Spooky PvP Week -- 7 days of PvP with 5 different communities!

Gooood morning it's time for your weekly PvP shilling. Revival PvP is hosting a week of Halloween themed PvP events from Oct 21st -> 27th! Every event on Friday is going to be part of a charity stream for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals!

If you want to get into PvP during the content drought, these are the 5 best communities to join: Revival, PvPrimal, Dynamis Talks, Violent Harlots, and PvPrincesses!

If the Princesses make the top 5 PvP communities, we're in worse trouble than I thought.

Consistent schedule, great turnout, good pool of highly skilled and flexible players.

Malicious vote-kicking and open discussions of how to best disrupt the broader community and "set Reddit on fire" through single-job Q-synchs grief me.

That said I hope you raise plenty of money for the ASPCA - it's a great cause. And given you're using it as a hook for participation, I look forward to learning here how much you raise.

I didn't realize that there were more PvP groups other than Revival and the old PvPassia. Times has changed indeed.

Yeah honestly, Endwalker was so good for PvP. With CC having an honest to god tournament scene, there's a lot more specialized discord servers and team specific ones.

Gonna promote this community until they shut the servers off tbh

Let me give you credit for the note contained in the above link:

"Time to salt the earth and inflict hysteria on your enemies! During these q-sync events, player language settings are usually altered on top of the usual time call to diminish the risk of disrupting regular Frontline queues and roulettes."

The Princesses have traditionally not bothered with language filtering, and members have been toxic to those suggesting they follow this universally-accepted convention.

The "good vibes and giggles" you mention are malicious cackles at those outsiders inconvenienced by their ghastly events.

Mini queue syncs, which don't use an off-language for filtering, generally due to not having 72 players, have been a thing for years. I don't see the problem at all actually, and it's a really weird hill to call someone a griefer on. How dare people want to... pvp as a community? Play Frontlines for more than a daily roulette? Uh huh.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing people at these spooky events!

Lots of people know who I am. You can call me a sockpuppet if it helps you sleep easier at night tho! Doesn't matter to me. Your story sounds like you interacted with people who were a bit rude in explaining their mini sync, which is a shame. What it does not sound like is griefing. Did they single you out? BM you? Mark you ignore on their team? All of those are examples of griefing. Just queuing up for a game-mode because of a community event is not. Nor do I think it's a justification for calling their events "ghastly".

They vote-kicked me from FL twice when I had said nothing in chat and was fully participating. My FC has also suffered harassment.

As to the events, I fully support community-driven ones. The series mentioned in this thread may well be fun, although I'll avoid it for obvious reasons.

What isn't fun is the Princesses trademark: an unfiltered Q-synch featuring a single job, particularly when it is explicitly planned to be as disruptive as possible to the "normals." Such events are "ghastly" IMO for those not in on the alleged joke. And the general disruption produced by unfiltered Q-synchs is explicitly mentioned in the literature for the event promoted in this thread, which I quoted above.

The forums tend to load slow when you first sign up because nothing is cached.

Assuming you're not pushing an agenda, getting vote kicked out of a Frontline probably felt stinky. It has happened to me a total of one time over the years, but I was also kinda being an ass and probably deserved it.

But this feels like a pretty broad brush, unless it's specifically the people in charge at PvP Princesses that kicked you. Queue syncs by their nature bring in a lot of people, some of which are just a bit toxic frankly. I was not there, so I couldn't say either way. But their core leadership really don't feel like that kinda people to me.

Incidentally I apologize for the sock puppet comment. Since you're new, you'll be unaware that whenever the Discord Mafia hegemony is challenged, there's invariably a string of new accounts that appear, explaining why we're all idiots. Based on the timing of your account creation, I assumed you were the head of the next conga line.

My "agenda" is lobbying against disruptive gameplay in FL.

FWIW, getting kicked didn't feel "stinky," it felt like and was a ToS violation.

This person's idea of disruptive gameplay is just premades in general. I wouldn't exert a lot of effort into discussion.

Not actually true. Premades change the gameplay, but that impact is a result of poor job balance and the fact rookies and rouletters are placed in the same pool as min-maxing veterans. More importantly, premades are not breaking ToS.

That's a very different situation from a Discord clique deciding to dump 30+ GNB on the field with the intention of being as annoying as possible and guaranteeing the match is largely pointless and goes to time limit. That's simple griefing and thus is arguably breaking ToS. Some clarity on the topic from SQEX would be helpful.

Compounding this abuse by flooding chat as if nobody else is there just advertises the fact the purpose of these events is to disrupt regular games. See the quote from the OPs blurb pimping their event! Responsible Discord servers recognize such practices disrupt the gameplay.

Bro we just want to play the game with our friends. And sometimes we get a laugh over showing up in themed glams and jobs.

"Being intentionally disruptive" isn't a fair description of that. Taking over a post meant to promote community events in order to rant, however...

I don't care what y'all wear when you Q-synch. My point is that the Princesses specifically have a history of deliberately disrupting FL matches through single-job mini Q-synchs. I am expressing the opinion that this is wrong.

You may "get a laugh" from all playing themed jobs. Maybe if the discussion on that server didn't explicitly reference which single job would cause the most disruption, they wouldn't get accused of being disruptive?

Maybe one day we'll have custom matches and these conflicts can be avoided.

That's what I'm ultimately pushing for. If I can get that with the option to play frontlines with an undersized party option I'll be happy again. Right now, it's not worth for me. Snatching away both 24 man and playing for your GC following with doubling down on playing for xp/fun and not a win....I'll pass.

The game has no job limitations, even though its mathematically improbable the majority of a lobby could just be one job, not to mention in game switching for those who want xp on something else. The game might be lopsided but its within players freedom to do, as well as squares scope of the modes. If they *really* didn't want job stacking they would limit 1 job per light party, but that becomes quickly impossible, because players cannot be expected to have every job unlocked from a design standpoint.

Basically, if square has allowed it for years than its within their intentions and a waste of time to get worked up over. With the dawn of dc travel if your stuck in a sync you dont like there's 3 other dc's to hop to.

I'd say square ultimately can't be responsible for every players actions, but hopefully the larger changes in 7.2 to large scale pvp will address some of these issues.

General coordinator of Spooky PvP Week here, as well as the person handling the stream for the charity event.

We raised 700 dollars for the ASPCA, going a little over four times our original goal, and popped a J-queue four times before the event was over. Overall it was a great result and we definitely felt the love and support from the community the entire time the event was ongoing. The VOD is up on the PvP Revival Twitch account as well.
