2.0 town maps the same? Placement the same?

Most of whats coming out of 2.0 looks great, but the one thing i dont understand after it being the by far #1 complaint (changing the poorly designed world) is why the citys are gonna stay the same (correct me if im wrong...because i hope to be).

Although i find Uldah to be just fine, the other 2 IMO need some re-adjustments. They are a bit oversized and spread out, which is likely part of why noone wants to be there on purpose.

The other thing is i dont think the placement is being changed, which once again will make everything stay the same where all the people gather at Uldah. FFXI IMO had got it done pretty well with spreading the starter citys out wide enough from each other and the main eventual gathering town (Jueno) that staying in your main city made sense (among other things).

Will 2.0 end up playing out the same way with the overcrowded Uldah? will the oversized other citys stay exactly the same? It might not be a huge thing, but it will be kind of sad to see those other places barely being used yet again do to bad map location design and not making any changes at all to the citys (who wouldnt like a new city with a more convient layout?)

In the new trailer, Ul' Dah gets hit by some meteors from dalamund. So I doubt it's not gonna get at the very least some cosmetic changes. Also they already said they will be adding new pathways and easier ways to get around in 2.0.

Hopefully we get some sort of Cross City chat so we can hear the same shout in every city, that way 1 city isn't overcrowded all the time.

They just need to give all 3 cities equal/very near equal travel times to Ishgarde which if they design content/maps right will most likely be the next city everyone congregates at like jeuno.

I just don't want to have NPC's labeled "job X's items" standing around. I like the store fronts and the layouts. Besides, we have the aethergates

Yoshi-P did say in one of the interviews that towns would not be changing much. I also hope this is not really the case. The towns also need a make over. At least a small one.

is also not part of the city Ul'dah although you see that concept art, when clicking on ul'dah.
its an outpost in the region of ul'dah. but not part of the city.

Yeah.. since the Trailer is left in rubble.. it wouldn't make any since to have it look like pretty roses :P In-game.

we have seen some concept arts of Gridania long time ago where you can see that gridania will fully re-designed. i cant find it anymore unfortunatley.

i doubt that the main cities will look like before.

Yoshi stated allready that they wont change the Main-Cities really much. ( With that Concept-Art under Uldah im not sure anymore ), but the Concept-Art you have in your mind are actually Outposts and a Chocobo-Farm, not the City itself.

He said they wouldn't change much but he never said they wouldn't change at all. If a giant meteor fell on one half of the city then the other half should still be the same as far as the layout goes. He also said the 3 cities would be easier to get around so maybe this is how they plan to consolidate everything in Ul'dah.

well i think that the last picture for example that i've posted shows the big tree in gridania which got destroyed. see the remains of the bark which are ordered in a round circle?

Well anyways i think they will change enough concerning the cities. they know that gridania and limsa havent been very popular in the actual version.

That is actually called "Aquatic town". Was the original title of the Screenshot, but several sites tend to change the name of the files. xD

We will get Sahagins soon, so i could imagine they will be in the Black Shroud. And since the Black Shroud is a zone from Grid i could imagine the "outposts" or w/e it is will look similiar in design and their Building-structure.

the pictures of limsa and gridania on the reboot homepage do not show 2.0. screenshots (not even the new graphic engine)

well i think the new FFXIV 2.0. page is a little messed up.. while the Ul'dah region page shows us new 2.0. concept arts .. gridania and limsa only shows old alpha version screenshots of FFXIV 1.0., great.

thats not gridania, look at the concept map again (or reinhearts translation), its a small village outside gridania with an aerhtryte and an airship landing, its labelled differently to a hamlet however.

i think its just areas around thanalan

Sahagin's are attacking Limsa Lominsa together with Travanchet ( Mistbeard Cove ), which you will see in Mainstory of Limsa.. they will tell you about the War between the Sahagins and the Barracuda Fleet and how their Primal Leviathan is fighting against those Fleet. Where did anyone say that they live in underwater caverns? Beside that, we are not able to swim or even go underwater for now.. doesnt make sense at the moment to put mobs there, right?

They are living on a chain of Isle called Cieldales.( something like that, dont remember the correct spelling )... what did you say again about reading the lore?

Well now you're just both making stuff up.

We know that there are some Sahagin located in Cassiopeia Hollow, as noted by Brunadier at Camp Bloodshore. We also know that they once inhabited Shposhae, but have since been cleared out. Aside from that though, there has been no indication as to where their stronghold is located.

The Cieldalaes are mostly uninhabited, and are used mainly as a stop for fishermen traveling to and from Limsa Lominsa and as of last week, the training grounds for Skirmishes. The isles are also known for their spinach, clams, and certain types of fish. :o

Well I might be wrong about them living in underwater caverns, but they definitely don't live in the Black Shroud. They have to live somewhere that we can't get to yet, since we've never seen them. And they have ALWAYS been associated with La Noscea and nowhere else. They are aquatic creatures and they worship Leviathan. Isn't it common sense that they live underwater or at least in caves near water?

As for the Cieldales, definitely no Sahagin there lol. Some of the islands are uninhabited like Locke's Lie and Turtleback Island, but the main one isn't. There are a couple sidequests where you help a sailor get some supplies for trade with the people that live there.

I never said they live in the Black Shroud and that is where you got me wrong. I said i could "imagine".

something like that needs to happen, dont really wanna see everyone just bum rushing one city all over again right as 2.0 starts leaving the others dead. That and some shrinking/better placement of the other 2 citys. Hard to want to even bother with them when Uldah has everything in a much cleaner and compact space.

From what Yoshi has said about cities not changing, this probably isn't Ul'dah. Which would also mean that whatever gets destroyed in the trailer isn't Ul'dah either... Not only that, but the layout of the buildings doesn't look like anything currently in game.

But if it is...

We would have a new Ul'dah as well as be able to explore the ruins of old Ul'dah... And that would be awesome.:cool:

I hope Ul'dah is nothing but a pile of rocks and pathetic ruins. It deserves to be in ruins after making everyone stand in it for hours every day waiting for shouts.

I'm sure Ishgard will be the new hub anyway, but I still want to see Ul'dah destroyed.
