Devs, please reconsider experience in the Occult Crescent

I know it's probably too late now, but it's really annoying that you can spend so many hours in content and not get any experience out of it. I was really hoping Occult Crescent would be more like Bozja in that it gave you real experience rather than a weird experience that's only applicable in the field operation like Eureka.

I think they ended up doing this because we're also going to have a Deep Dungeon. Deep Dungeon is what you'll be able to use to level up. Not a bad idea, since PotD to this day stays populated thanks to it.

It was just due to the lack of a deep dungeon in Shadowbringers tbh.

It's easy to level jobs anyway. You have so many options. Beast tribes, FATE farming, daily hunt bills, roulettes and eventually the deep dungeon.

Not having a good way to level until over a year into the expansion is certainly a decision.

You can legit just idle in crystalline conflict and gain super fast exp while watching netflix. Just be active enough to try.
That combined with daily roulettes and youre golden with leveling jobs.

Yeah- uh- XP in Bozja was nice, but we didn't have XP in Eureka and it wasn't a problem there either. I am not a powergamer, and I maxed all my combat jobs this time around by doing Pelupelu quests daily and a single frontline + leveling roulette. I don't know what they did in DT, but it's far easier to max jobs from 90-100 than it was in ShB or EW in their level ranges.

FATEs do give a decent amount of XP, and you have the weekly challenge log to do 10 FATEs for another chunk of XP.
Doing all the Roulettes gives like a minimum of 2 levels daily.
You have the combat Beast Tribe quests.

And you can always just spam dungeons to level, unless you get a bad enough group that somehow has lower DPS than a trust party it's not all that bad.

Yoshida referred to the Deep Dungeon as "the levelling content" in the interview, so I found it strange that such content would be added so late in the expansion.

I personally don't have much of an issue with levelling in this game. Roulettes are alright, and I think some people are in too much of a rush to reach max level. It would be nice to have something less tedious and repetitive than overworld FATEs that isn't daily limited, but still.

Every single Deep Dungeon was added in X.35 patch, so it's not really a surprise. Especially with how the devs typically stick to the formula. If anything, it's a surprise we're getting Field Operations this early since it came later in ShB and we're not due to get as many zones as SB.

Tbf that was the same for Bozja. Bozja was not 5.2 content. It was 5.3. I do agree with you, but it's not like it's a new thing.

All leveling methods will inevitably become boring, whether it’s Roulettes, FATE grinding, Deep Dungeon, or Bozja/Field Operations. When you’re forced to repeat any activity endlessly, it loses appeal.

That said, I believe the new Field Operations don’t allow leveling to prevent them from overlapping with thew new Deep Dungeon that is coming out. Though Deep Dungeon wasn’t even the best leveling method in Endwalker, who knows? More likely, SE didn’t want another Bozja situation, which was so overtuned that it remained the best way to level even into the next expansion. I think their goal isn’t to create one “optimal” leveling method but to keep all methods equally viable.

I understood what you meant and I agree with you
It's being advertised as the way to level in Dawntrail, but I myself have already maxed everything just by doing dailies and whatever else in the meantime. It'd be nice if something like that was implemented sooner, if it's supposed to be the intended/premium way to level up.

I will admit it's not entirely necessary either, and obviously I could've put off leveling other jobs until this stuff came out, but having to wait so long for it isn't good. It's nice to be able to simultaneously level a job and farm aetherpool

My two cents: I agree that I wish Occult would be a 91-100 with a sync up to 100 even though I won't need it.

By the time it comes out, I won't need it to level anything, but I'd still like it since I recognize that if people are using the place to level their classes then it means more people will be participating now and down the line. Bozja is still very active to this day because a lot of people use it to level and it makes for a fun community. If it weren't for people leveling, I don't think it would be nearly as active as it is now, so that aspect really helps people who are late to the game but want old relics as well as people who just enjoy the content to have more people to do things with. Honestly Bozja is one of the few places where I've actually felt like the game has a community doing content at. I did 16 of the classes from 71-90 in there due to it feeling more community based. I know Eureka is still active because it is good for gil, so let us hope that Occult is too so people have reason to do it still several patches later or even next expac.

For those saying Deep Dungeon is the leveling thing. It is, but why can't both be to offer people different options?
I personally like the community aspect, seeing familiar faces, and chatting people up in Bozja while waiting for events to start more than I enjoy spamming the same floors of a DD with people I'll likely never see again in my lifetime. And offering both is a nice way for people to get to pick what they want to do and help them not get bored since they could bounce between.

Ultimately, I think it would have been nice, but it is definitely too late for a change like that (or it would be a miracle if they changed it).

This aspect might help with having more people there doing FATEs for levels but unfortunately this sort of usage for leveling classes actually hurts people trying to do relics later. I was trying to help friends get through Bozja in early DT and everyone was so concerned just leveling their PCT and VPR there, they would ignore CLL when it popped. You have to do CLL to continue the relic questline.

No i dont want exp in endgame, it lures in the wrong ppl... give me endgame rewards.

Yeah, I hit all jobs to 100 last month. And I wasn't even trying that hard. Feels like 75% of my leveling was done just trying to get my trusts to level 100 and get Pelupelu maxed out.

because you are supposed to play the newly released expansion content =) deep dungeons are a catch up content when it comes to leveling imo, and leveling it's not it's only purpose

There is another "can't get past level 30 without a static" deep dungeon coming!!
I can't even do HoH because the few people I've met (few because I'm now "playing other games") are limited by their focus on Savage.
Is there going to be 'any' challenging content that is fun to just queue casually?
So far for an entire expansion, all I've had is 4 normals (no reason to do more than once, I dint need the gear for savage), and 3 extremes (so much fun to clear, but just horrible to repeat with moody farm PFs, even more horrible by the time your on tedious umpteenth pull off the same 1 boss for the 30th day that week)
Yeah if this game can't keep my casual social groups subbed year round, this game is just not for me or my friends. Which by definition I am fine with. But is this really all the ambition that square has?
I am now blaming square and not CB3, because it is clear that they have just been spending our sub on other projects.
Profit is theirs to do with as they please, but they've been allocating ludicrously too much to profit, and not enough to cost of maintaining the game.

Friend, I am completely on board most of your righteous indignation about the game, but this deep dungeon thing isn't helping your argument.

As those in this thread will readily confirm, I am so bad at PvE it is amazing I can find the power switch to my PC. But even I can solo deep dungeons to the levels required, for example, by the mogtome thingummy.

Occult crescent does give XP though…..it gives XP in support jobs. I don’t think it’s odd at all that zones with seperate power systems exclusively give XP in the power system they work off. Bozja was an exception because mettle giving power (via rays) was added later, originally mettle was just a proxy for how much the Bozjan resistance would allow you to explore

Since support jobs come day 1 I don’t see why the content needs regular XP as well
