I can hear Lallafel under the ground, whole cities of them

I was at Little Solace near Komuxio, checking my next soul draining set of zodiac weapon objectives, and in about 2 minutes saw 12 Lallafel's literally pop out the ground and go back inside it.

They called me mad, but there ARE Lallafel beneath us! whole cities of them, planning another calamity no doubt.

(Bots in this game are nuts, I'm convinced they come off the conveyor belt faster than Miqo'te girls)

I reported a load of them under Gridania's aetheryte and they were close enough to trigger player culling...I reported it and a GM contacted me abit after, few days later I never saw them in the same spot... (They were above ground but under the wooden platform funny enough)

I know if you leave idle camera on you might eventually end up on a bot under the ground.

this has been a thing since the launch of 2.0 botters have always used lalas for some reason, back in the day they were in the open you would see hundreds of them teleporting around turning in quests and killing monsters, as the ban hammer started to fall it seemed as if the botter where gone except they simply switched to using tools that allowed them to keep doing what they were doing except now they were under the map so it became alot harder to report them since you cant see their names anymore

i thought this type of botting had come to an end but i guess its still a thing

Sometimes I ask myself if people actually want to play this game or just hack/cheat/bot or buy (sellers will most likely use hacks themselves) whatever title or glam only to look cool for the weekend house parties which seem to be the main selling point nowadays.

A quick google search will show you that people are literally asking for freaking Mahjong and Verminion hacks, so I don’t wanna know what the actual game content looks like.

Doesn't the Mahjong in the game literally tell you what to do? I haven't dabbled in it much myself since the horrors of Yakuza so I'm not entirely certain
Verminion itself is rather simple, some minions will just carry you lol
iirc Wind-up Gentleman and Wind-up Kojin are pretty good

They're moving the continental plates.

I saw about another 10 since writing that, but now you mention it I've seen some go through the Gridania aetherite plaza and thought it was some connection/lag issue. Also saw one leave the Gridania entrance into Central Shroud and disappear each time, all makes sense now. I also see them under that giant Central Shroud tree that leads to West Central Shroud, standing awkwardly on a wooden scaffold talking to the quest NPC. (It's funny it's hard to write all that without sounding like I'm on milkroot)

Good call with the idle camera, I saw one underground doing this which was trippy, they zipped off who knows where.

A lot of the bots I've seen in East Shroud only train bard strangely (whole clumps of the bots will be the same level with the same odd 4 letter 2 part names, which makes it look like the same person/group are doing it). Maybe its to sell them to people that want to make bands? I guess that wouldn't really harm the game, I like the bands you see in cities.

But if people are AFK farming to sell on the market board, that would suck for the economy and real players. Especially competitive game hacks. I tried Verminion once thinking it'd be like that old school Pokemon on the gameboy, but it seemed pretty involved so didn't spend much time on it. I feel bad for those that put a lot of effort into it, only to lose to a bot software.

That actually might be the munching of the tall giraffe ones nibbling on their crackers and drinking their tea. Some say their chewing can be mistaken for the tapping of tiny Lalafell sized footsteps. Though, that could be an old Ul'dahn Lalafell tale. You know how those ones can be. >3>

There've been spider-clusters of lalabots under Limsa for years and nothing's been done about it. The people in charge of this game don't seem to care.

They been there since the dawn of time, sometimes one or two get banned but SE wont solve anything for the brighter picture, not like the economy is good anyway, gil is literally worthless

Instead of children of the corn it's lalas of the shroud.

I wonder how much sub money these bots are paying the game. I mean they’ve always got so many characters stacked together the surely must have at least 2-3 accounts, right? Is that how it works?

Maybe SE refuses to do anything about them because of the potential revenue loss lol

Someone will quote you and say they don't, but that's incorrect. They do. In fact even paying for multiple accounts is nothing for them since they make a lot more money back from selling gil. Those accounts don't get banned faster than they can trade or farm.
This is one of the reasons why some players online have a conspiracy theory that SE wouldn't completely cull the botters/farmers even if they wanted to. They like the sub money. So you're not far off.

However at least until a while ago a lot of the farmer accounts (not the traders) would have chargeback, which led to the big list of throwaways SE is always bragging about ever so often. So not all of them are actually giving them money.

I have reported them in Mor Dhona, they pop out of the ground, kill everything and then disappear only to do it again and again.. I recorded about a hour of them doing it over and over again, with their names, etc and reported them without a trace.. some time later I was in that area again, and they were still at it.. SE don't want to ban the bots, the bots are giving them money in subs... If SE REALLY wanted to do something about it they could, with the pictures, videos and reports they get from everyone that cares about it, they would have enough to ban them.

It's sad to see other games take botting more seriously than SE.. I guess SE is more concerned about the money than the bots... :/

Pretty sure the Z axis didn't actually exist in a lot of ARR zones until recently. Kind of hard to implement a check for a variable that isn't in the game in the first place.

That being said, WoW can and will automatically disconnect you for existing under the map. I found out because I found a literal square hole in the ground in the spooky BFA version of Vale of Eternal Blossoms a couple years back. Flew right in there while mounted thinking "wow blizzard's QA team must suck if they left this thing in, let's go exploring", and immediately got sent to the login screen.

Nowadays... yeah. SE needs to step it up.

Yesterday I saw a column on Lalafell's go underground at mother Miounne's reception desk in Gridania. It was funny because I stood right behind one in first person and locked onto them, and the arrow showed they went quite far down then teleported (though I guess that building has 2 floors). WoW sounds like they have the right idea in disallowing players under the terrain, and from what I've seen of the maps in FFXIV, they are well made/air tight, I've never found anywhere glitchy or holes in terrain.

The amount of these bots is honestly ridiculous, it seems SE have no countermeasure. Maybe as some suggested SE make some money from bot subscriptions and don't really want them to go way.
