Treasure Maps in a bad place (Timeworn Br'aaxskin Specifically)

I go through periods of running maps and have noticed that less and less parties get advertised, I can't even remember when I last saw a PF listing for maps and whenever I suggest doing them to anyone its "No point, barely get portals, just depressing".

The Portal / Room Advancement Chance / Loot Rate combination is basically killing off any reason to do maps at all.

Did 50 maps today to test what kind of state these are in.

Number of Portals: 18
Number of times gotten past room two: 5
Number of times gotten to final room: 0
Number of Figmental Weapon Coffer: 0
Number of Corduroy Felt: 0

If you look at the marketplace the listings for coffers the demand and supply are both decreasing, basically maps are not being run.

Please give us a reason to do this content again.

I can only relate to my experience in Endwalker. Tbh, I found the Endwalker version of the maps to have portals very often but sometimes you'd get a day where hardly any of them did.

I agree that getting to the last room is pretty rare. That's why the content only really works if you see it as a regular social content. A time to chat with your friends while doing something totally braindead in the background.

Eventually, that thing in the background gets the last room and its loot.

In Endwalker I just duo'd the maps. Only needed 1 other person because of factors like tanks being able to survive on their own and heal their DPS friend. So that could be part of why as well.

Yeah, its not great. We run them every couple weekends as an FC group, and its just not fun seeing few portals, fewer advancement, and even less loot.

Semi-related, but my roommates and I were running the lvl 70 moogle maps/Gazelleskins a while back, and we kept getting the stupid roulette portals. I don't remember if it's still supposed to be 50/50 on the roulettes/normal door maps or if they changed the rates but the roulette maps are so much worse in terms of gil and are barely worth the effort. The level 80 maps have the same issue, and we just gave up running those because the enemies are so much spongier thanks to how the stat squish affected ShB content.

I only know about 5 people personally who do maps at all and every single one of them thinks that 7.1 had a rate stealth nerf on the Coffer introduction.

The rates are more like 30/70 or even 20/80 on level 70 maps. It desperately needs changing to 50/50.
I am currently at a ratio of 17 canals to 66 altars from portals.

No one wants to run Br'aaxskin maps, yeah. I've had way better luck getting people to show up for any maps but those.

Also add another way to get the coffers
These things are absurdly expensive just because of how repetitive and rng the source is

It's revenge for how high Excitatron's clear rate was. 3 hours yesterday, never made it past the fourth room. 0% clear rate.

If rates were not so terrible on the maps, then they wouldn't cost what they do.

On my world coffers about 11 mil, maps fluctuate so safe to say its about 200 maps worth of gil. Cheaper to buy the weapon than do the maps with rates as they are.

I did about 500 braxskin maps, got ~250 portals, 200 times room 2, 120 times room 3, 60 times room 4, 30 times room 5

the rates are the same that I observerd when doing 1k+ lvl 80 and 90 maps. If you dont have portals then its just bad luck. Sometimes I get 10 portals in 10 maps, its pure rng

I'm curious how many coffers came out of those 500 maps, if you remember ?

IMO chances aside, maps are already limited enough, portals should always spawn.

And oddly enough, the same user is selling figment coffer after figment coffer on the MB on my server day after day, multiple listings. As someone who has yet to even see one drop, this is a clear problem with drop rate and MB. This person is either running maps all day every day to sell coffers, buying from other servers and reselling, or cheating. If my experience with the MB is anything, then probably a gil farming bot user with 46 fc houses. They control that item on the MB entirely. The in game market along with the drop rates are pathetic in this game. Especially since DT and I can rarely sell anything on the MB anymore due to these people. And get a weapon coffee to drop? Yea okay. I can't even win the minion in the alliance raid with two consecutive weekly runs of a 96 and 97 rolled on it.

You guys are getting portals?

Not many. And my FC made it to the final room 2 times and nothing dropped of value. Nothing. Zero. Waste of time.

Aside from the poor odds, I also think that the "fights" themselves are really, really boring too. It's just waves of uninteresting trash packs that pose no threat whatsoever.

Damn. Quite a rant just because you're going dry on the coffer. Someone who has multiple listings, according to you, is:

A reseller (just hop to another server if this is the case lol)
A cheater
A bot user
Owner of 46 fc houses
Preventing you from selling on the market board (people like them)
Responsible for you losing a 24 minion roll

You should probably log out for a bit. You're clearly irrationally angry.

Portal odds haven't changed btw. Bad RNG and going dry happens. My maps still have the same general portal frequency. My excel tracking sheet (totally not a plugin btw) confirms this.

RNG of the portal, RNG of the room, RNG of the drop, RNG of the roll. What fun!

Really would like a scaled-up version of these with higher odds for everything but needs say 4 people to realistically do it instead of solo possible, duo blitz.

Make maps an actual viable group activity since we don't really have anything social at the moment from DT to do.

