I've been wanting a bard in WoW for a while, that and player housing in 12.0 will probably be what gets me to permanently switch back given the current state of XIV.
same, i remember people asking for bard as far back as lich king this is a common request on the forums (or atleast it used to be i dont visit them forums anymore)
thems fightin words, nothin in this world can get me to return to that game
Feel sorry for AST in WoW, cant picture it with those 1/2 assed fugly WoW effects, but BRD works and really should have been a thing ages ago...
Honestly, as much as I've made my bed and never joining WoW again or giving blizzard a dime of my money, after playing from nearly the start of the game to before the start of Shadowlands. Even before it was found out, that the devs sniff chairs, steal breastmilk and made fruitbowl paintings out of all the even remotely scantily clad paintings and added an extra layer of clothing to all their female characters in the story. (punishing your playerbase because your devs can't keep it in their pants, gg, still a classic)
WoW went downhill with their lore, story and direction. But I hear they are on the rise, even if the lore and story, or world can never be fixed for me personally.
I hope it thrives, and hoovers as many players as possible. If Square doesn't listen to their own playerbase, maybe they will listen to some honest competition.
I hope their player housing and new classes thrive.
Regardless what Blizzard is trying, i will never come back.
they are really coming in for FFXIV's throat aren't they. 2 jobs that will appeal to ff players and the infamous player housing. i think thats it for FF tbh. if they cant innovate., they're done for. now im aware theres speculation its clickbait, but even if it is. the plyer housing alone just might finish XIV off. people are no longer excited for ff. theyre trapped and endlessly waiting the next best thing. eventually they'll find it and they'll leave. or they'll be stuck in this games familiarity forever, and be all alone in there bubble.
if you never give something a chance to get better. its trapped in the past, unable to grow improve or change. makes me wonder if the game is the one trapped in the past at that point
a company isnt a person. its a product producer. and you shouldn't deny yourself the chance to enjoy a product because of past company decisions. in the end you're the one who looses out by forging paper alliances. if wow looks good. your sub isn't sinful to give to them. be proud that you enjoy a product they make. and that is ll the validation you will ever need
WoW Bard would not be from FFXIV, it reads more like Minstrel in Lord of the Rings Online. Bard in LotRO was more of a Shouter than a Player of music. It may have gotten better over the last 5 years. I've only seen footage on Youtube after 2020.
Astrologian is also not from FFXIV, although it bears the same name. It is definitely not a healer class. It's more like that end boss in WoW that was going to 'reset' Azeroth and has more in common with the Celestial Steed than Astrologian in this game.
Microsoft/Blizzard has a number of jobs described in the video (Tinker is like the Engineer profession, except with mechs instead of exploding sheep). Because of this, I wouldn't say that Blizzard/Microsoft is going for anyone's throat. At best they might hope that name recognition might spike some interest, at least until you find out the particulars and go "um, no".
tl;dw: Blizzard sent players a survey floating ideas for potential future classes, bard and something astrological among them. Don't get rused into wasting time on a near 16 minute video from Bellular.
Can we quote this for posterity in 10 years?Quote:

I'm biased because I love bestial/monster races in games, but they aren't that bad.
Sure, they look kinda like someone's DeviantArt OC, and they definitely could have given us something cooler (imagine if there were playable dragon whelps like Wrathion), but they also could have given us another flavor of human.
I've never played WoW but I welcome XIV getting its old rival back to put some fire underneath the dev team's butt. ꉂ (´∀`)ʱªʱªʱª
The problem is that coming from WoW its somewhat hard to give it "another chance" after 2 ill received expansions (BFA -> Shadowlands) were ppl very early in the beta of Shadowlands warned about there Covenants system not being balanced and ultimately had to admit this well after launch. Which just felt like people were ignored.
Not to mention the slap in the face to lore nerds doing the character Arthas dirty and after decades of worldbuilding from WC3 just to cop-out to it was the Jailer all along did not help. It gives the impression that Blizz just doesn't care about there lore and worldbuilding any more.
This new class survey however did pique my interest slightly but knowing that they want to make "all races all classes" still kinda turns me off. Since unlike FFXIV were jobs are really just adventurer jobs anyone can recruit into, WoW classes are more steeped in specific racial cultures, so much that certain combos just seem too absurd with context to how certain races interact with specific magic forces, such as Shamanism, Paladins/The Light and the Fel.
