For real can we not give any criticism at all anymore?
Are the devs and some part of this community THIS against criticism and potential improvement of the game?
Criticism is not a bad thing.

Criticism is not a bad thing.
These forums are 95 percent “criticism”. What are you talking about?
They probably weren't scared before Dawntrail because there will be an army of white knights on all social media to defend them.
Now though, even places like the /r/ffxiv main sub trashes on the game, and 7.2 is crucial for them because it's the fulcrum of the months of copium that everyone had. They can't afford to let 7.2 be a disaster.
They even deleted criticism during a weekend, and they've removed basically every mention of the most recent shitstorm surrounding this issue: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...-Player-Safety
Notice how Yoshi P's thread is immediately closed. You can't discuss it in any capacity here. You aren't allowed to question their atrocious programming practices that even allowed that issue to occur in the first place.
This won't be the first and expect more controversies to be stealthily deleted. This is a brave new age for these forums.
the forums are almost always critical of the game, this argument makes no sense
it's more than likely because it talked about the stalking tool, because they already deleted a thread that specifically talked about it
the whole thing seems to have caused a panic because I've seen the developers talk about how it can't access critical information, which to me seems to imply that a lot of people were talking about that and freaking out
If I were to believe these forums and the reddit for ffxiv, then this game is already dead and a burning pile of trash. But I don't, considering I play daily and know better. As do the community I play with.
A game is a game, if you do not find it fun. Don't play it. FFXIV has stuck the the same formula since 2.0 what makes you think it will change? Or even need to change? I swear, I really wish the population boom of ShB and Endwalker didn't happen. But then again, these forums were insanely negative even before then.
Well that's good for your community, but your community don't really speak on behalf of an entire player-base... Nor does the one you interact with on a daily basis, Neither does this one for that matter. I wouldn't call it dead, but it is far from thriving either.
Also, actually, the developers were a lot less risk averse in HW and SB era, than what they are now, even if they still maintained a rigid patch schedule. This plays a part in why some people were more tolerable of a scheduled that has been established for a decade than what they are now.. In combination with other factors.
Obviously not or this forum wouldn't exist...
Posts are deleted when they are reported and break the rules. The last several posts contained discussion that was against the rules. And considering the post itself was made by Titanmen, it's not surprising.
The forums here in general are a shitfest of doomsayers.
Isn't it funny how the white knights all came out of the woodwork this morning, right after a live letter?
Wonder why?
These forums block you from posting if you quit the game. It's arguably never been a space for genuine criticism. Just an echo chamber full of people happy enough to continue paying. It's remarkable there's this much negative feedback in general, really. People on these forums do seem mad about the state of things, but they're not mad enough to actually walk away. And the actual players in the game continue to jump at every cash grab available, even as the player count tumbles off a cliff and there's nothing to do and no one to do it with. Anyone who's frustrated enough to unsub doesn't even get an exit survey, and if they wait long enough to come here and voice their concerns, they'll find that they're softlocked out of commenting because they haven't logged on in 14 days. Hell, in the past I was banned for 10 days just for criticizing a cash shop outfit. It was my first offense, too.
So yeah, don't be surprised when they go all mask-off and start just deleting posts. They've always been like this. Now they're just louder about it.
He's not going to stop spreading false hysteria. Some people just like to believe they are being persecuted so they see it everywhere.
Personally I came to the forums after the live letter because I was excited about what they announced and was surprised to see this drummed up outrage over criticism being "silenced."
They don't need to silence criticism on this forum. This forum isn't important, no one reads it or cares what happens here except us few forum goers.
We need to check and see if SE was on the USAID dole. If they were that stream of wealth is over...
Yes.
There's a reason they turn off comments on their official YouTube posts. Especially the LL.
In all likelihood they prolly nuked the thread cause someone involved the devs into it. So far from what ive seen you can criticize and shread the hell out of the game and content but they nope the fuck out when SE or its employees are involved into convo negatively...
