I've never seen a "Supply kit" on the store and it actually looked this good, not returning to the game good but account wide fantasia+emote for that price is unheard of.

Fallguys + this? Scrambling for sure. If they were "desperate" we'd see them actually reference criticisms more on the open.
This package could simply just be an easy hook for fast money. Alà "doesnt look expensive, downright fair" but enough purchases will make up for it and funnel funds to FFIX remake, mobile games, nft and anything that isnt FFXIV.

Doubt it. They usually decide things 8 months in advance or more, which is why a lot of feedback doesn't get incorporated for a whole expansion (2.5 years currently).
I don't have a problem with this, personally.
It's pretty obvious that this 'bundle' will, by design, be far more appealing to newer players and the earring in particular would be of a huge benefit to them.
Honestly if they wanted to make big bucks they'd bring back the ala mhigan earrings for the DoH/DoL xp buff that is on no other pre order accessory.
I have the feeling that this is just the beginning. What will be next? And the far better Question is, why should we preorder Expansions in the Future, if SE is throwing Pre Order Items for cheap into the Shop?
Just so the expansion is bought if you know for certain you're going to play it before even seeing the reviews. That's where consistency is good. We know what we're getting each expansion - bunch of dungeons, trials, 2 extremes, etc. So if you like that then you can just pre-order it.
Also a few days earlier access.
Same. I don't own it, since I started playing shortly after Endwalker's launch and missed the pre-order period.
I mean, "exclusive" at the time of release or not, the earring in question is almost three years old now. I mean, for veteran players, does it actually serve any purpose outside of complimenting Glams?
As noted, I don't own it - but since I DO own the Azeyma earring I'm not sure I see much value in purchasing this one (although I do like how well it would lend itself to some of my glams). But I definitely see the value in it for new players.
Okay, so the pre-order item exclusivity is out of the window. What's next, Square? Are you going to let us buy those meister quality work figurine emotes seperately? What about old PvP ranking sets or mounts? No? Fuck it, let's just allow players to buy weapon glams from UCOB, it's 8+ year old content now anyway.
Jokes aside, one thing is certain - no more pre-orders.
This actually has me a little upset.. not the bundle itself, but that earring is supposed to be representative, and special, for people who have supported the game, company, etc. since X expansion.. and they go and make it basically FREE with a fantasia.. on an ACCOUNT WIDE item.. making it exactly like owning the real thing.. Truly makes me question "What is the point in pre-ordering..." in the future, honestly.
I feel the same and its not we had to pay extra for those preorder iteam so I'm not seeing what the issue is. it's not like that earring gave us advance over others that did not pre order other than little increase of exp. and in my case i only could use it for 20 leavels since there where only 2 classes i had that could use them i know there are Alts i have few of them but still.
edit; i did forgot to mention about the level sync and iteam ofc works there for leveling but thats about it..
Edit 2: also its earring is from endwalker so we have had it for 3 years it not like its the Earring from dawntrail preorder
I can't say this is too egregious as the game gives new players a lot of these items during the A Realm Reborn MSQ. It does still reek of F2P/P2W MMO monetisation though and I can't say I'd be a fan of further packs like this being added to the cash store. Only the Aetheryte Tickets are a problem as the Gil you can save is certainly a step towards having something such as the WoW Token in FFXIV. Even then, until the day Square Enix integrates the cash store directly into the game client in the same manner that exists for WoW and other MMOs, you still have to deal with a terrible user experience each time you wish to buy cash store items. As for the earring, it's the Endwalker pre-order bonus being made available in Dawntrail... that's a three year old item at this point and levelling 1-80 is pretty fast these days. They could do far worse things such as making the level 100 boosts and Dawntrail story skip available during 7.x patch cycle rather than waiting until 8.0.
Absolutely this.. honestly, at this point just lemme go ahead and purchase a legacy tattoo? why not? right?
And i see a few comments about how "it's 3 years old-" etc.. That's not the problem.. And honestly if you do not see the issue with having them take something that's supposed to be exclusive to people who put trust into an expansion from pre-ordering.. that's you. I cant help you see the problem with that..
Even if that were the case.. What about the aetheryte earring? it's older. And even then.. I wouldnt want to see that become a common loot goody-bag on a cash shop.
There was a pretty big fuss when they put white raven earrings in the rising, I don’t think it is identical but they’re of the same cloth. I think it would not have required a terrible amount of forethought to call it a dalamud’s master earring and share the model or use another name and a dreadwyrm model or something but maybe there’s back end spaghetti that makes this far easier of an option.
I can see the point about the Legacy tattoo, but not the earrings. If you’re all caught up, but found the game later than others, that earring is essentially a glamour item and a damn nice one at that.
Its function is essentially worthless if you’re already over 80, and it’s not an “earned” reward, like Savage gear or Ultimate weapons. You could buy the pre-order back then, and you could buy this now. It was a real money item to begin with, so nothing is really different in terms of how it’s acquired. It’s not some sort of “I’ve been here longer” status symbol!
For the record, I have it, along with the ShB and DT earrings, and I’m glad others will get to have it. I don’t even know what the previous earrings looked like but I’d love to see those too. Along with the other old stuff you can’t get anymore, like the Dalamud minion or the Shiva emote. If you can’t buy the original thing they’re attached to anymore, I do think you should have a way to purchase separately. Definitely make it a little higher priced than a normal minion or emote, but put it out there. They’re still going to sell new statues when they come out, because that’s a hobby for some people. From a business standpoint, they’d make more money offering the in-game rewards separately than counting on a large number of players being willing to fork out hundreds for a statue.
