Do you think FFXIV would be better with regional servers? In my opinion, I think it would be for the best. Less latency issues and players wouldn't have to use the auto-translator. What are your inputs?

This has been discussed a lot. The main "latency" issue with this game is being fixed in 2.0. I prefer being able to play with people from across the globe.
i would much prefer to stay on global servers. due to my work schedule there's no way to know what time frame i can get online from week to week. global servers are much better for me due to being able to get on anytime of the day or night depending on what my work schedule permits and have people in the game to play with. with regional servers it will mostly be people on during their prime time and then dead the rest of the day.
if they add some regional servers that's fine and the people that want to play on them are welcome to it, but leave global as an option because that's where i'll be going.
It's already been long confirmed that 2.0 will have both global and regional servers.
>you got bad latency
>me got bad latency
> we all got bad latency
SE give bad latency so suck it
Let China have regional servers, and everyone else get global :D
I prefer to play with my own continent instead of xenophobic Japanese who keeps saying "JP ONRY".
Anyone who says otherwise is obviously just a weeaboo obsessed with Japanese culture.

Regarding the EU server which we have right now i come to the conclusion that global servers are much better.
global server have the advantage that they are populated around the clock. you can always find groups. right now on the EU server i only can find groups in the primetime between 6pm and 10 pm.. before and after its not that easy anymore.
and the other servers seem to be much more busy.
regional servers have a "shorter live" than global ones. people get quickly bored when they can not form groups easily, and when there is less action on their server.
so my opinion is +pro global server.
thats one BIG advantage regarding to other actual MMorpgs. But SE is throwing this advantage away.
Its much harder to keep regional server full.
well maybe because they can not speak english?? or can you speak japanese?? auto translation doesnt help anything when it comes to complecated tactics.
european people can speak english (sometimes more sometimes less) but japs often cant speak english
unfortunatley not. Yoshida said already, that there will be regional servers -.-
i think they need to merge them right after release if it will be like in other MMorpgs.
Dont you mean CHina regional server?
I've never seen or heard him confirm regional servers for anywhere outside of China.
But more on to the topic, I support global only servers. I'd rather not watch the populace of the entire game wrap themselves in a security blanket of their culture. NA players do it just as much as JP players.
thats exactly what i meant. nothing more. sorry ^
but i dont like that idea personally. the EU server which we have right now, is kinda "lame" ;D not that much action anymore. especially before and after primetime, whereas i had much fun in the very late evening on the international server.
and i dont think that "a realm reborn" will be THAT successfull that we need server for germany, france, britain etc.
ITT: people make bad decision and regret it
This is perhaps the worst application of logic in this entire thread. Kudos.Quote:

Personally I prefer global servers. I don't see a problem with "suggested region" servers, but considering many of my LS friends have been from countries on the other side of the world, (and more than a few living in Japan) I wouldn't care for an enforced set up.
I wish I had bad latency and could complain about it :(
No..........
Imagine doing a raid in World of Warcraft with 400ms and 3 seconds input lag.
And now think about regional server where you could actually play the game WITHOUT this bs.
I wouldn't mind if there was a server centered around our areas for better latency, but I absolutely do not want those servers to be a local hang-out and act as a shunning ground for people from the rest of the world. I like our open world servers.
no whole point of mmo's from square enix were always based on cooperation and always allowed intermingling of different people unless you want to make 1 regional server were only chinese people can play on i see no point in this because to be honest 90% of chinese players i have ever seen on ffxi were always RMT.
Yes to region servers. I love being able to talk, communicate, and schedule people during times which are the most convenient for me. Global servers hinder that effort. Secondly, using auto translate is not an effective tool to do content with.
Nothing wrong with that, and nothing wrong with wanting to play with international players if you choose so.
Thus, the proper solution is a mixture of servers.
You guys do know that even if they wanted to create regional servers they can't because it would just seperate the very few players they have undoing the server merges they did?
IF they are coming , i expect it to be atleast a year after 2.0 to see if they can afford to seperate them if they gain enough players between the regions to allow players to play without the loss of other players to play with
Then again, there is the "Content finder" in 2.0.... which then, it won't matter at all, if they implement it and correctly, the server populations won't matter >.>
I wonder if there's a half-way solution, keeping the main server itself in Japan but having regional servers for instances. It could determine which area has the lowest ping for the majority of the party, and offload the work for the battle there.
