The story around the time she gets involved and partly afterwards retained my interest to keep playing through the msq at least.

I'll be honest: I think people would've hated Moenbryda just as much as Wuk Lamat if she had the same amount of screentime during the MSQ.

It's weird how some people are in some kind of PWSD (Post Wuk Stress Disorder) after the MSQ.

Highly depends on the character's portrayal and the writing.

Given the level of writing we got with Wuk, people would end up disliking any character if they ended up like that.

Any character would be pretty much disliked if they were put excessively into the foreground like that, so yeah. The issue is not Wuks personality, its her omnipresence.

We didn't have enough time to learn to miss her.

NPCs are more popular when they rotate in and out of the ensemble cast. We go whole arcs without Y'shtola, Thancred, Urianger, etc, so that when they finally show up again, we got an "Oh shit it's DADCRED" and we're happy.

The twins tend to be a bit more involved than I like, but even they got put on Garlean duty in Endwalker so they weren't around all the time.

It should had been Minfilia taking the Ticket, Monbryeda was to sweet of a character in her own way.

Ehhhh Yesn't. It depends on the quality of the writing of such a prominent character, but also who loses screentime because someone's hogging. Any fan of Krile has a bone to pick with Wuk Lamat because her story was deep sixed in favor of yet another monologue about how much the housecat loves peace.

No one seemed to mind when Emet Selch commanded every scene he was in and some people even invited it.

The random ishgardian kid we accidentally kill had more emotional impact than the Wukkinator.

Emet Selch hogged nowhere as much screentime as Wuk did (each Scion got a fair amount of time at each zone they were assigned at, plus Ardbert and g'raha) and, on top of that, the expansions overall story was well received.

I would argue that Wuk, by herself, is simple enough to be just average, rather than bad. However, being on the spotlight for so long and the story being frankly half-cooked, she was bound to get the heat-

I'd say it's both. With both issues compounding onto each other.
We got one of the worst written characters in FFXIV, and the MSQ also solely focuses on her.

tbh id agrue that y'shtola is the worst character written the amount of asspulling she gets every expansion and the only price she has paid for it is going blind which turns out to be a benefit not a punishment price for what she did she basicly dies every new area in the game more so after yoshi' lie pre endwalker saying "there is a price to pay" nope didnt happan asspulled the scions alive AGAIN for the 1000th time honestly at this point the scions are even worse than wuk.

All the good characters they killed off the little lalafell with a btchy attidude killed pre stormblood, zenos senpai killed, zero we probably will never see again since se went lazy on voids story, emet-selch dead and Dark meteion dead any good character worth a damn they kill off

Regarding Wuk, too many people went into Dawntrail with completely the wrong perspective. DT was supposed to be an unsaid vacation after all we went through, literally, from the last few expansions. Handing her the reigns was simply a way to step back, sit in the backseat of the carriage and enjoy the ride, wherever it led. All the boohooing about Wuk’s exceedingly dramatic.

Unfortunately they couldn't even get this right, seeing how half way through the expansion yet another world ending threat popped out of nowhere.

Wuk Lamet made me learn Japanese and change the client audio to Japanese.

No, I think the vast majority went into Dawntrail thinking it was supposed to be a vacation and have lowered stakes. I don't think a single person's complaint has been that we weren't fighting Ultima in the heart of the galaxy or something.
The problem is it wasn't a vacation. It quickly turned into babysitting an idiot while you're forced to pity clap and cheer everytime some insane thing happens because the cat said 'peace'. The mentor cope also doesn't work because Wuk takes 0 advice since she's already the perfect peace warrior.
The poop cherry on the poop cake is the final trial, where we finally have a nice 1v1 with a decent threat calling us out directly only for peace cat to literally rip the fabric of reality to get back in the spot light, out damage us and steal our boss fight because apparently the warrior of light is outranked by the warrior of tacos and peace.

you forgot that the wookie broke through a time and space magic without being an expert at magic and not having echo while krile, you know a character who posses echo and is an expert at magic, didn't.

Krile just didn't believe in herself or peace enough.
Completely understandable as I'd also have trouble believing in myself if I was supposed to be a main character for an expansion but became less important than my USB earring.

I think my favorite beneg video is the wol singing the "La hee" rak Tika great wood song. It always makes me chuckle. The "helping a sprout through the vault" is really funny. That dungeon was pretty hard when it was relatively new. I started playing when stormblood was end game and it feels like the vault was much harder then it is now so the white mage sprout shrugging at the end is perfect.

Yeah, they had actual writers. They should be done with their 2 year vacation in time for 8.0 though. Just like with half of Stormblood.

I was fully expecting a casual vacation/low stakes. What I got was acting as a bodyguard for a grown child who doesn't understand their own country (who we also let get kidnapped. Honestly between Wuk and the elephant lady from Endwalker we're clearly terrible at escort jobs.) Tacos stomped, no relaxing at the hot springs, no playing on the beach, no hanging out listening to some music... the moment you touch down you're put to work.
Granted that's what vacationing is like for an adult with kids, I suppose. Can't have a moment to yourself.

I went into DT expecting a vacation. What I got was nothing like that at all. No part of Dawntrail was like a vacation for us. Infact, Estinien got the vacation and adventure I was looking forward to.

I was subbed because I wanted high fantasy adventure and got what I paid. Wish that there moment to moment questing was tightened up, though. Lots of meandering around.
