sub will be gone.
I do not see him pulling back on the "jobs will not get more simple" statement here. What was corrected was that the article was writing something about changes to jobs coming from 7.2 onward, which has already been accepted widely by the community and is not being pressed against.
Enhancing battles only does not automatically also mean "gutting classes".
I think part of the individuality is keeping some classes more simple that others.
With 4 healers, we could totally have a wider range of complexity as part of the dps rotation instead of having 4 times exactly the same one.
WHM will most likely remains on the simple side (heck i've stopped believing at ever getting a 3rd button as any healer)
I thematically prefer white mage the most out of the healers, so I'd be disappointed if they gave the other healers cool damage stuff but left out the job, but at the end of the day I'd be happy theirs just actual fun healers so I much rather that then nothing.
Though all SE needs to do is turn Paladins into healers and I'll finally stop complaining until i realise i got one damage button
I think it's called lip service, and he is very good at it.
If they had dps "rotation" on healer, i'm betting we will still push only 1 for it.
Nah, i will harass him active, without question if i dont see him using a dmg gcd for 10s i will kick the shit out of him
Back to the Topic xD
I never trusted his Words from the beginning, when i started the Game it was so freaking weird everyone did like this Dude is a God, it was so cringe, but glad people finally start to see he is not different then everyone else
And yet what just happened to BLM is, I would argue a drastic redesign and job change. In patch 7.2. So either he was lying and full of shit, or the job balance team decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on job changes ahead of schedule.... but actually on-schedule according to the interview, so who am I supposed to believe here?
Either way, he said jobs would not be getting more simple, pretty unambiguously. Which is also....

And don't even try "Well he didn't know". He's the Producer/Director, it's his job to know.
I've been thinking about this interview a lot as well. What a joke.
I try to give the devs the benefit of the doubt more often than not but their approach to job design is inexcusable. Every patch they only further double down on removing any job mechanics that could conceivably require a single brain cell to perform successfully. As someone who was drawn to this game initially because the jobs were a little more complex than the competition, and very fun as a result, it's depressing to see everything that makes them fun and unique get sanded down to nothing.
Until I see evidence to the contrary I'm assuming this "8.0 job rework" is just going to be more simplification. Maybe they'll add a feature where your job just plays itself since choosing between the three buttons you have left is still too stressful for their target audience.
His chief job is to make money for SE. If that requires hype and deception, that's the fine text in the job description.
"Krile will have more of a role to play in this expansion"
Even if we took this completely at face value. It's quite the stretch to think the same team that has continued to dumb down jobs throughout Dawntrail is suddenly going to do a complete 180 and reintroduce measures of complexity come 8.0. Not only would that mean all the work they're currently doing would be functionally pointless in two years time, but might alienate the very demographic they seem to desperately be targeting with these changes. And that's not even considering how monumental an undertaking it would be to overhaul 20 jobs while still adding at least one more to that list.
At best, a couple jobs might see their gameplay alters to be more complex while the rest languish in the queue waiting for their own ala Astro and Dragoon. The far more likely scenario is Yoshida widely exaggerating as he's been prone to do on several occasions now.
I sure am already doing that with the current healer design, actually even more so because it is this simplistic.
Sorry but if your job has an overabundance of free healing and the most mindnumbingly dumb "dps rotation" consisting of mostly two buttons then I will absolutely judge someone not using any of it and just spamming Cure.
If dealing damage or keeping HP bars up on a healer were actually more involved than watching paint dry I might be more understanding of someone not being able to figure it out.
SE been real quiet
Didnt he say changes are coming in 8.0 which basically made the article the OP is refering to obselete?
I think you should re-read the article.