Yoshi-P has stated he wanted to reduce the amount of gil in XIV economy, and he blamed treasure maps as a source even though that's not remotely true. It would not be a stretch to assume he had the success rate tanked to 'fix' what he viewed as generating too much gil.

Nearly every piece of endgame content can be automated. FFXIV is the only MMO that openly allows people to bot and automate content like this. And because this is FFXIV, nothing will happen.

Maps are one of the few ways that casual players can get spare gil. It’s an equal opportunity time investment, which of course is why Yoshida doesn’t like it. FFXIV is no longer for the casual player, it’s for the hardcore player that progs raids on Christmas and has shell FCs with subs. Yoshida will never, EVER do anything about real gil farming.

It’s on the low side but sometimes RNG can be good. We got 3x room 5 in 10 maps the other day. To me, the biggest issue with the current maps aside from extremly low chances to see a coffer or decent loot (have not seen a coffer in 252 maps and the amount of gil is low), is how every fight in the first 4 rooms is pure trash mobs that do nothing. At least EW had different bosses and even though they were easy, it made them less monotonous.

There was a dude on YouTube who made a goal to buy every minion in the game that was listed on the market boards, but he wasn't allowed to farm for those minions. He needed to make 250 million gil in order to make that goal. What was his method of making gil? Soloing B'raxskin maps as a WAR and selling the coffers.

It might have been that guy.

If you spend 2-3 h of your afternoon and your whole party got merely some minor rewards, but also not even enough rewards for everyone, then it feels like you wasted a good afternoon. The gameplay does not exist. The rewards do not exist. The joy does not exist.

Yes, you get some gil. No, it does not make up for it. This is why I don't run maps. It's not gambling for coffers, it's gambling with my limited lifetime. Please, SE, do not waste my personal time with this poor "content".

I'd personally rather farm the weapons than buying them from MB, but the chances to get a weapon are so low, I'd rather not.

Making older maps always give a portal would give a reason to ever go to do the old ones at all

My FC stopped running treasure maps because of how bad the rng to even enter has become. In a time where it's one of the only things to do, it's a shame.

Groups that I used to do multi-hour map run sessions with (FC or other) basically just dissolved because of the extremely bad RNG.

Im guessing they'll add another map later with better odds, even maybe zone specific like in EW.

Portals appear often enough and loot is irrelevant when you're sitting on hundreds of millions of gil, but when there are achievements for clearing 20 times and the last door/spin always fails, it invalidates any time and effort put into this content. Especially when it's tailored to being party content--parties that typically wait for 8 people, move incredibly slowly, and feel the need to type "aw shucks" whenever a door closes like they haven't seen it thousands of times already. Like we aren't aware that it's a bad thing. And some of these people somehow have multiple clears in fewer attempts than you. Both they and the game are actively mocking you for accomplishing nothing. It is effectively the worst content next to PvP because there is a nonexistent guarantee of success (despite having clear achievements). In this case, you're fighting against an unknown factor.

Br'aaxskin maps, at least right now, might as well be ran solo as each room only takes 5 minutes to clear (the other dungeon is about 9-10) and you're spending most of that time playing the game rather than tabbing out every 20 seconds waiting for people. And if there's a nonzero chance of the game giving loot when you solo, it's yours, which may pique your interest considering all the parties now are FFA.

They should make these for light party and then have them scale up to full party. More brain dead content. They aren't even fun socially. Most discord groups of I've run these with they've done it 100 times. They are only there for the gill, and it's like noone else is playing the game. Noone is paying attention. Not even for the 1,2,3,4,etc adds. Can't blame them. They can do it in their sleep, and it's not interesting to them.

My group gave up on it too. We had 2 figment weapons after so many runs, barely any portals spawned and if they did, we got the boot after the first room most of the time. Just not worth the time and effort.

Map drop rates are fine. What is not fine is that they've been reskinning the same "2 doors" treasure map dungeon since the dawn of time. Can we please get something new?

The coffer's going to be a mogtome item in a few years if they're willing to put the magicked bed on there

We might get Savage difficulty treasure maps next time, considering how the chaotic alliance raid is designed, which I initially thought would be equivalent to Extreme difficulty.

how is it 1000? you got 4 weapons in 122 maps. That makes 244 maps, if you get 1 out of 8 drops

You would earn more than enough gil to outright buy the coffer off the AH well before 1k maps.

Portal/doors are 50% no question.

So without guaranteed portal there is a 3.1% chance to get 5th floor. 6.2% with special map.

Basically in a full 8 player, 3 map run there is a 50% chance to get 5th floor.

Odds of not hitting 5th floor = 1-(1/2)^5
maps = 24

(Odds of not hitting 5th floor)^(maps)=0.466

So 54% chance to get a 5th floor in 24 maps. Odds become 80% if you run only guaranteed portal maps.

You need 11 guaranteed portal maps for a 50% odds of 5th floor.
