Do se just not want money or something?

Been asking this for years but it's crazy. The company is going under and there's so many things we've been asking for like. More boss or npc glam on mog. More hairstyles, more glam and even a kh or ff7 crossover. Like why are they not doing these things. If gaias outfit was 4 piece and ungendered it would have completely flown off the shelves just for those boots. I really want yunas and lightnings outfits unlocked.

And why isn't there more ff costumes on the mogstore? I want sephiroths coat.. yunas gunner attire. I want kingdom hearts org 13 member weapons for 14. Like there are ppl out there meeting this demand and even getting paid for it... so what's going on at se for real. There's such a literal goldmine of options for this game but is it genuinely more profitable to just release scraps every half a year instead.

I think it was at dev panels or one of the blogs that they mentioned NPC glam is difficult sometimes, because it's designed specifically for the NPC and sometimes when they put it on the mog station it's after extensive adjustment to make it work for player models.

As for there being more costumes, most likely the people who work on that are interested in your suggestion since they seem to make stuff they think will make money, like they did with Cloud's bike for example.

As far as hairstyles and glam go, they do make these and also said they are making more rewards in Dawntrail.

They said they don't want to do a FF7 crossover until FF7R is done so that they don't interrupt the great work they are doing over there.

As far as SE not wanting money goes, it's pretty true that they don't chase it too much (due to the whole "play other games" thing). But that can be a good thing to an extent, because chasing it too much leads to people resenting a company.

square as a company have a good relationship with disney and disney as a company want as much money as they can get. people always claim disney wont OK this, but the reality is disney would okay and not only that but disney doesn't own sora, riku and kairi. they only own there own characters and a joint IP of KH. they have no say in what nomura does with his own characters

he does own Sora yes just look at super smash bros howuch it took for them to just get Sora in I don't say I don't want a KH crossover honestly I would be up for it any day haha.

but Disney as much as you might say that have the last say into it even Yoshi P spoke about that crossover in a live letter I think it was durinh Endwalker and why he wouldn't do it because of Disney

When we're talking about a company as large as Square Enix struggling, we're talking about income amounts in the tens of billions of yen (tens of millions of dollars). There just aren't enough FFXIV players interested in spending additional real money on fake video-game boots to cover for the problems the company as a whole is facing. You're extrapolating from a relatively tiny amount of people on forums asking for these things, and, I think, drastically overestimating how far any monetary gain from this would go to helping stabilize the company.

if monetization wasnt such a big revenue supply then please explain the success of gatcha games like honkai and genshin. and why every eastern game is littered with in store purchases. please explain the 400$ meagre quality figures, the countless ingame bonuses for SE store items and the never ending supply of merch. if they put a keyblade in the mogstore tonight i guarantee you ud see easily half of limsa in every server with 1.

They want the money, but they just don't want to do extra work for it.

There aren't enough invested players willing to spend money on microtransactions because the target demographic for FFXIV is people who buy every expansion + 1 month subscription, play only the MSQ and then unsub and uninstall for 3 years.

I'm getting real tired of watching SE continually take the profits from their successful ventures and dump them into doomed bad ideas instead of reinvesting into the successful projects. It's like watching a deadbeat dad with a gambling problem ruin his family's lives.

They’d still have to actually model the outfits probably which ofc would just be far too much work for poor indie developer SE lol. You’ll take your £18.99* Mount recolours and you will like them

Genshin has an estimated 60,000,000 monthly players. FFXIV has maybe 5% percent of that. The mobile industry has been dramatically larger and more profitable than non-mobile for a lot of years now. It's not 2003 anymore.

i asked the exact same qzestion but about the merch in the online store.

the stuff they put there is either massively overpriced and you have to think twice if you wanna buy it or its just cheap junk what i dont wanna have

there would be so much potential in ff14 merch. alone all those nice artworks they barely do anything with...

Disney actually owns every KH original characters. After the first KH there was deal made with Disney, so disney owns KH (Disney Interactive developped by SE). That's why things like KH Vcast or that cancelled KH multiplayer game project (Fragmented keys) that existed at a time, without SE involvment. Litterally, the only thing that is not owned by Disney is the cameo SE characters, nothing else.

Disney just doesn't know what to do with KH. It's not something that align with how they market themselves.

That said, give me the Dagger orange jumpsuit, and I'll probably buy it (it would have been an insta buy a few month ago).

It takes time and money to develop those assets, especially when they have to consider every race
That and I'm not sure how easily they can just pull from other final fantasy games

I somewhat recall a possible FF7 collab being teased though, but it'd have to wait until after the FF7 remake finishes whenever that is

Honestly they could make some pretty cool collab weapons
For Viper specifically, it'd be nice to see Oblivion and Oathkeeper used together (that and I think more 'mismatched' weapons would be cool. It's a shame the FRU one doesn't do light/dark like that)

Paladin's could get Goofy's shield
Black Mages could get Donald's staff
Dancer gets Axel's chakrams
etc.

