2.0 Idea Buy Airships

Had a thought for the players who claim they have millions & millions of gil for 2.0!
In 2.0 they should let you buy your own personalised airship, obviously its just a novelty thing that would have a cut scene or something of you piloting it & you get free air fares from 1 city to another + maybe an achievement, or pilots hat.

They could even let you pick a 3rd return to any city as well. Could even have a 1 off map only accessable via buying 1.

Just a thought i had, dont care if they like it or not because im broke in game :mad:

Oooohhhhhhhhh. I like this idea. If it had 'back door' access from my Inn (or my House) that would be great. And if it was a bit more like 'classical' Airships / Boat. I.e.:

1) In house -- summon my airship!
2) In airship -- walk around, enjoy the view.
3) Select the destination
4) Finally get dropped off

I would pay a handsome coin for this ^.^; And I think it would not be too difficult to implement.

I would prefer to have an airship (or ship) to pilot myself. :p

i prefer the idea of LS/company airship and while controlling it you get the classic overhead view
will be useful for going to events..ect

I'd prefer a permit to craft one.

Why buy it? Give us some recipes to make it ourselves^^

I'd definitely be all for player/company owned airships. Even if the extent of piloting it was selecting a destination on the map from a list I'd be fine, as long as we can walk around inside of it.

Heck, if so required; I will pillage, loot, and massacre at will to obtain the necessary gil. Yep, and Legatus Van Baelsar would wet his breeches when he sees me rollup in this...

Personally I'd see making airships as a group based activity, however if certain (rich) people could buy airships that were made by players then it would open up some good market oppurtunities. ;)

Like was rightly said in this thread, players WILL spend that gil... be it extravagantly, prudently, or generously. I spent a good chunk of funds on my mog house in FFXI because I could definitely afford to... when you're in an efficient HMNLS, it gets to a point where you start making an obscene amount of gil.

Plus my Moogle threatened to Mijin Gakure if I didn't make his life "posh"...besides, it was great to have your friends visit your spiffy Mog house and have them jump with muddy shoes all over your bed. Yep.

What might be cool is if you could lease airships for a certain amount of gil (lets just say 1 mil/day) and could make money based off of how many people rode your airship that day (lets say 10% of total gil made that day).

Yeah I was thinking about this a while ago when I was bored at work

Maybe certain air ships can go certain places.
Crystals / Shards for fuel or have alchemists craft fuel
Crafters could make parts
Player controlled could go where you want
Could bring friends
Cheaps ones and billion gil air ships for the elite
Airship dock to see everyone elses boat
Hire-able NPC crew

oh man I could go on for days
