We Have Sin Eaters and Voidsent, but could there be others?

So a random topic came to mind while discussing lore with my FC. We we talking about what shard Alexandria might come from, with the 12th and the 9th being the most probable. We also know that the 12th was rejoined in a lightning calamity. But what if it wasn't rejoined? What if it met a similar fate to the 13th and the 1st? What would become of its denizens?

With a flood of Darkness, the inhabitants of the 13th became what we call Voidsent. Similarly, the inhabitants of the 1st became Sin Eaters with a flood of Light. But what of the other elements? Like a flood of Lightning. After some thought, my FC mates and I settled on Surge Protectors as a name. It's punny sure, but it plays into the whole event of the Storm Surge, and the idea of electrical devices.

So I'm curious what others think an appropriate name might be for the creatures created from each flood. Does Surge Protectors sound good? Or is it too penny?

I'll try and think of names for the other elements too.

Edit: I though of an interesting name for Wind creatures, Breathless. It may sound odd at first, but what is another term for breathless, winded, lol.

First off, we were told the amount of Rejoinings that have occurred and the status of the First and Thirteenth as being special by multiple sources including Hydaelyn and Elidibus, so I don't know why they would all lie about it.

The Lightning Calamity also doesn't match the timeline because that would've been many thousands of years ago, older than even the Allagan Empire. Even if you take into account time weirdness, that still doesn't add up in the timeline we were told and the amount of bending the timeline that would have to occur to have that all match up would be particularly egregious. The Milala left the Source to Alexandria's reflection thousands of years AFTER the Calamity of Lightning but arrived in Alexandria's shard BEFORE their lightning problem started.

The most likely case is that it's just another shard that hasn't been Rejoined. There are more elements than there are shards so they were bound to double-up on them eventually. Either way, looks like the lightning is somehow over in post-MSQ Living Memory, which is their shard and there's lightning somehow under the dome on the Source with no explanation how that works. But we'll probably find out in the patches.

I dunno, I feel like Light and Shadow are unique among the elements in that their presence directly affects how other types of aether flow.

Light is stagnation, so it turns life into pure white, unchanging, unemotional beings. As Light spreads, it slows down the flow of aether, turning into more Light that progresses the stagnation.
Shadow is liberation, so it turns life into chaotic beings with transient forms. Aether liberated by Shadow is easily manipulated by voidsent, allowing the creation of more voidsent.

I just don't really see that happening with other elements, unless you count how being over-tempered turns you into a weird corrupted elemental creature apparently, though this was never really explored in any significant capacity in-game. We also don't know of any Light/Shadow primals other than Big Blue Crystal and He Who Eats Babies, which also makes the two types stand out.

I feel like you missed the main point of the thread.

We actually kinda have seen similar, with people who get tempered so hard by a singular-element primal that they transform. The sea monster pirates in Sastasha Hard probably most notably. It's kinda hard to tell how much of that was Leviathan's influence versus just how getting over-watered affects someone, though.

Yeah, the "drowned" are the closest things we have to other elemental aether corrupted beasts, but at a much lesser degree than voidsent or sin eaters. We also see zombies imbued by the corrupted crystals in Pharos Sirius and the overaspected.... things from the Tower of Babil. Clearly aether corruption isn't the only thing needing to happen to make aether beings like voidsent and sin eaters.

Given our experiences in Heritage Found, and Alexandria, I imagine a lightning-flooded beings would would end up being somewhat biomechanical. One's coporeal aether could undergo aetherochemical changes as it's exposed to high amounts of lightning aether before their soul fully converts into lightning energy to now power the newly-formed being with their memories now etched as circuitry.

A fire-flooded being would likely not exist for very long as they would probably just burn up, and explode.

Earth-flooded beings could seemingly turn into statues, and become part of the planet, but over time as geological activity persists within them could violently 'come back to life' causing earthquakes, and other volcanic activity.

Ice-flooded beings could probably be a mix between voidsent, and sineaters, and embody entropy as they try to indiscriminately snuff out any high energy aether sources to maintain equilibrium.

Wind-flooded being could be like ghosts. I like your 'Brethless' name.

Water-flooded beings would probably just resemble fish, and other aquatic life with the worst cases turning into crabs.

Considering how the lighting over-aspected boy was paralyzed, I wouldn't be surprised if lightning-flooded beings are like you describe the earthen ones, incapable of moving and may as well be statues. I am quite sure howver, that they would not be part technological. All the cicuity on usable electrope is Human-made, not natural occurance. The circuitry, based on Arcanist magic circles, is what Humans etched into the natural stone.

