MSW Roulette Adjustment

As much as I enjoy leveling jobs in this game, I think the MSQ Roulette is a bit of a slog, and would like more MSQ-related trials to be added, such as Thordan or the Endsinger. I'm just kinda tired of running through the same 2 dungeons (and a raid! Oh boy!) all the time when I want to level jobs.

Imo, there needs to be a vote at the beginning to skip cutscenes or not. If there is legit a party member doing it for the first time they can vote no and it carries on like it does now. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't endsinger and thordan in trial roulette? I don't run it very often so I'm not sure but I agree there should be more msq content in there other than just castrum.

MSQ has no reason to exist anymore now that we have Duty Support.

The EXP and tomestone reward is proportional to the general time investment and cutscene-intensive nature of those duties.

Unless Thordan Normal gets actually rebalanced (item level sync like Endsinger, HP rescaling to counteract potency creep and perhaps giving the fight some mildly zesty mechanics or healing checks), it will never be part of this roulette. Similar but not to the same extreme this applies to Shinryu, Hades and Endsinger.

The fights are simply not nearly as long as the MSQ roulette duties and people would perhaps just hop out if they got the long duties (what people did with Orbonne/Nier raids vs CT raids).

This would just result in people vote-kicking newbies or abandoning the duty if anyone voted not to skip.

Yeah pretty much this. And you'd also have much more people going in with preformed groups rather than solo queuing. But I feel like those 2 dungeons and trial being in the duty support would mitigate those problems for any new people trying to complete MSQ.

I really think that section of ARR should be reworked again. It’s so boring to do MSQ roulette, and I don’t do it any more because I have to just get up and do something else during the cutscenes. That’s not what how I want to be playing a game. If I really want to level up a job I’ll find some other way instead.

Castrum Meridianum and Praetorium shouldn’t be dungeons that have major cutscenes in the middle of them, and Porta Decumana shouldn’t be a trial with an especially long and important cutscene between the phases. I really think it’s not a good idea to have content in this format, and that this should be changed (like how Cape Westwind was made better by turning it into a different type of encounter, as it’s a solo instance now).

When we run roulette (MSQ included), you are getting rewards greater than what the content would normally reward you for completing it. And the rewards are usually scaled based on the time investment. For example, Castrum can be done fairly quickly while Praetorium cannot. Hence why Castrum gives less experience/poetics than Praetorium does. If people are going to vote to skip CS at the beginning, then the rewards would need to be lowered to offset and bring it back into balance.

It doesn't matter what the rewards are, the problem is the content itself.
Unskippable cutscenes are one of the 7 sins of game design.

His point was that as of today people run MSQ roulette for the big XP and poetics bonus which exist only because of the unskippable cinematics so if you allow skipping those cinematics then rewards will be reduced accordingly meaning you can just delete MSQ roulette because no one will have any reasons to do it.

So either people learn patience, buy a steam deck/switch, have a second monitor, have a book, etc... (i could go on) either you should stop doing MSQ roulette and use the other way that exist to XP jobs or farm poetics.

People should focus on more pressing matters the game has than something that is in fact a non issue if you think more than 5 seconds about it on how to solve the problem by yourself.
