Content getting harder to pop

Okay so I live in eu and everything i say is entirely subjective to EU population, but I am extremely concerned about the state of the game in the last 3 months. lately nothing i que for seams to pop without ridiculously long que timers.

in PF the savage tier is basically dead in if its not between 7-9st (which is a very small window to play this content) cloud of darkness pf seams to be shrinking as well with that content basically not going until about 3pm and its went from 20 pf to about 3 tops.

Roulettes on average as a tank take over 5 minutes to pop which is honestly crazy. dps ques don't even pop for upwards for 30 minutes and healers instantly pop which means you either play healer or nothing (not exactly the best look when it says TANK in need constantly.) which just clogs the que up more with tanks. My boyfriend recently made a new character and he made a healer, too and even he couldn't get the older content to pop, average wait times for trails were over 15 minutes (as a healer) and since he was new he'd be pulling in mentors yet it still wasn't enough

pvp crystalline conflict has been notoriously bad too with it popping only after 11am consistently and its always the same 15 people from the pool as well, so even less of the availed spammable content is active. and while one might say "its the time of week" I have this problem on weekends too

fishing boats are almost always under capacity as well tho this is from observation not direct engagement. overworld fates are generally dead in DT zones and only S-ranks and A-ranks trains being the only thing people do now consistently.

Now I give these perspective from light DC and i've heard chaos is even worse if not damn near unviable as a datacenter. but of course your mileage may vary. all i wish to do is point out that the games current content cycle and release schedule has been increased to on average 19 weeks (its pretty much to the T) which is 5 months and not the 4-4.5 months we were told it would increase to. and this is having very bad impacts on the population of the game right now.. It's never felt this bad in the 6 years i've played

This is also very upsetting when I continuously see alternative clients like MOBILE and now CHINA EXCLUSIVE client getting updates more than the main game. but hey maybe ur experiences are different, maybe im only this games target audience between 7 and 9 PM st. /shrug

In the 3 (4) dungeon roulettes you’ll never wait on a healer, you may wait on a tank and you will wait on a DPS, trials and normal raids are roughly equal in either waiting or not waiting on the supports. Alliance is a free for all

On Light, haven't noticed any problems with queues. Do you have all languages selected?

I would also at the very least like some more transparency in this window as how many or what role are currently in the que. because for roulettes and pvp u simply cannot tell. i could be in a que of 9 here, or a que of only 1. Knowing this would at least give me an indication of how long untill this might pop and if i could ask people to make it pop realistically.

That's true in all regions but especially NA. I think there are only more parties outside those hours in EU because there is a much increased amount of people without a fulltime job or other distraction, but it's still a boom in evening hours in all regions in any case.

Then they probably need a healer or DPS instead. With roulettes, it's usually not related to the amount of people that queue but the role that is most in need.

When I was new to the game, every single MSQ content I queued for took 40 minutes as a tank. That was 10 years ago. I don't know what it's like now that the game has grown, but I know some people still take 40-70 minutes at dead hours.

Can only speak for NA, but in NA PvP often dies by around midnight PST. It only really fixes itself after the daily reset time. That's a whole 7 hours where it can struggle to pop at all and is about the same time EST as you're saying (10-11AM).

Whenever I've done CC it's always been the same faces if I queue over and over again. This is obviously because certain people are farming it at that particular moment in time. Most people who do it are farming it and not just doing it one time.

Yoshi-P is actually surprised by how fast the mobile developers can develop things. Apparently they told him that they could do it even faster if it's needed. Although in fairness their blueprint is already there since they are copying the main game and don't need to come up with ideas, concept art or designs themselves aside from the mobile differences.

this could be conjecture but i did a player search for "world" and found 193 members for my server. which is very low. now obv EU is comprised of multiple servers, but this is very low player count in general

It's also in the middle of the working day, you would expect lower numbers during these hours.

While I agree with everything you've said, I think it's worth pointing out that the majority of players right now are focused on Monster Hunter Wilds. I didn't realize how burnt out I was until I picked it up. Despite all the performance issues, I felt genuinely relieved to be playing something other than FFXIV.

Working day, Monster Wilds release, and it depends what you wanna run even as healer i dont get instant pops when i wanna run a dungeon which nobody needs to touch or anything, roulettes should if its not alliance raid still pop in 2-3min so i dont see the issue its probably more likely you wanna run some specific dungeon


and cc is death anyway, no need to do that content

199 on my world (people in NA will just barely be waking up if they aren't at work). This does not count people in duties and most people who play the game are logged in to do a duty since 99% of content is instanced.