Id say we get a good glimpse of that when Levitan transforms those Pirates into Davy Jones crew lol

OMG, I didn't even think of it like that, lol. At least the Aether creatures make sense, in context. The Kingdom Hearts games i think just add new monsters for the evulz, lol.

I still haven't played a Kingdom Hearts since 2, but I think it's got a kinda funny struggle in all of its monstrous groups being very recent and localized within the context of its own universe. Basically every Kingdom Hearts villain or monster group traces back to one still-living human man and his specific intentions, so whenever they stretch outside of the range of whatever Xehanort was known to be up to they have to create some entirely new Thing. ...that then somehow reconnects back to Xehanort in most cases and so kinda just prolongs the problem. The Heartless are apparently ancient, but even they only really became a problem when Xehanort started doing his thing.

Basically, Kingdom Hearts is written in such a way that really hamstrings their ability to have a 'fight this goblin' kind of ever-present monster group, so they keep making new ones.

You could say we've seen overaspected ice in the Dusk Vigil which gave us something that was little different from zombies.

I don't think you can have an elemental "voidsent/sineater" because Light/Darkness are not actual element like the 6 others.
They're just a combination of all 6 with an affinity for being active or passive. Like they can really be compared to a polarity to some extent.

The big difference I would see would be, when considering any citizen, they're made of some balance of all 6 elements. Upon being hit by a flood of light/darkness, all their eather becomes aspected to either, so becomes too active or too passive thus resulting in a voidsent/sineater.
However, a flood of wind for instance would imply that all the eather becomes wind aspected but neither astral or umbral. Just "wind". If someone turns into 100% wind eather then... that should simply result into a wind elemental. Unless they "primarly" become wind then sure, but then it would still become some kind of sub category of flood because during a flood of light, the Aether doesn't partially become umbral. It full becomes it and stops flowing hence the 1st being a dead land where no life can arise.

So I do believe we could have a flood of wathever element, but them resulting into an elemental variant doesn't fit right as the 6 elemental aren't the same as light/dark. Wind is just wind. It's not opposed to anything.

It would depend on whether a being like that really goes full 100% . Judging by how Y'stola was unable to differentiate between the WoL and a sineaster, after we only absorbed a single Lightwarden, we can't really know if a sineater is truly 100% light, or just like say... 70 % light and 30 % other stuff. If it's the latter, I'm sure a single-element equivalent could exist and might be the same as the mutated tempered we've already met, just without the mind being dominated by a patron primal.

That being said, with how a pre-calamity floods a shard with a single element, rather than transforms what is there into that element, I wonder if it's even possible to turn a shard 100% single-element. The four fiends have elements from both sides of the divide, so does that mean that a little bit of light-elements still remained in the Thirteenth, or did they only take on that element, after consuming Azdaja's aether?

Yes I agree but that would imply some new information. So far we've been told that you become fully aspected toward's light/dark.
Mutated tempered yes, definitely, but we know those to be "too much" hence the big difference with a flood which we've been told turns entirely into.

I understood that any "normal aether" was acquired through Asdaja but i might be wrong.

Wind is weak to ice and we know that each of the six elements lean closer to light or dark. Ice and lightning being the closest to their respective polarity. It's why when we are fighting Ryne as Shiva that it ends up with us fighting a mural accurate looking Hydelean and needing to stop a flood of light.

well we do have greyskin or Ashkin don't remember with one be they are technically vampire the lupin are werewolf kinda? I do say if we see something it new it might be hard to creat in itself because we have sin eaters that kinda represent heaven in the story lore in some point of view and voidsent could represent hell but I think neither does work because we go meition I think have a somewhat weird faction in itself. so I don't think there is more what could it be that is the good question because in ARR every evil thing are voidsent so a part of me wonder if they actually all are? That we might never knows because voidsent have been refer as hell spawn for so long and now we know why they does it.

You seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of what the Sin Eaters and the Voidsent actually are. They're not just beings infused with an absurd amount of their respective elements. They're the result of a creature's aether becoming stagnant (Sin Eaters) or in constant flux (Voidsent). There are really only three potential states for this: 1: Total stagnation which results in becoming a sin eater, 2: Constant flux which results in becoming voidsent, and 3: A balance which allows the creature to be their true form. The presence of overwhelming light aether causes a creature's aether to stagnate. The presence of overwhelming darkness aether causes a creature's aether to become unstable.

I hope we see some lightning flooded monstrosities in the upcoming MSQ dungeon.
