BLM 5% buff isn't enough

As I said before 10% damage buff at least for black mage (More of that percentage on Burst)

Why this fear of buffing BLM when there is nothing to do with PCT damage?
I don't get it BLM less mobile less burst less rDPS it is disgusting to live another patch this balance state!!!

So you're getting uppity over a 2-3% damage difference because BLM needs to move every so often? I thought you could bring your leylines with you, now.

I mean it should absolutely be doing more than a job with an aoe shield and an indom.

Though the big issue is how it still kinda feels like ass to play

To all the fellas saying "but its only like a 2% difference" you are missing the point.

Black Mage with zero native utility other than Addle performs for less than Pictomancer which has a group-wide damage buff, a group-wide shield on a 90s CD and an AOE heal during burst. It is also significantly more difficult / punishing to play than Pictomancer.

Completely ignoring the melees, Black Mage is being grossly outperformed in every category in its own role (Caster). It doesnt matter if its 2%, 5% or 1% - it is less than the non-raise utility caster.

BLM requires more effort than its worth damage wise. Its just easier to play another job really.

Not sure why people find this confusing. BLM was doing crazy DPS in EW after buffs. I remember distinctly arguing for the buffs and people told me me no, that it would destroy the game. Yet as we saw, BLM usage barely increased and SMN still pretty much dominated (at the time). People will not flock to BLM based on DpS. But the will flock to an easier job as long as it does enough DPS to clear, and bonus points for utility/res.

Mao agrees. Main problem is that BLMs now more rigids and nots flexibles enough to lets players enjoy DT fights. This requires more fixings than just uppings potencies little bits. EW design was MUCH more flexibles and could has handled DT fights.

My only takeaway from the current DPS charts is that the melee; particularly VPR are disgustingly overtuned for their actual relative complexity. DRG, NIN and RPR are in a similar position

Sure you can argue that BLM can be above PCT but VPR is the real offender here

I find viper harder than drg/rpr to optimize

So give it utility like PCT and move on. Not like the PCT heal is amazing.

Leaving it selfish dps is the non homogenous way to do it. This would work too, it's just job homogenization logic.

Selfish DPS is just an outdated concept, ignoring poor MCH (who barely even counts as selfish as it’s the only DPS with 2 non conditional mitigations) a DPS shouldn’t immediately always be in contention for top spot simply because they don’t bring anything to the raid besides damage

There is also just the fact that where do you draw the line with utility? Is star prism utility (I’d say yes) is SAM’s disgusting new defensive that basically makes it an off tank utility (I’d say yes a lot of people say no)

The modern game is built so heavily around raid buffs that every DPS should have some form of conditional utility (like star prism or SAM’s defensive) so that every single tier the top of the charts isn’t dominated by the same 3 classes who are there simply because they are selfish

I would go against this

All dps jobs should be selfish

There should be another role in the game called "support"
Which is not dps not tank not healer

They should have supporting utilities every 2 min buffs
Instead of giving it to all jobs and now we have tanks who heal more than healers(warrior)

Dancer bard should be support role they do all buffs for party

Light party:
1 tank
1 healer
1dps
1 support

Full party:
2 dps
2 support
2 healers
2 tanks

Poor Summoner :(

All I'm seeing from that chart is that PCT and VPR are busted and Ranged needs a hefty buff, including their honorary members of SMN/RDM.

Rotational complexity aside, SAM and BLM I believe are in the most reasonable spots on the list, being middle of the road between jobs that have a lot of utility vs Jobs that have less utility. VPR needs to be brought down to that level so as to not be so overbearing. The other melees seem fine for the most part.

MCH needs a hefty buff. As the "selfish" DPS of the Physical Ranged, even if we account for the ludicrousness of the Ranged Tax, it shouldn't be that much lower than NIN at the least, being somewhere in the ballpark of where the higher tier of RDMs is currently at, with DNC/BRD/SMN/RDM following suit, although I couldn't state if they should be above or below MCH. PCT is hard to place though. The motifs having such long cast times can be justification for having higher DPS but the added utility it brings is also hard to undercut as an AoE shield and an Indom every 2 minutes isn't something to just brush off either. It should also be down there with the other Ranged roles though.

DRG... overtuned? I guess we live in different realities.

Anyway, what BLM needs is fixing the elements that BLM players find rigid or badly implemented such as Thunder and Flare Star.

No such thing. Either you are the best in dps or you are balanced. They just need the PCT utility and then they will be fine. Besides, all classes have some kind of healing. You won't be the "best" no matter what, so take the utility and move on.
