I Can't Help but to think FFXI Opening CGI is highly simular to..

FFXIV's A Realm Reborn Trailer: has a Similar feel to FFXI Opening Trailer, instead of Beastman attacking Kingdom of San'doria, it the Garlands attacking Ul'dah. That's really the only difference is the Enemy attacking. Here's the Opening to FFXI:

Just Mute both of them... and You'll see Its almost the same FFXI= Beastman Attacking Sandy FFXIV= Garland attacking Ul'dah and the Darkness feel to it like XI has as well in the opening CGI.

What do you guys think about it?

They aren't attacking san'doria, they are attacking that other place.. the CoP zone.. the name I can't remember. Tavnanznia?

Oh? I thought it was considering Sandy's flag was broken off after the Beastman won the fight :P and it looked like a Castle was being Infiltrated :P. I always thought it was that but either way you put it, it has that feel to it to me. Except XI voice is alot better :P. I hope the Full Opening for FFXIV is a different voice though.

Edit: Was Tavnanznia even in the storyline when the Original FFXI came out? I forget.. been too long XD.

IIRC it was a district in the sandoria nation, all three nations were there to defend it though.. I think that was the climax of the war, minus the fenrir story.

Doesn't seem all that similar to me. And how did you confuse San'doria with Tavnazia? O_o You even got to peek out at the ruins of Tavnazia in CoP.

In RRB trailer, they are being attacked on a battlefield, in XI, they are defending a city. Also missing beastmen. Though, the main character does look like Aldo.

Yeah your right, and in FFXIV A Realm Reborn they are doing the exact same thing: Forming a Eorzan Alliance to defend against this threat.. which is simular to FFXI Vana'dain Alliance ( thats what Im calling it anyways :P) to defend against this threat.

20 years later.. FFXI

Assuming FFXIV will have a "X Year later". Since there homes got attacked.. so they need time to rebuild.

Edit: Yes it is on a Battlefield, however, Ul'dah is getting Blow into Smithereens by Dalamud :P.. its all the same " Destruction!" :P

Ya old Tavnazia could be found off of the clif at Blue Blade Fell (i think that was the name of the area)

Can't really compare a shadowlord beastmen army (FFXI) to a giant red meteor destroying everything with another country invading (FFXIV)

I see no similarity beyond people forming an alliance to defend against some kind of threat..which is basically the plot of 95% of fantasy books/games out there so it's not like it's special that it is similar to FFXI's alliance.

I wouldn't say 95%, but yes the majority for sure :)

Hehe, was just expressing how I felt about it is all =). They both do have the "Darkness feel to it though" FFXIV 1.0 CGI wasn't all that dark. I'm glad they are taking this route.

Considering the decade between ffxi and ffxiv.. it's like.. comparing ffII to ffIX (FFI is in its own category)

I cant help but to think "ffxi vocal > ffxiv vocal"

Those are nothing alike. infact those both portray way in two opposite methods. Method one being to display the horrors of war and the effect on the common man. the second showing the horrors of war through the eyes of those fighting in it.

Those are pretty much the 2 ways of covering a small narrative on war in 2 min.

They are nothing alike. The opening to FF XI is powerful and emotional, it almost bought a tear to my eye.

They're similar in nature but not context. In FFXI when you learn about everything through CoP and WoTG the intro has that much more impact on you if you care for storylines.

In XIV, what we know so far..it's just a cool looking scene, no type of attachment at all.

We haven't seen the FFXIV opening CGI yet. We've seen bits of it cut-and-pasted out bit-by-bit in a badly voiced trailer.

I'm starting to feel sorry for all of you, I enjoyed the german trailer a lot (unexpectedly) :o
The voice was very fitting but I agree the english one kind of spoiled it.

Also, please don't go into a "FFXI is so much better and engaging herpaderp"-mode now..
The Seventh Umbral Era storyline so far has been interesting, epic and engaging and I like it a lot.
I also loved the opening movie of FFXI but I never had that feeling again while playing.
That's because everyone has it's favorites and they may differ but please don't disregard the beautiful and awesome story Yoshi's team has thought up for FFXIV :(
