SE why is shake drink a persistent emote, of all things?

I'm seriously giving y'all the side-eye at the decision making on hand here. Someone thought it was a great idea to let people set up this shaker and just afk to be an annoyance forever, but we still need to macro wait commands for any lengthy degree of Read, Tomestone, and numerous others. What..?

If you're going to do this with the shaker at least go back and fix the ones that actually make sense.

I think this emote makes sense to be a persistent emote, all things considered.

But yes I do agree that they should look at past emotes and make those persistent where appropriate. Insist and Read are the ones that instantly come to mind for me.

The fact that the read emote is not persistent but shake drink is irritates me lol.

The one that weirds me out is the watering can(/water) emote being persistent, surely I don't need to water something for literally forever...

Well, they probably flipped a coin, because if they didn't make it persistent, there'd be a post here complaining that it wasn't persistent, and you know it.

Because that persistent emote already existed in Eulmore so all they did was make it available.

As some of have already mentioned, it would be really amazing if more emotes became persistant like /read and /tomestone.

Likely because it already existed as a persistent emote. Run down to the Emypyreum Snowstep Springs and you'll see it.

The list can continue for each and every emote following your brilliant logic... Point being, you're making a non-point. This is an emote that can be combo'd with others, e.g., Shake Drink > Hand Over. Let's just be honest with ourselves, your problem isn't whether it makes sense for it to be persistent.

When it comes to perpetual emotes it feels like they do the exact opposite of what would make the most sense. Noisy emotes like shake/sweep/water should definitely not be perpetual - granted the water emote isn't THAT noisy but it also bugs me that the can seemingly holds endless water. And then there's the ones where it feels plain awkward that the emote doesn't end and you're just standing there in a silly static pose, like the love heart and hildy. Meanwhile I get 3 secs with my tomestone/book and 2 bites of my food... And don't even get me started on the little ladies DANCE with the fan that I thought would be a perpetual dance for sure when I bought it on the mogstation grrrr

The solution is now clear: add a persistence toggle that applies to every emote.

Mixing a beverage takes maybe 30 seconds, whereas people spend hours at a time reading a book or staring at a screen in one sitting. And when someone gets on your case about something, they NEVER let up.

And of course, those emotes don't make any noise either. But the noise really is only a problem if it's persistent, since you're barred from spamming. Combo argument only supports it not being persistent too.

I just wish we had a slider specifically for emote sounds so I could just mute all the shakers and people sweeping. I know there's a sound effect slider that will mute them, but I need my combat sounds.

Being persistent is not the issue, this is good.
The issue is the freaking sound is permanent. The emote should not have sound if it's permanent.

I think if the emote makes NOISE, it shouldn't be perpetual!

tbh my only problem with it is i have other pc volume at 5 AND THE NOISE STILL OVER POWERS EVERYTHING WHY IS IT SO LOUD

yeah the noise was pretty disturbing when i heard it from every direction for the first time

The problem is many people using it then afking cause they know it's annoying.

I'm shocked the tea sip emote isn't persistent, especially considering it's a paid emote.

SQUARE, a mute for this emote please. im sick of hearing it 24.7 in large cities

Just make believe that they are holding maracas and making a little rhythm for you. Dawntrail is the Latin American expansion after all. We need more maracas for authenticity.

In a funny twist, I have my sound effects dialed down by default, so reading this thread was actually the first time I became aware that the shake drink emote makes a noise.

Yeah, I kinda wish it wasn't never-ending. Longer, for sure, makes sense. But oof. People be mixing those drinks until they're bonded together on a subatomic level.

I don't mind the shaker, it's a little repetitive but it has enough variety that it isn't too obnoxious and I can tune it out like crafting.

But I guess I'm comparing it to sweep, which is such a jarring and awful sound that I just blacklist anyone who's left their character AFK /sweeping. Sweep should not have been a persistent emote, or they could re-record the sweep sounds to be more varied.

There are other emotes that are much more deserving of a looping emote than sweep and shake though...
/read should absolutely be persistent. And I still don't understand why /scheme is but /converse isn't.
The Little Ladies' Day /ladance was done dirty too; I feel like it should either loop or persistently hold at the final fan pose.

Yeah that didn't need to be eternal, just about 5 seconds or something. If people AFK with that I imagine it'll get a bit annoying after a while - and some people AFK for 24hrs.

The most frustrating part about the slav squat is female hrothgar actually do it when sitting on the egg mount. So we already have the ability to do it, but the game won't let us do it normally.
