7.2 patch notes indicate that there is an "issue" preventing MSQ progress at launch

I feel like this is important enough that it needs to be raised separately from the patch notes discussion.

The 7.2 full patch notes have just released and there are some concerning notes down in the "Known Issues" section.

What is going on? Can we actually play the MSQ at launch or do we need to wait until fixes have been implemented -- and how long should we expect to wait for them?

EDIT:

ovIm has provided a translation from the German patch notes which indicate that it might be only an issue with the icons, not the actual quest, so we will have to wait and see if it gets clarified.

I'd interpret that not as a blocker for the MSQ, but as a but affecting the quest logs icons. We shall see whats going on tomorrow, I guess.

Absolutely crazy, it must be really rare for them to still release the patch

EDIT: looking at the JP patch notes it says "quests appear as green icons on the objective list even when they cannot be progressed, making them appear as if they can be progressed.

Which makes it sound like it will appear green in your objective list but you still need to do the quest objective for it to actually progress and you will still be able to progress MSQ

Please understand that most of the last 6 months was spent designing savage. Please look forward to being able to do the MSQ at the end of April or May.

Thanks for that. Hopefully that's all it is, but then it seems really careless to describe it in that way in English.

Thanks for checking on that. I suspected it was a visual issue, not an actual blocker, because of the fact that it was delayed to hotfix and not fixed on the gold patch before release

The English localization team wasn't satisfied butchering game scripts. Now they want to butcher patch notes too!

Can we please just stick to the subject instead of rehashing an irrelevant "I don't like this character" joke?

Has anyone confirmed whether this supposed issue is indeed just about the icon and not the quest?

I haven't finished all of the quests, and haven't been paying attention to the icons but the way I read it is that one of the quests has a step mistakenly labeled as the end of if it by having the green checkmark icon.

It has nothing to do with "i don't like this character".
No, the fact this is exclusively an English team issue is very relevant. It speaks to their level of attention, and need to localize things differently from the rest of the teams just because they can.

I'm learning how QA works as part of a work project, and even one of the most popular automated testing / QA companies in the world (Katalon) has in its training video: "There will always be bugs." Doesn't matter if it's a 10 employee team like mine is, or a 10,000 employees. There will always be a few bugs that you don't catch until the patch is released.

They actually DID catch this during final QA, though, and that's why it's in the Known Issues. They just determined it wasn't important enough to delay the patch, and I agree with that assessment.

I think Reyn is talking about the EN version of LL patch notes being weirdly translated, while the other version is more understandable and closer to JP. Not the actual bugs itself. But this is just my interpretation though.

Unless you had your Journal open, you might have never seen it. Most folks who are caught up on current patch content don't bother with the Journal, they just run off the MSQ indicator or the quest icons directly in the zone.

This actually was a problem all the way back in Heavensward once, now that I think about it, for an ARR quest in Mor Dhona, where a quest icon showed as "green" in the journal but would appear as red when you went to talk to the NPC, but back then it was because it was level locked on the NPC but didn't have the level check in the journal. Most players wouldn't run into it because you're well past level 50 by the time you hit 45-47 MSQ these days. I only noticed it on an alt that was doing pure MSQ with no side content.
