As someone who is playing CC ranked for the first time

My biggest grievances with CC after about 200 matches:

1. Matchmaking is hot garbage. It really is.
2. Excessive crowd control.
3. A few jobs are extremely OP while others are "solid" or weak in comparison.
4. There are no incentives for players to improve, many of them get carried by luck via matching with people who actually can play the game. No one even checks their stats at the end of the game to see their dps, damage taken, etc. They just move on to the next game because, who would blame them, they are relying on the next team being the "good" one that will carry them, so why bother checking their stats and that of their team mates.

PvP is in need of very urgent fixes

Yeah the problem with OP jobs is that it's not one job (which would already be annoying) but enough to fill several if not all slots on a team so that playing the job you actually enjoy becomes almost impossible if you want to go anywhere.

If just one job was op/"mandatory" then that would still leave 4 team slots for a variety of compositions. But now if you bring an "off-meta" job you are more or less doomed. Plus you also "doom" your team so your team mates will probably silently resent you for "throwing" the game before it even started because why the hell are you not on Rdm or Ast?

This allows almost no creativity. You basically have to play one or two fixed team compositions. The other jobs can go back to casuals while the "real jobs" get stuff done in ranked.

Personally I get no fun out of playing a job I don't enjoy just for the sake of climbing. I want the ranking process to be fun too, not just the result. So honestly, I'm contemplating to stop playing ranked altogether because the mode just doesn't feel good right now. Not for me who gets very few moments of success playing the job I love and not for others whose experience I'll sour because they get that one off-meta job on their team again.

On 3. it feels somewhat similar to season 1 of 6.1. A lot of jobs were batshit crazy while some in the dumpset. But back then they had the excuse that the whole pvp system was brand new, but here it's been there for 2 years now. What depresses me however is that this is going to stay the whole season until the next, because they don't emergency balance anything, so the first season of an expansion in pvp I guess, it always doomed to feel like a shit sandwich.

Not to help things, they decided to ruin the hit detection system, which tends to raise the frustration-o-meter to ludicrous degrees. Everything feels broken.

On 2 yeah I think they went overboard. Although AST is a real issue right now, and dialing it back down to 5y with perhaps additional constraints would do a lot of breathing room. This job is way too oppressive to play against in everything it does.

Most of it is like get good, really good, 1 player can lift the match no matter job played.

Hogwash.

I have done that myself multiple times.

But a player or two alone can only do so much if they have to carry 3 or 4 others when the other team is coordinated and knows how to meet the objectives of the game.

The match making system is a mobile game ranking system modified to keep you playing by rage baiting you and then rewarding you with a streak every now and then. A false sense of achievement. All hollow. Meaningless.

This is pretty much how matchmaking works in CC.

It would be nice if players who dps and know how to play their jobs to win could be paired with team mates of similar skill levels beyond the "tiers". Likewise, if you are a consistently bad player or learning, well, maybe you should be teamed up more often with players similar to you so that you all learn together.

Current system is flat out terrible.

I should add, there is no excuse for CC ranked to be like front lines.

If it's a competitive game where skill expression matters, then they definitely need to fix their idiotic matching system. There is no excuse for what it is right now, leaving match making aside, too.

In my opinion, if you die, you're throwing. Try to learn to stay alive and retreat when things are starting to look sketchy.

You don't charge limit break while dead, and in this meta your LB is absolutely critical to winning matches. The less you die, the more opportunities you have to use your LB (preferably alongside your party members who are also using LB) and the more opportunities you will have to turn your games around...or at least kill the AST.

Score cards at the end are kind of important. The most important metrics imo are kills/assists, deaths, and damage/heal done (in that order). You should be aiming to have 100% kill participation (the total of your kills and assists should equal the number of kills your team secured) while having 0 deaths (if you do die, its because you were the last man standing on the crystal in overtime).

Ok, so there is just a tiny bit more to it than 'don't die' if your position is all to avoid death. A range spamming 'push the crystal' at another range and then you see how impressive it is that they did so much damage and took so little back just to see that they spent 7 seconds pushing the crystal. What a contribution.

The number of games I've lost because my team is 4 ranged & I'm the only melee who stands on the crystal is infuriating. Or 4 people decide chasing down the goon is prio as he stalls them for ages because this game makes fleeing far too easy and unpunishable without a stun. It's these matches that we just lose. Even with kill leads, if I'm forced off the crystal to heal, the enemy gets to barrel forward and no one will attempt to stop or slow them. This is at plat/diamond/crystal level play. I don't understand how the main objective necessary to win is so lost on people.