Another thing to note is that this is concurrent players, which is the amount of players logged in right now. In one hour, many of those players will have logged out and been replaced by another 199 players. Concurrent means that if there are 2000 total players per month, only 200 of them play at any given moment in time, for example.

I imagine the actual cap for each world is only several thousand. That might not seem a lot for a game with hundreds of thousands of players but that's why there are 11 data centers with 85 worlds which by my estimate could support no more than half the active playerbase at any moment in time, which is fine because they will not all login at once and they can do an AFK timer at expansion launches.

I'm on Chaos and I can't say that I've had any issues with any queues popping from duty finder whilst playing tank.
They're always more or less instant.

I do work a normal 9-5 job, so I'm logging on in the evening during "peak" hours.

CC also never takes long to pop, not to the extent of what you have seen however, Sindriiis.

The raid scene on Chaos is terrible, but for that, if I want to raid I go to Light.

Sorry you must be mistaken. Most people ERP and "club" outside of an instance and that's what 99% of the remaining subsucribed people do (and bots).

I waited 27 minutes as a DPS for the 20 Mogtome raid (Royal City) which I would have thought people would want to run for the weekly Tome quest. I gave up and waited another 15 as a healer. On a Saturday...

I know Monster Hunter just came out and there are other new RPGs like KCD2/POE2 people may be playing and this is in a lull. But it was still disappointing.

Are peeps being pulled away for moogle tomes? I know Trial and Normal Raid are hopping on Aether because everyone's farming right now.

One thing to note is that the 20 Mogtome Objective is different for everyone. Mine this week was Saint Moccianne's and my wife's was Porta Decumana and since most people are farming for tomes through GATEs outside of those objectives it isn't going to be a guarantee pop thing. That said. During normal live hours I don't have to wait for most queues. PvP is an insta pop, as is anything I am queueing for as a Tank. Hell I had an insta queue for the Jeuno as a DPS on a Sunday so I'm not entirely certain what's going on over on EU realms.

This is good to know. I still feel it took quite long for a 70 raid, but since everyone's I guess isn't the same that would split up how many people are looking for a specific raid. Maybe during lulls they should make these more standard.

The problem is that you chose the absolutely worst MMO out there to do group content in. The vast majority is subbed for Barbie & Ken activities, ''Virtual Clubbing" (because who does actually want to go out anymore?) with the remainder being some solo shenanigans, crafting and collecting.

And I can see why, because at some point people are tired of learning the sequences of lines, donuts and circles, and that's essentially all this game has in the PvE department.

I guess I don't think like most people then - I like StB and EW raids the most. I'm completely burnt out on ARR and HW due to how often I used to get them - along with barely having a fun kit to use. While fun I don't enjoy the setting of Nier.

Doesn't work if they haven't logged into the account with someone doing scraping, or if they are using a separate service account. Another service account is another PID, which of course wouldn't tie back to their real main.

Alas, I'll have to live with my assumptions being assumptions unless proven otherwise.

Rival Wings is currently the most efficient way to farm tomes. It's fast and allows you to level your jobs, earn seals, progress through the PvP series, and work toward the mount achievement. However, the tome rewards are primarily items players already have or don’t need, so many may not be inclined to set aside the new games for it.

Fyi: Primal is considered the go-to DC, last I heard for RW, during prime time.

It's everywhere, They need to fuse some of these worlds and data centers.

I literally cannot proc any of the raids on my DC (Dynamis) and have to go to Aether just to get them filled, As a new player i would get to CT and quit the game after realizing every member is mandatory and you can't skip it without paying SE money.

I'm on Chaos (Cerberus) and haven't noticed any issues with queues in non-working time hours. Mostly queue as DPS, stuff generally pops after 7-8 minutes at most, aside from Ivalice/Nier raids.

I have no reason to do daily roulettes. All jobs at max level, series 7 PvP rewards obtained, no longer doing weekly anything. I'm guessing many players are in a similar position. Now is the best time to play other games if you don't want anything from Moogle Treasure Trove.

I popped temple of qarn as dps late last night in 6 minutes. You definitely have a setting wrong in your duty finder.

