Severe lag spikes since 7.01

Since yesterday's patch I've been experiencing huge lag spikes on Chaos EU, they seem worse in instanced content, everything stops and then the game tries to "catch up" and throws every mechanic at once.

Some people have reported the same on reddit and several are on Vodafone, myself included.

Just posting here to give it a bit more visibility and try to confirm if it’s the server, the ISP, both... Just trying to get some data.

My tests all seem correct on my end, stable ping, no packet loss, but it still lags like crazy.

EDIT: Possible fix, seems changing your DNS to Google DNS fixes the issue, it's early to say if it's a definitive solution, but I've been playing all night with no issue (the issue might also be fixed with any other DNS, and it was just good timing though, haven't rechecked with Cloudflare DNS)

Been having the same issues here.
Since yesterday these issues keep persisting making it near impossible to do dungeons, raids or even fates.
ISP is also Vodafone, Germany, and everything else internet wise is fine.
Would like to get some clarification on what is going on here, as it doesn't seem like its getting much attention.

Same thing here, Vodafone Germany playing on Chaos. It was fine this morning (as far as I could tell) but started acting up again about 2 hours ago or so, even disconnected me while doing roulettes & Fates :/

My ISP is also Vodafone Germany. I have been experiencing massive Lag since yesterday (Chaos DC). There is plenty of bandwidth available and there are no problems with other online games.

I'm also experiencing an issue with this. Just got booted from a dungeon instance and PvP frontline has been unplayable.

Also on Vodafone UK.

It was fine yesterday, but I am having problems since today as well. When doing duties my game freezes for a few seconds. My ISP is Vodafone Germany.

Also Vodafone EU (Portugal), playing on Light DC, the lag spikes started yesterday after the patch, and they continue today. I was just doing an Alliance Raid and the constant lag spikes made it unplayable, they also increased in duration with time to the point of ending with a 90006 DC error.

Everything else I do online I have no issues at all.

Same here, Vodafone Germany, Lags/freezes since the Patch whenever someone uses a dot.

Having the same issue. Just logged in to do some FATEs. Having weird lagspikey. My ISP is Vodafone Germany aswell.

I join the Vodafone Germany crew (cable internet). Same behavior as described. Game hangs, basically queues up everything, then handles it all after the lag window, then it repeats. Worse in grouped content. Raids were a pain, hunts (a-rank trains) are impossible.

Same issue, vodafone germany, alliance raid and frontline basically unplayable. Never had issues before 7.01 … hope it can be fixed soon

Same here vodafone czech republic, lagspikes and freezes from 1-10 sec in content, yesterday i was doing new raids fine and today its unplayable.

I am on Vodafone UK, never had any issues in the 10 years i have been playing, until today. I am having to reset my PS5 frequently (which seems to stop the freezes for awhile). Seems even worse when using my PS Portal.

Was fine before patch 7.0.1 and ever since the raid has come out, it's been night unplayable. I also seem to get a weird thing where the lag is happening, I get disconnected and then it is seemingly fixed for the rest of the session after a reconnect?

I have the same problem with Vodafone Germany.


When I experience lag, I briefly unplug the LAN cable from the Xbox, causing a disconnect.
After that, the lag disappears.
However, this is probably just a matter of luck.

When you run the command pathping neolobby07.ffxiv.com on your PC (Windows) in the console, do you also get 100% packet loss at the IP address 145.254.3.196?

Light = neolobby07.ffxiv.com

Not happening for me, but it also looks weird, it only does one hop

Same problem as everyone else (vodafone germany), although the severity seems to vary from character to character for some reason? My Main on Phoenix is mostly fine while my alts on Alpha and Raiden can hardly do anything once an instance starts,

No issues before 7.01 but today i first had weird lagspikes until it culminated in me having to force quit the game out of a duty
during a bossfight because i had a 20 second+ lagspike out of nowhere. Everything else regarding my internet works flawlessly.

And yes, it also tells me that I have 100 % packet loss to a vodafone ip and a square enix ip. :(

Since patch yesterday - one of the worst lag experience ever.

Crowded locations like Limsa Lominsa - several lags, but not such a big deal, no game freeze, just simple lags, that are bearable, but kinda annoying, player spells works normally, and do not cause any freezes
Instances - the game freeze every 5-15seconds for 10-25seconds, sometimes cause even to disconnection with no actual reason (even when there is no killing and ppl are just running, there is multiple freezes...
FATEs - the game freeze literally after first mob is pulled till the end of FATE (was disconnected once during achievement FATE, but other two were just freeze whole time)
A/S rank hunts - after first spell (any player spell) the game freeze until the monster is dead and there is no cast

Before patch it was ok and I had no issue even when the areas were rly crowded (achievement FATEs, aliance raids etc.)
After patch the game is unplayable.

Edit - when I shut down firewall it works, but Im not sure if its the optimal solution :/

Need to note that the connection is fine and other games have no issue. Im not using any 3rd party program, no mods

Yesterday was fine. Today everything instanced starts to lag out till its unplayable.

Can confirm. Germany, Vodafone, Cable Internet.

Just started having problems around 30 mins ago. Severe and constant lag spikes. Yesterday I was completely fine, unlike my friend who had started to have this problem yesterday and still has today. Vodafone Portugal (EU) here. Playing with an ethernet cable and NEVER had any kind of connection issue. XIV seems to be the only online game with problems for me. Other online games are running fine with no lag.

Get Manage Exception for FFXIV in your FIREWALL is the key,
some guy on Reddit said this (Twelve bless him) so we tryed aaand it helped :)

At least for now.. not sure if it should be working this way.

I happen to not use a firewall, so that isn't it, at least for me and I assume several others.

Um.... the firewall has nothing to do with it...
It is a routing problem.

Same issue here, Vodafone Portugal. Seems to affect me the most during duties.

I'm mostly playing instanced content and starting today it was unplayable, constant freezes lasting 5-15 seconds all the time

Can confirm the lag issue, Vodafone italy here, on Chaos.
In overworld everything is fine, in instances it lags, especially frontlines and raids.