That's exactly what it is though. A symbol to show that. And while it's not specifically "earned" like a raid item, it's still very much what it is, and should've remained. "I've been here longer-" but I think looking at it that way isn't really what I mean. Having that item, and nobody else ever being able to get it is part of the pre-ordering and that trust you put into the company. The fact that I still play and use it and have people ask "Wow where'd you get that-" is nice, i won't lie. It's nice having something to show how much you've put into the game, time.. money.. etc. My main issue with it is they didnt even change the passive it gives. the name. anything. It's not special anymore. and it SHOULD be.
If there going to start releasing bundles with previously pre-order exclusive items then they should at least start selling minions and other things that were previously exclusive to first runs of physical merchandise like there soundtracks and other items.
A little bit of both. They're adding something free to play games and scummy games like that. But it's a good deal, although with fake prices for data with no intrinsic value, but still.
It's clear this is meant to appeal to everyone who is coming back for their free game time/Halloween event/moogle tome event.
The greedy corporation wants more money! Insert shocked pikachu meme face.jpeg.
Really? I mean, some are acting as if these earrings are uber-rare and almost unique!
I sure as hell don't see my Azeyma earring as denoting anything like that! I certainly don't feel as if I'm putting out some sort of 'I support/trust the game' message by wearing it, I don't think anyone has ever noticed that I'm wearing it outside of AR's. I suspect most players Glam over them too. And considering that just about every instance of Aglaia I've played lately involves just about every other player present wearing one (or someone in chat reminding players to equip it) it really doesn't feel particularly "special"!
I absolutely love this grift and the people defending it. You only see this crap in F2P MMOs with high amounts of monetization. You don't see this in WoW. It's not just the value of the items, but the fact that they're goading new players into buying a worthless "starter kit" fully aware that they don't know any better.
And yes, it's almost entirely worthless:
Fantasia: Obtained via ARR MSQ
30% EXP: Meaningless when new players are already overleveled in the MSQ and have the Dynamis boost. MSQ is still the barrier to progress. Dumb fools will believe that having a higher level actually means anything when you still have 500+ cutscenes to click through.
Aetheryte Tickets: Obtained via ARR MSQ
Meaningless trinkets: Gateway drug to mogcrap
And given the lack of content, this game has turned into nothing but a grift operation. It's a scam.
"Account wide" is another noob trap. This game was meant for everything on one character. With DC travel, there is no need for alts anymore. This isn't WoW and we don't need Warbands. Once again, a clever trick.
I'm all for account wide stuff. I don't buy much I have a lot of alts and I resent buying something only one can use. Perhaps this is a sign of things to come maybe with the server upgrades and coding they've been doing for the expansion we might get more of them but I'm not holding my breath.
I don‘t really care that the earing becomes available to others. Its old anyway.
What anoys me more is that this, moogle treasure and fall guys is only interesting for new players.
This with the little content for long time players does leave a kinda sour taste if I‘m honest.
I guess after all those years the „new player spring“ is starting to dry up…
I will disagree on this one because yes, the game is designed to be able to be played with a single character, so at no point are you "forced" to switch to another race/class for whatever reason like other games, but a lot of people, myself included, like to create alts. I, for one, would rather have 3 characters of different races, with different glams, jobs and "personalities" than buying a Fantasia every month.
A fantasia for all characters on my account for the price of a single one? Yeah, I will take it.
And ppl complaining about the pre-order earring, and huffing and puffing about exclusivity and comparing it to the legacy tatto, lol come on. That is not even on the same level. You are just being petty and getting angry just for the sake of being petty and getting angry just because you are not happy with SE right now. There is absolutely nothing special about an earring from 2 expacs that you didn't even pay anything extra for or have to do anything extra for. All you literally did was buy the expac before it released, an expac you were going to buy anyway. Seriously, grow up.
I missed the Menphina earring, so I might get this just for that. It would be as a Glam only since I don't have a single job under 90 and have the DT earring anyway.
My character is devout to Menphina so always regretted skipping the pre-order. I had quit early in StB because the story was flat out boring to me early to mid-expansion, so I didn't trust the game to preorder after that.
I think it's a nice offer for new players just for the XP bonus earring.
Edit: I bought it. Not going to miss out on the Menphina earring which will let me express my character's devotion just a bit more.
This is the main bit I am wondering about! I don't know that there's anything stopping people from buying more than one account-wide item. Seems like a fantastic deal on Fantasias for the Fantasia addicts with multiple characters.
Otherwise, everything else is just nice to have for a new player, though I can see it looking of F2P player bundles. I sure as hell would have liked to have had that Menphina earring when I started shortly after Endwalker came out. Not for the glam, but because getting that many jobs to 90 needed all the help it could get. Is it something that people on the free trial can buy?
The main issue I have is adding the pre-order bonus to it. A lot of items in this game had limited-availability, so it is a bit strange to see one back like that.
I would like to see all the previous pre-order items on the shop, at minimum, since they already added this one, to level the playing field (glam is endgame, after all). The concerns about other limited items comes next, of course.
How destroy your reputation step by step:
I don’t think they ever called them limited though, and they weren’t, just bonus items. Anyone who preordered expansions for no reason but these items is likely incredibly rare. No one I know does. We did it for early access. But then, all our jobs have always been max level long before the next expansion releases.
Putting Aetheryte tickets in there is soooo sad, even when they had the twitch event where stage 2 got you 10 of them was such a sad idea... wtf you can get them easier than you can get gil and gil is heckin easy to come by, whoever did this as a package is a top tier idiot