No, but it breaking the rules does. That it came from a particular poster with a history of making posts that break the rules just makes it all the logical.
At some point, it crosses the line from "caring" to being addicted and/or obsessed to the point that anything not made exactly the way you specifically want becomes "terrible."Quote:
You do realize that you're literally speaking to people that still care and play at least parts of the game, else they'd have left already instance of airing grievances, right?
It's quite telling that a comment like this - in a forum that is absolutely and utterly filled with negativity - gets more "likes" than the people pointing out the absolute deluge of criticism that exists on the forum proving the poster wrong. This is people that are far beyond just "criticizing" or "complaining."Quote:
For real can we not give any criticism at all anymore?
I love how the forum being filled with negativity is apparently the playerbases fault and not the fault of the fact that the game hasn’t had anything worth praising for quite a while
Like when the devs put out good content people praise it (the forum adored HOH and the additions pyros made to the eureka design. Or ShB story, or island sanctuary
Put out good content and the playerbase praises it.
What am I supposed to current praise about the game………um you did a pretty decent job evergreening Bozja? (Should have said that in ShB), the graphics update is pretty nice? (Yeah we praised that 6 months ago)
Do something and the forum may not drown in criticism
8 years of stack, spread, partners, clockwise/ccw, donut, point blank, and slow dilution of job design into nothingness, and people act surprised when the reaction to nothing new is negative.
New encounter design promises for 7.2 but nothing to show for it so far, and people act surprised when the reaction is negative.
Diadem > Eureka > Bozja > Green Bozja, and people act surprised when the reaction to nothing new is negative.
Bland, tedious fate farming as the base of everything since forever, and people act surprised when the reaction to it is negative.
When is the last time this game did new things? CLL/Dalriada? The job gauges in SB? Island Sanctuary (kek)? Variant? Oh right, they innovated in pvp with Crystalline Conflict, my mistake. I admit defeat, it happened only 3 years ago.
The Square Enix team doesn't even seem to understand what innovation actually entails. It does not mean just adding some random things to existing stuff and hoping it works. When they "innovate", they do the barest minimum.
Variant is the prime example of this. People want "branching paths". What did they do? Oh right, they just added THREE LINEAR CORRIDORS in a single instance, and you can choose which linear corridor you can enter at the start of the dungeon.
BRAVO! That's PEAK branching path/non-linear gameplay!
They don't delete Criticism they delete
Racism, Excessive cursing, Harassment, Witch hunting, Stalking, Threats & Religion.
The same as every other company, If your post was deleted it probably broke one of those rules. An easy one to break "Witch Hunting" can be something as simple as saying (X) Person is washed up and should be replaced.
Honestly, it does not always have to be either/or. We could have a solid mix of linear and non-linear instances. Keep things fresh across the board.
With non-linear things, you may develop a fondness of certain paths, for one reason or another. With linear things, its nice to not have to decide.
That's cute when they deleted all those live letter criticisms because it was conveniently in the same thread as someone talking about a plugin. They nuked the entire thread because of two comments talking about a plugin. Oops, *poof* there goes the criticism so the first result on Google Search of the live letter isn't a critique, but WE SWEAR it wasn't because of the criticism!! We had to nuke the entire thread because two comments who interacted with literally no one else talked about a plugin!!
There a conspiracy going on in the forums and the Developers?
Sadly they always have .. and then you get in trouble because someone set you off people just are noticing it more cuz dawntrail but they have been doing this bs for a long time
The fact that this thread is still open disproves its argument.
Your pretty wrong on that. As usual.... there was a thread talking about the worries 7.2 and few of chimmed in on it. Guy had screen shots, info about his views on previous trend of this expansion. Allot ppl were worried for the future of the game, ppl were mad at writers, devs. Someone got spooked by the forum post and deleted it. The comment I made on it was poofed as well sadly.