Depending on how much effort is put in, and how much they are allowed to use, it could be comparable to the Yo-kai Watch event.

A bit off topic but the last outfit they released came out as unisex with both dye channels, so hopefully future ones will follow that same standard

On the other hand, it seems they've realized they can sell the outfit/hairstyle/weapon individually and probably get more sales from people wanting the whole set for a lack of a bundled option. If they continue down that route, I'd like them to include a bundle for people who want all pieces, or at least calculate how much someone is buying from a specific set and then discounting that price appropriately.

However I think we all know how that's going to go down

This company isn't going under it has 2 large cash horses that print endless money.

Plenty of people pay a sub just to post on these forums. They're already getting your money. They are literally going to release a mobile version of XIV and are cashing in on FF7R. People throw money at this company without a thought constantly. The evidence is the release of these products yearly.

We get that you're upset at XIV right now. But it's not really going to go anywhere at all and will still be here a few years from now and all of us that play the game are going to be doing the same thing as always. Complaining on the forums about how there's no content to do when we've done all of it. Guess we just wait until next patch or quit. You have choices.

We can reliably assume that SE is making plenty of money, because they haven't pushed the VII crossover panic button yet.

We'll know its the 11th hour for FFXIV and SE when that happens--that's probably the only reason it hasn't dropped yet, they're saving it for when it's absolutely needed. Until then, FFXIV remains the cash cow whose teat is squeezed regularly to fund garbage fire projects.

I certainly don't feel my wallet loosening under the modern attire sets being released, despite it fitting into the Alexandria theme. Not my thing.
I'm also not keen on seeing the quick cash-grab projects that Square siphons money into away from FFXIV and then seeing those flop, like the Chocobo-GP game ended up as an example. Makes me trust Square even less to have the interests of a gamer at heart and condition me to expect any content of FFXIV to get squeezed out for 'the next big gamble'.
They also seem to be banking on the mobile-version to pick up the slack, since a lot of mobile-players are much looser with their wallets (and if they don't make transactions a one-tap convenience I will be most certainly surprised) but not exclusively. I would like the game to be packed full of more content to do, however the drip-feed DT has been giving make foreshadow the years to come. Gold Saucer 2.0 being recreated in the Living Memory zone to make use of the carnival dungeon, party mini-games that you can queue into like the events at the Gold Saucer, more things we can find fun in and enjoy doing aside from Hunts and raids. It would be nice, but I don't see that happening. I don't know the future, though, so I'm open to being wrong and being blessed with fun.

Imagine an Attack on Titan or LoL crossover! Meeting Aurelion Sol in space or getting AoT glamour and stuff. People would love it I guess.

Actually, Disney in fact does own KH along with Square. Even the original characters of KH are a joint ownership deal.
Disney had to give the okay in order for Sora to appear in Smash.

In general though, a collab only works if the generated income of said collab outweighs the potential costs such a collab takes in order to make happen, otherwise it's not worth the dev time period. Most of FF14's collabs have occurred because the other IP is a wholly owned Square property (dragon quest, FF11, ff13, FF16, NIER(?)), Yoshi-P has been friends with the other guy (Makai, Yo-kai!), one of the devs from the other company is a fan of FF14 and approached Yoshi-P in order to make it happen (Monster Hunter). I.E, all very cheap or no cost to setup collabs.

If KH was ever a collab in FF14, Disney would almost certainly be expecting some sort of monetary expectation. The issue is that unless the collab was purely nothing but mogstation items, the monetary gain of people subbing back for the event likely wouldn't cover the cost Disney would even ask for, or Square would have to give up too much profit that it'd be a net negative. KH would likely only ever see a collab if Square somehow managed to convince Disney to approve it for free.

As far as stuff like FF7, timing is a very important thing when it comes to collabs. They're like discounts - you release them when you want to maximize sales by targetting specific crowds at specific times. Releasing an FF7 collab now would realistically only marginally boost sales of the FF7R games since they're old and not much hype is going around them. However, releasing a collab like that when the 3rd game comes out would systematically hit far harder in terms of performance, since not only is the collab rolling off the hype generated by a new game release, it would also boost sales of previous games on top due to the new game coming to end the trilogy so players will be more likely to buy all three games to play the full experience if they hadn't touched it before.

There is a ton of nuance to these things. Trust me from my own time working in the video game industry, these companies don't just hold stuff for the lulz. No for-profit company would actively deny free money, unless it believed it could make more more by taking a different choice. They understand there's a time and place to make sure release of such stuff hits the absolute hardest and maximizes profits when they do release stuff like it.

not gonna lie tho if they release a ff7 event I would do it just for the item I think that ff7 is overrated and is the charizard of SE
