The CC preloading screen alone lasts 40s

I checked with a chrono. The loading cutscene for every game of CC takes about 40s to unfold. It is unskippable as well (but some people have found ways to bypass it apparently, which doesn't change anything since they're stuck waiting for everybody else anyway). Also it's a duty, by its nature you need everybody to confirm before starting the duty, which can take up to 50s if someone clicks at the last moment. Then you have a black screen that can take 5s or 10s depending on the server's mood and people's specs, then the cutscene (40s). Then finally, another black screen of 5s, and the pregame being set to 30s.

When you add all of this, you end up with more than 2 full whooping minutes not actually playing, for games that will last on average 5min or a bit more, 10min for longer ones. This means that of the total time spent for a single duty, all players will spend potentially 20 to 40% of the time twiddling their thumbs. Imagine this, over 100 games, you'll potentially spend 3 hours just watching the loading cutscene and waiting for loading times, and I haven't even talked about the post game score board that takes ages to show up and do its little rank animation, that inconveniently also overtakes the focus away from you when you're just trying to spam leave the game faster. It feels like every time I'm not actually playing the mode, I'm constantly fighting for the game to hurry the heck up and move on to the next.

I do believe a lot of this fat can be trimmed because it's just flashy, and while it looks nice, pve doesn't even do that.

1) We need ranked to skip the loading cutscene and just show the teams during the pregame like for pve instances. We can skip dungeon loading cutscenes so why not the pvp ones, especially in ranked? We're not playing ranked to watch intro cutscenes. Just show the roster with the two teams in a banner at the top of the screen during the pregame.

2) We need to cut down the pregame loading times in ranked by half, bring them down to 15s or even 20s. We're literally going mad waiting for 30s in that cage every damn game.

3) Remove the penalty for missing a queue in ranked, this brings literally nothing to the game, doesn't punish anything since players will still be queued and it will pop with the next player anyway. Why is this even a thing? If someone misses a queue for whatever reason, they're out of ranked for the next 30min and it can be the difference between a game or no game during that time if no more than 10 players are queued up.

4) Allow us to view the scoreboard AFTER the games if we want to. Allow us to leave the instance immediately without having to preload the duty menu to blitz click on leave before the board loads up... And leaving too fast can actually count you as forfeiting the game (i've seen it happen).

Next pvp season is opening soon and this will still be a gigantic pain in the ass.

And that makes it unworthy of mentioning? If you enjoy losing 5 hours of your life in each ranked season when the system could just skip cutscenes like in pve dungeons, you do you I guess?

I'm bumping this because this is getting old after thousands of games. I don't even want to calculate the total amount of time lost in those loading screens and end game scoreboards forcing themselves on me.

even when just casually grinding the season pass in cc, all the waiting times felt horrible xD

In unranked the games last like 1 to 5 mins and having a 1-2 min wait inbetween every game (with "instant" queues) sucks

The amount of waiting is very excessive. It causes a lot of people to alt tab out from the game and then they miss the first 10~ seconds of the match sometimes. I blame the devs for this more then the players that tab out, because the prematch wait time is ridiculous.

Just quickly display both team's portraits at the same time and then do a 5 second countdown and start the match. There really is no reason for it to take so long.

The wait for frontline is also bad. Why wait 45 seconds to get in? It will start even if not everyone clicks. The start to the match is wasted time as well. No one talks, someone might hit a macro. Just start the game.

In my experience this season so far, a lot of my games are very one-sided often ending in under 3 minutes. So this actually feels a lot worse.

Just for reference, I started unranked and played through crystal ranked games so far this season and the one-sided games still persist even at the highest ranks of play.

2 minutes of waiting around for 2 minutes games sometimes. It just feels really bad.

Honestly wouldn't hate if they just ditched the panning shot of the arena and just showed a top-down of the arena while the player-cards popped in but also have both sets shown for slightly longer than a singular set. Would cut down on time pretty nicely.

I feel like the only reason warmup time ever existed was because we had chat during the glory 2.x / 3.x times, and were able to talk about strategies/memes at the start and potentially write a macro with a username of someone from the enemy party (before we got e1,e2 etc. macro identifier and before server visit changed their names with a server tag - u could still type them for macros). There were also buffs to pick from boxes, and you had to decide who gets them. Warmup time was 1min even I think and it was alright.

Now we do not have free chat anymore for some reason.
In current PvP, I also wouldn't know what to say, because there is not much reason to make a strategy...Too dumbed down and RNG heavy mode.
We also do not have buff boxes anymore.
So all reasons why warmup time was good to have, are gone.

It was even worse for The Fold, because those matches were over in 30s.

I guess what they could do.... possibility to skip the player cards in options + a ready check. Once everyone loaded, there is a ready check - once all players agree, the match starts in 5s.

And 4) would be solved by allowing duty record in PvP automatically for e.g. the last 5 matches. And/Or having the already existing team match history added with the scoreboard, for a single character match history too. Would be much easier to detect cheaters and wintraders that way as well.



But let's face it, it is not gonna happen unless JP screams at them, big changes only happen after an addon - and mostly they seem to redo the whole fking system instead of fixing the existing. Feast was finally in a good state and they scrapped it the next months lol idk man - the decision making is just outside of this world. (Not saying CC is not fun by itself...Or that the reward system has improved compared to before, with upgraded hellhound weapons etc. - some feedback got listen to I guess)
I said it before, when you unlock Sage/Reaper for PvP - it had all the Feast skills on your hotbar, they had Sage 'Feast Ready' they haven't thought about CC one bit at that point lol - so some poor guy in development wasted his time designing PvP skills that never saw the light of day. The same guy could have taken a day on forums, read your feedback and implement it with the next big addon patch - instead have you ever seen 1 dev response to PvP feedback here? xD Why are the community mods so disconnected from what the devs think about the topic? Or not allowed to share things or simply are not allowed to know? Or the worse option, the devs want to change it, but are not allowed.

What I think it goes like:
Q: Player want to spend less time loading into a match in PvP, should we remove playercards?
A: No, we actually like them for official tournaments, makes it look more professional, they have to stay. They are also cute for the 1 match I play every Sunday once in a month and when I present PvP in a live letter it looks good.

Then keep them for custom (tournament) matches, and remove them from Ranked....duuuh

Not just preloading screen but death screen is also notoriously bad. Like you have to wait when you first die, then timer pops up... then once its gone you wait at a black loading screen which sometimes can take a WHILE. Then you raise up and you're finally good to go. Oh and if overtime comes, your death counter gets pushed by 2-3+ more seconds. So enjoy more waiting.

I have a suspicion this is hiding a loading screen but I agree that I rather just have the cards and go straight into the match.
