Chargeback for false advertising

I just did a chargeback because of false advertising by Yoshi P. He lied about DDoS, misled people thinking Dawntrail story is about Scions, and sold a product that he KNEW was bad. Just got off my phone with the bank that said they'll process this immediately.

If you didn't like Dawntrail, do a chargeback because I called support for an entire month and they refuse to give me a two-day refund because of the two-day maintenance, and then there were 5 maintenances in a row that affected my playtime so I called again and asked for a week of refund and they refused. Then yesterday they refused to refund Dawntrail for false advertising so now I have to resort to chargeback. This is the only way SE will listen.

If they put that in the ToS then it's illegal in Cali, California does not allow you to refuse refunds. I'll write a letter to the attorney general if that's true.

I got my money back anyways! Realistically it should be more than refund because they wasted my time as well, when you pay $60 and play for 10 hours realistically game companies should refund $60 + 10 * $15/hr which is $210, but sadly we don't live in an ideal world.

Square Enix has been known to delete the accounts of those who chargeback via their bank, including their characters. Forever.

What I meant to say was, Square Enix will send you a $50 Chick-Fil-A gift card if you chargeback, and even give you a year of free sub time to make up for the dissatisfaction.

Yeah you can go check it out, they emailed an updated TOS early this morning and I was reading it out of curiosity.

"3.8 Chargebacks. You are authorizing all fees charged under this User Agreement until you properly deactivate your account. Therefore, you may not falsely notify your credit card or debit card provider that you did not authorize the automatic recurring charge. If you are using a parent's credit card, you must have their authorization for recurring billing."

They will delete your account soon. At least someone here had the cojones to stand up for the actual players since Yoshi-P won't do it himself. FFXIV is the last MMO that's social and populated, and without it we're basically forced to touch grass and hit the bars. God forbid you have some kind of a disability that prevents you from doing those things. Yoshi-P doesn't realize how much of an institution FFXIV is for people, especially given how much we paid for this. He's at the apex of his career and doesn't seem to care about actual people anymore.

Doing a charge-back is directly against their ToS and you will likely get banned within 48 hours for doing it. Happened to me and someone else I know. They will require you to pay it back in the form of "Crysta" IIRC. Good luck or nice knowing you.

They are already back.

I hope you never see a penny of that money because this is very upsetting to read. The devs are nice ppl, the game has a lot of heart, there's lots of great dt stuff and instead you just focus on tiny bad things in the game. It's upsetting for the devs too to see this. If they refunded you like u said I am disappointed because you weren't entitled to it

Whilst remain unconvinced about the authenticity of this thread I will say that I wonder if, for example, a person who went to see the movie "Titanic" and, having watched it to the end, returned to the ticket office and demanded their money back, arguing that it was primarily a love story that happened to be set on the Titanic, would actually receive a refund? I rather doubt it.

As a California native and life long resident myself, I know that is false. California has a reputation for its crazy policies (many of which are real /shudder) but that is not one of them.

As for California refund law it the same law that is on the books in many places, People think it covers everything. Look at the exceptions to the law is also as important as the law itself.

IE I want a refund for the food I ate 2 days ago. Here is my poop. Nope not going to happen.
I didn't like this game, but I played it for 29 days of my sub.

There is also a big difference between charge back and refunds.
Refunds cost a normal transactions fee.
Where Charge Back normally starts at $10-25 + the amount and can increase on the amount of charge backs that happen.

And, to add to this... complainant - Tita... sorry, Chloe here also mentioned maintenance, which they are entitled to do per the ToS everyone agrees to. Your subscription is access to the servers, nothing more than that, and if they actually read any part of the terms, they would know that maintenance can and does happen, and they are entitled to perform it as they see fit (5. Interruption to Service, under the User Agreement).

it has the best graphics, cutest mounts, best raids, most challenging dungeons and so on of all expansions. Who cares about the story which is done after 2 days anyway

Here is where you messed up. If you were really so mad that you did a chargeback, then you wouldn't care that the account gets banned. After all, what are you gonna do? Keep playing while being unable to progress because you returned DT? That doesn't make sense. If you did a chargeback, then it'd only be because you were quitting forever.

Might wanna look outside and touch that green stuff sometimes. There's no reason you should be this emotional over a video game. Also just so you know doing chargebacks on digital goods in the US at least will result in your account most likely being terminated. It's not just this game it applies to everything such as PSN, XBox, Nintendo, etc. Unless they specifically have a "refund" option built into the system that is. It's fine to be upset about a product you aren't happy with but going on a rampage and risking losing your entire account is not it my dood.

I worked in Chargeback and fraud, and the biggest disclaimer we give people is: "Avoid chargeback with us unless absolutely necessary, many places cancel their account"

Steam and Playstation are the most notorious for this, even if it comes out deemed a valid chargeback, you will get your account perma-banned with them regardless of chargeback outcome, valid or not, and most game accounts are the same.