So you popped an ARR dungeon that’s in the mogtome event right now me that’s supposed to refute their point

Population wise for active players we should be at the lowest point now number for a number of reasons, decline, lack of content, end of patch lull, and other massive game launch (MHWilds.) Seasonal event with gear might push things a tiny bit, but next couple weeks are going to be slower than ever until next patch.

It seem vary a lot, see quite a lot of Ivalice (probably due to tomestone event), and quite a lot of Eden. However, EW raid took quite long to pop, even in Sunday afternoon just few hours after daily reset. I try queuing as both tank and dps, seem to have similar average wait time between 20-40 minute

What are you queuing for? Because most duties I queue for, no matter whether it's Tank, Healer or DPS has been fairly short. 10-15 minutes at most.

Right, let's see... If I currently open the PF I see 50 parties (outside of primetime).
Of which 35 are High Duty. Most are for Ultimates but there are 7 for Savage floors. I would not consider that dead. Chaotic is another type of beast and you're better off finding a Discord server for it to be honest. You also have to consider that those who are done farming likely will not return to it, therefore less parties as well.

I somehow find it weird that you have to wait for 30 minutes where as all my roulettes popped within 5-10 minutes on a dps no less. Again, outside of primetime. There are exceptions to this of course, but on average it has not been long at all, especially not 30+ minutes long.

It has been well known that PvP only starts popping around a certain time and will indeed cycle through the same players until more are added to the pool. Nothing new when you play on off times. You're also playing at the tail end of the season, it'll pick up again around 7.2 when the new Series comes out.

Don't do the fishing thing often so can't comment on that, however the overworld has always been dead besides the occasional hunt train. There are a few parties for Fate grinds up in PF every once in a while, or make your own when you're doing it. They may not get a lot of traction but people will join eventually.

Yeah, sorry no. The game is still healthy despite what others think. I still have screenshots where I waited 3-6 hours (and more) for one duty to pop as a Healer back in HW / early Stormblood. Back when it was common for dps to wait at least 30 minutes for one dungeon (or any duty that was not current really), I'll happily take the 10-15 minutes wait we have now.

And Chaos is far from dead. Roulettes still pop in a reasonable timeframe. The only thing that is dead on Chaos is PF as everyone is on Light for that.

Yeah, right. China that's behind our own patch cycle. They get exlusive stuff every once in a while that eventually will get ported over to us as well, so in due time we'll have that too.

I also don't believe that the devs that are working on the mobile version are the same that are working on the main game. Will there be overlap? Most likely. Will it hinder the main game's development? I highly doubt it.


All in all, it's really not as bad as you make it out to be. Wait times have been stable for a while now and we're in the lull of the patch, combine that with some big game releases it's only natural that there are less people. However, in my point of view it's no where near as dead as you claim it to be.

45 mins for Pharos (hard) or hells Keir (normal and savage both selected) this morning as a dps, just after the cards. It’s not good, could I sync Pharos to be fair but it’s boring.

It's pretty dead on NA too aside from Crystal n Aether, I can go an entire day without seeing another person unless i enter a city on Dynamis.

I'm idling right now on Crystal trying to queue for Abyssos 5th circle and sitting at 50 min queue, SE needs to either get their act together or start fusing stuff cause Abyssos is harder to proc than Crystal tower, Nier & Skypirate combined.

Sol 9 is also super dead on dynamis 0 souls in vicinity most the time.

Waiting +20 minutes for an Alliance raid is normal, since most of them take +20 minutes to complete.

The alliance roulettes queue system is just flawed for people trying to direct queue

For 1 the raid doesn’t backfill so all people have to accept otherwise the queue rejects
Secondly the queue prioritises minimising the queue for the most amount of people. We’ve all seen it. You’ll be queueing for say………puppets and the queue will pop once or twice and not go through because someone rejects and then suddenly the queue goes dead. You know what happens when that happens……the queue has dumped the rest of the players sitting in the roulette into CT and your queue reset

The alliance roulette really needs to be rebuilt

Queues is longer now and also doesn't help having DDOS attacks all the time that causes you to be booted from the game.

Alliance queue is certainly very weird, direct queue take ages to pop, but if I queue the alliance roulette it is always less than 5 minutes no matter which role

Yep, tomestone event just shifted everyone to one type of duty. HW alliance raids (any) did not pop after 40 minutes as a healer during evening time on Chaos

You should just quit forever tbh. Based on your post history, you're very unhappy. Why force yourself to do something you don't enjoy?
